Where the heck was she going?

I've been re-watching season six and the other day I watched Older and Faraway and the ending stumped me. Umm, Willow lives with Buffy and Dawn...so why does she leave? At the end of the episode, everyone is leaving and Willow goes, and they shut the door. Sure, if it was daytime maybe she'd have somewhere to go. But it was night...Sure she'd been locked in a house for abour 24 hours, but still, it makes no sense. Any theories?

Well, even Buffy was going to leave the house at the end of that episode, until she realized the one place she wanted to be was at home, spending time with Dawn.
Willow would have probably come back in eventually but she was just going out into the night, enjoying the fresh air. Perhaps even enjoying time with Tara. But Buffy isn't exactly going to leave the door open until she does come back is she? Haha. Willow would be very easily able to open it once she returned.

Plus it erm, worked for great dramatic effect. The door closing and Buffy and Dawn being the only ones that remained inside.

And even though it's night doesn't mean she hasn't got somewhere to go. The most obvious place that comes to mind for me is The Bronze. That is a nightly place, no?

My guess is she just wanted out of there. She'd been stuck in that house with all those people for over two days. She probably just wanted time on her own and fresh air.

She probably just wanted OUT. She was in there for like 2 days, I would've wanted to get even if it was night time.

I am inclined to agree that she just wanted some fresh air after being trapped in the house for so long.

I find it funny nobody changed their clothes or showered the whole time they were in there.

I was thinking of how smelly they all were... and the house.

BUT-I'm going for the dramatic affect thing... and the fact that Buffy and Dawn are together in the house in the end... that's the moral of the story, after all.

Okay I finally came up with a good answer (uhm...2 months after I started thinking about it) when watching that very episode the day before yesterday.
The reason why she went out was to say goodbye to Tara, maybe walking her home. I mean, in this episode they were starting to get on a little better again, and knowing how much Willow loves Tara, it's only logical that she wanted to spend some time with her.

Maybe Willow wanted to spend some time alone, I know I would after being with so many people for so long. If I picture myself in that situation I would want to be walking through a park on my own, breathing in fresh air.

The main thing that bothers me is why they didn't just all go to sleep for awhile. Then again I guess that's why there's no TV show about me... "Let's all have a nap and think about it tomorrow" doesn't exactly make for good television!

Yeah, they probably went to the Sunnydale equivalent of IHOP or Starbucks for coffee and maybe breakfast. Scrambled eggs and toast are always good "talking things over" food, and knowing how often they order food in at the Summers residence, it's a pretty sure bet that there wasn't a whole lot there to eat, especially for that many people, except cake and ice cream.

If you'd been trapped - physically - in a house for two days straight with a demon lurking in the walls making surprise appearances, Anya freaking out at you, a guy bleeding in your bed upstairs, Dawn having hissy fits, Spike doing his best to piss everyone off, and everyone generally getting in each other's hair, wouldn't you want to run sprinting from the place too?
