Where would you like to live?

I think people are generally seeing America through rose coloured glasses, I'm sure it's a lovely place, and I would love to visit there someday. But live there? Nup. I enjoy my free health care!

It is because when the Aliens come, when the Asteroids, the Tsunamis, Global Warming, George Bush, Avian Flu, Giant Lizards, Giant Robots, the Muslim threat, Nuclear Bombs and a WHOLE host of other evil that is coming to the US and the World, they will be the first hit BUT they have something the rest of the world doesn't have which will save them - they have Jack Bauer!

To be honest I love the village that I live in now. I first moved here in 2001 then had to move away when the company I worked for (I lived in one of their properties as it came with the job) went bust Christmas 2005. I went to live in Worthing UK and hated it. I spent all my time trying to get back to here and was successfull in April 2007. Now I have a lovely house in the village and love it. It's good to be back home. I call it home as it's the one place I have lived in for the longest since leaving home when I was 18.

If I were to choose another country to live in that would be between 3, France, Spain or New Zealand. I love wine so that is what would take me to France and the country is beautiful. Spain, well all my parents live there, so I know the country quite well now and you gota love their numerous holidays and a good Rioja. New Zealand, because it looks like a beautiful country although I have never been there!

Hmm, I'm not really sure. Well, the question is nice and non-specific, so..... I'd probably like to live in the city just now. Not sure which city, but still. Living in the middle of Edinburgh would make things nice and easy for me, but it would also be really good to live somewhere like Camden. More interesting anyway.

I can't see myself settling down there, however. So, if I was choosing somewhere for the rest of my life rather than for now, it'd probably be Paris. Of course, I'd have to learn French, but it'd be worth it.

I LOVE Camden
I don't know were I want to live but I don't like living here.
I don't havea particular contry/place in mind but I'd want it to be:

-Warm/sunny
-Open spaces
-Not a city
-Town near by with pubs and stuff.

I like being on my own and having peace and quiet, so i can create my own noise 😉 and not have nosey neighbours and people watching me.

I like Camden, its a great place to visit, but I wouldn't wanna live there. Its like pudding.
The idea of eating pudding all the time is great, but when you put that into practice, its not as great.

Pft, I'm a student. We do nothing but eat pudding all the time. But like I said, I wouldn't want to live there for all eternity.

haha, I can totally relate to the pudding...it's like the student lifestyle!
I fancy living in Vancouver. It looks beautiful, has a well-reputed transport system, gets free shipping from Amazon (Amazon stopped shipping post to my country - you need to courier everything and alas, I am not a millionaire), Sarah Mclachlan and Chantal Kreviazuk might conceivably play concerts near there, and is near enough to the States so that if I feel like doing the tourist thing at Universal Studios in LA, it won't be a 25 hour flight to get there, and I could see The Pierces in concert too since I'm sure they play in LA from time to time. Oh, and that part of the world is probably a lot bigger on cult TV and fantasy than down here.

I am convinced you occasionally eat some pork!

With Camden, I have a few friends from all over the country and I myself, wanted to move there - I lived there for like a month and basically it was alright, but its so much better as a fantasy.

I was in Camden for a week, and by the end of that week I was ready to come back to sleepy Perth.
BUT. It would be fantastic to live there for maybe 6 months. Work in a pub, eat the market food every day, see bands at the electric ballroom. I could dig it.

Seriously, though, I don't know where exactly I want to live, but it has to be a big city. And preferably not in the Netherlands. I really, really, really want to move to London, but New York, Paris, Brussels would also be nice (although the last two require that I speak French, which I don't. Not really anyway).
I'm not really sure why I like cities so much. I love the countryside and the peace and calm but after a day or two I get restless and I need the buzz and anonymity of the city. Plus, in small communities I immediately feel I'm the outsider, whereas in a big city, everyone is an outsider in some way. Also, the chances are bigger that I meet someone who actually likes me. Simply because there are more people.

Totally get what you mean about the anonymity. I would hate to live somewhere where EVERYONE knows every detail of your life because nothing interesting happens.
I've got it all planned out. I'll live and work in Scotland until I save up enough money to travel to Vancouver. I'd look for a job, partner, flat, all those boring things, when I get to Vancouver. And stay there forever!

Vancouver just sounds like the place for me. Perfection.
 
I gotta admit, I miss the Gold Coast so much, I can't wait to go back. It's far enough away from my parents I don't have to see them all the time, if I moved back near the border, the beaches are nice and uncrowded and it's oh so cruisy, and for a wild night, surfer's is just up the road.

That's where I totally want to be right now.
 
First of all, I always wanted to live in a big city. That's something that has actually pissed me off quite a lot in the past: out of 'my' generation, I'm the only one in my family who doesn't live in one of THE big cities. Seriously. My Russian cousins have lived in Moscow all of their lives long (and my brother was also born there btw), my German cousins have lived in Berlin for over a decade by now, my brother moved to London, and somehow my parents were the only ones out of their siblings to go to a small city, and with them going, I was also stuck there! And I just hate small cities! Not that I now study in such a big city or anything, but when I'm done there I'll definitely move to a major city.

About the country I'm not sure yet. I'm very tempted by the Enfglish-speaking world, cos, well, I like English. There I think Britain and Canada would be most likely. I would like Australia, but I'm seriously doubting I could handle the climate down under. I'm really not functioning well in warm weather. And America, well...it's nice on TV, and sure I would like to visit, but from what I've seen I think it jsut wouldn't work out. I have some very 'European' (or, in some cases, even very 'Soviet') notions that I know are not really shared in America, so I'm pretty sure I would go crazy there in no time if I had to integrate myself into the American society.

Other than that, at some point I would like to live in Russia for some time, probably Moscow or St.Peterburg. It would seriosuly help my Russian, plus it's who I am.

I can share your thoughts on being "European", I'm very much so.
If I had the money to do it I'd love to live in Helsinki, Finland, I've been there twice on holiday and fell in love with the city. Its just got that relaxed feel to it and the buildings are all so gorgeous and the harbour is stunning to walk by during the summer.
 
I've lived all my life within 10 km radius of where I live now, and I'm fine with staying here. Yep, I can be boring. 😛

But my local area does have the benefit of nicely mild climate, and to me, the perfect mix between rural and urban - not totally farmland and villages, but no real big cities either.
 
I live in New Jersey. I would love to live in New York. That's been my dream since forever. I know it's not far from where I am know but that's just THE place I see myself living in when I'm older. I love it there. If it wasn't for my job, I would have been gone a long time ago.
