Where to Buffy People Go When They Leave the Buffyverse?

How about a little recognition for the Buffy people that have moved on.

It would be interesting to hear how you all think the Buffy ex-patriots have done since they've moved on.

For example I was really impressed by Jane Espenson's script for Gilmore Girls last week.

I hear Drew Z Greenberg has one coming up for Smallville.

I didn't see the Charisma Carpenter performances in that movie of the week ,or Mismatch. Whataya think? Thumbs up? And what about Faith as Tru? How is that anyways?

Or even the minor people like that guy in Jake 2.0. How's he doing?
 
Euhm, we don't get Try here, and Gilmore and Smallville are still in their previous seasons. Not to mention the fat that I don't like he series.

I do go to see most of Seth Green's movies, but that's because he picks the right roles! I mean, you're asking for me to see your movie if you have Edward Norton in it.

Truth be told, I haven't seen Darkness Falls, Wrong Turn or American Wedding yet.

Tim Minear - oversees Fox's mid-season drama Wonderfalls
Marti Noxon - oversees Fox's Sixth Sense-esque supernatural midseason drama Still Life
Doug Petrie - part of the Tru Calling staff
Mere Smith - part of the Tarzan staff

That's life after Buffy for ya.

I read somewhere the buzz on Wonderfalls is, it's really going to be something special.
 
I'll try to watch all the eps of these shows that these writers wrote. Drew Z. Greenberg's episode made Smallville sooo much better, but Jane Espenson lacked her comic touch when she wrote that Gilmore Girls ep. Tarzan is not easy to watch for me and the plot of Jake 2.0 is a bit uninteresting. I really wish David Greenwalt would write/direct/produce for Angel again. Tru Calling's pilot was too corny, but I like Doug Petrie and Eliza Dushku so I'll watch the episodes Doug Petrie writes.
 
That's right. I heard that too. Apparently he's going to play the Yale newspaper editor, or something like that.

It's sounds like it's going to be more like a walk-on, but wouldn't a Rory-Danny romance be interesting?

Hey, did you ever notice a Jane/Danny connection? Jane wrote Superstar the most Jonathancentric episode of Buffy, now she goes to Gilmore girls, and Danny follows. Come to think of it she also wrote Storyteller. How about an Andrew-Rory Romance?
 
Rebecca Rand Kirsher is now working on a series called Las Vegas. I've never seen it, although I did read several mixed/fairly positive reviews of it. I'm sure that RRK, with her terrible script structures and dull ideas, will make that series a must-miss. (Don't mean to sound rude or anything, but she only ever wrote one ep that I liked!)

Also, Doug Petrie is going to play a major role in bringing Lost In Space back to TV screens! I think he may be executive producing. I'm not sure whether this means he is leaving TC (already). I'd be intrigued to see anything that he works on, but it would be cooler if it had Eliza Dushku in it!!

By the way, nerd4hire, i LOVE that Fray banner. All the moments like that in those comics (and there were lots of them) sent chills up my spine in wonder, and made me turn the pages with shaking, sweaty, glee-filled hands. Who designed that banner, and how do you get the moving text-thing?

I'm quite pleased with that banner too. Vampirisha did it. She's got the gift, don't you think?

In fact, it's an interesting story, I think, so let's go off topic for a bit.

I've never really been a "banner person", but I am a Fray-Freak, and I wanted to advertise that fact.

I saw Vampirisha's personal banner on another thread and was impressed (I think it's the Spike on the cross thing). I decided to get in touch with her and suck up to her to try to make me a Fray themed banner.

Turns out she's really easy to get along with. She listened to my ideas, showed me why they wouldn't work, then showed me what would. I also am impressed by the scrolling thing. Do you believe she'd never done a scroll before? That makes it added impressive, I think.

Anywhooo.... I'm a Vampirisha fan now.

BTW isn't Fray amazing. I downloaded the first 7 episodes with a comic reader. Blow my mind, or what!!! Aaargh.... I can't find the final Episode 8. It's driving me crazy. I know something happens between Urkonn and Melaka, but I don't know exactly what. I'm trying to avoid spoilers until I find out. I might have to actually buy Episode 8.

Sorry for continuing this off-topic road (do we need to continue in a Fray thread or pm) but damn you have to read that issue! I disapprove of your illegal methods of reading the first 7 as well! You should have had enough faith in Joss to order them online or from a comic store 😛 Hehe. I first read the first 2 issues online, then went on a little trek around the specialist stores in London looking for the other 5 issues that were out at the time. I now have all 8 in a carefully kept folder 😀

It's a great story. Melaka's a wonderful character, and each issue is packed full of breathtaking twists, typical Josstastic humour and great, inventive storytelling. I also love little Loo, and

her death was absolutely heartbreakingly horrific.
Joss has promised a sequel, and I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to see the next feat of creativity he pulls off with Mel at his side.

Apparently Buffy producer, writer Joss Whedon is now writing a sequel to his comic book mini-series Fray
 
Heehee. Nice way to tie it in.

I've also heard really positive things on Wonderfalls. As well as Tim Minear (who wrote Darla, my all-time favourite Angel ep) it was created, and I think it's being produced by, Bryan Fuller who created the wonderful Dead Like Me.

slayerangel, you said that Jane Espenson's Gilmore Girls script lacked her comic touch. How can that be?? Jane was always my second favourite BtVS writer, after Joss. We don't get Gilmore Girls here, but i'll still be really upset if JE doesn't manage to write any more quality stuff, especially after such masterpieces as Earshot, Pangs and Storyteller.
 
I think that the episode had too much drama for her and she is used to writing those funny scripts and so she layed off the comedy to try to get more of the drama into the episode. The outcome was that she didn't add enough comedy into some scenes and it just lacked comedy at some of the wrong moments, so it was a bit uninteresting to watch. The other Gilmore Girls scripts were usually much funnier and the first script Jane Espenson writes is intended for the drama. Maybe the execs thought she could do it easily 'cause she came off the mostly dramatic world of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She tried too hard to be dramatic. Not enough drama, not enough comedy.
 
I saw a couple interesting ones tonight.

Azura skye (Cassie Newton) was on CSI Miami. She played the ex-junkie mother of Horatio's dead brother's child. She was good, as usual. She should get her own series, or a movie or something. She's got charisma (no pun intended)

Also the sitcom Becker is on reruns where I am now. I watched it for the first time tonight, and was surprised to discover Willie the snitch was a regular on Becker.

Ex-Buffy people turn up everywhere.
