Inappropriate kisses between he & Buffy? Never. But I will give you the different behavior with the joking and everything. Then again, Faith's language was much more "street" on season 7 Buffy than in the episodes on season 4 Angel. And come on, you didn't expect an Angel appearance on the very last episode of Buffy?! It's the same reason may fans were expecting a Buffy appearance on Season 5 of Angel- and were roundly disappointed when it didn't happen. They have a profound connection no matter what else is going on in their lives, of course there was going to be scenes with them together in the finale.

He just gave up his son and lost Cordelia to a high power who drained her of her life force and left her in a coma she'll never wake up from. Angel would NOT be smiling, would NOT be happy, would NOT be making jokes, and would NOT be kissing Buffy, sorry my opinion. It's like Joss completely forgot Angel had his own show and what transpired there.

I always thought it was more like Angel goes back sees Buffy and has like powerful emotional flashback and finally gets a moment to just breathe and to leave that whole ugly business behind him for a few seconds.
Because he's the kind of guy who pushes on, who tries to get back to doing the right thing and because he was so sad about all that transpired in LA he needed more than ever to get to go and be Buffy's hero for a while, to kind of remind himself of who he is.

I don't think it was meant to be an affront to Connor or Cordy.

Agreed. Angel's appearance was not only really unnecessary but really horribly written and unbelievably out of character. Angel's life had been thrown upside down for the last several months with betrayal, apocalypses, love gone bad, faux world peace and to top it off, he just had witnessed the death, well mind as well call her dead, of Cordelia, a woman he's been in love with for the better part of three years and the loss of his son, the one thing he's loved more than anything but he shows up in Sunnydale full of smiles and good humored jokes and on top of all that, the inappropriate kisses with Buffy. Really bad, unneeded crossover IMO.

I always felt it was right for Angel to be in the finale since he was in the beginning. We were missing people that were so it was nice to see him. I do agree though when you think about it his reactions didn't make any sense. When I only watched Buffy I was like Oh Angel is back but then watching Angel it gives me a wtf moment but all is good in the end.
Either way it turned out for the best.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: Angel went to Sunnydale to help Buffy. There's no way he was going to be all mopey and complain-y. I think it was perfectly in character for him to go there and not lay his problems on her, especially when she was about to go into a battle she thought she was going to lose.

Maybe. If something is wrong with me I don't usually complain to every person I see. And, I surely wouldn't to a person who was probably about to die in battle.

Conviction takes place just 19 days after Chosen. Do you think Angel is OOC there? Connor and Cordy are mentioned, but he definitely doesn't spend the following episodes moping around about them. And, what about after You're Welcome?

Angel broods a lot, but he doesn't pour his problems on other people. There's been several times where Cordy has had to make him talk about whatever is bothering him because he doesn't want to. (See: Doyle's death, Buffy's death)

And, on an outside perspective: this was BtVS's series finale. They weren't going to spend Buffy and Angel's last scene together talking about how horrible things were going for Angel on his show. They could deal with that in S5. This was about a throwback to the beginning of the show and a chance for us to see Angel on the show that got him his own. Not to mention, it set up the huge storyline for the Spike/Lindsey stuff in ANGEL.

I have to strongly disagree with you. We are taking about the man's son, he just slit his throat open and gave him away to a new life. I understand not burdening Buffy with his problems but he wouldn't be mister sunshine and smiles either. He wasn't even like that in seasons 1-3. Angel should have shown up, offered the amulet and left. No jokes about baking cookies and definitely no major sucking faces sessions.

Buffy makes him feel good in that moment, it's solace. He still loves her and he takes a momentary comfort in that. Can hardly blame the guy after what he's been through.

I felt like I wanted to answer this but I wasn't sure how being a newbie in the Buffyverse and not even having finished through once.

So I'm going to predict the future 😛 See what I think I might do when the time comes for me to watch the series a second time over.

At the moment I have watched the first two seasons via YouTube and that might be how I watch them again. But I have rented the third season on DVD because it's easier and doesn't waste so much download time. PLUS, I get special features. I don't think I'll ever be able to buy the DVDs because my Mum doesn't ACTUALLY really like the show very much and probably wouldn't appreciate it. And I'm a nice person, sometimes.

So I think when it comes time for me to re-watch it will probably be a full YouTube run. Who cares about download time 🙂 I figure I'll just watch the series through a second time and then when I'm finished that start again. It's what I do when it comes to listening to my Harry Potter audio books. Because by the time you get to the end you can't really remember all the stuff from the begining, or it's been so long that you just crave the begining again. That's how I do things. I never really get sick of things I'm passionate about.

At the moment. Even though I'm going through the series for the first time. I re-watch or watch for the first time eps out of order. I've seen several Season 6 eps when I'm only on Season 5 and I've seen Something Blue, which I love.

When season 7 was still in the airing, I was still rather new to Buffy. I had also just only recently found Angel after season 5 had already ended. I don't tend to watch the series much or have scheduled of when I will watch again. But in March 2009 I started watching Buffy and Angel again after, I think, several years. It was really cool to revisit it all. And in the later seasons of Angel, especially, some of the events I found myself remembering as I saw them and it was a great feeling. I watched the entire series' of both shows in about 10 months.

Now, I've started watching Buffy again and will head onto Angel as well. So maybe I watch every year or so, depending on how long it takes me to get through the series.

That was certainly inappropriate of SMG. Made even more inappropriate by the fact that she PROMISED David that she would guest on his series finale. Absolutely inappropriate and upsetting. 🙁
Some people feel it would have cheapened Angel's mission in some way, but I don't think so. It would have been logical for Buffy to hear of what Angel was doing in some way and show up.

Yup, I've replied to this thread already but it's been awhile so I thought I'd change my reply a little bit. Now, me and my sister are paying for our re-watches. If we want to re-watch a season we have to pay $2 to rent it from the library--because Buffy was taken down off YouTube. That annoyed me. But I have lots of spare $2 coins hanging around. So if I ever have the urge to do a Season 6 re-watch or whatever, I'll just pull some money out. So, they'll mostly be seaosn re-watches. But one day I am planning to buy the DVDs and then I will do full re-watches. But that might be a few years from now, when I'm old and get my own place where my parents don't matter.

It took me six years to miss Buffy. Yeah, I know, I'm a terrible fan...lol... About two months ago I started the re-watch of both (Buffy and Angel). Took me about three weeks I think to get through. And it indeed felt like coming home. Some things seemed completely new to me, others were just like I remembered them. It was A LOT of fun re-watching the series. Now I do kinda have a daily ritual by watching my fave eps. I'm sort of addicted now...lol.. but I don't mind 😀

I just finished my first re-watch of both BTVS and Angel since they aired, and there a a few episodes I may go back and re-watch for a third time.

I would have loved to see SMG make an appearance in the finale of Angel...too bad that didnt work out.

Depends on who you believe, there. The finale appearance could have been filmed on a day off. That was SMG just being stuck up, I think. And yes, David was ROYALLY pissed at her for that. I'm pretty sure none of the Buffy cast are close to SMG anymore. Apparently, she got really stuck up about Buffy in the last season. I remember reading something with I THINK Joss and Aly about that.
