the Norman's did a lot of that and centuries later that sort of thing continued to be done. That way a new building could be said to be old and the price increased. A few places gave the reverse effect.
At Berry Pomeroy near Totnes in South Devon. At what is said to be the Totnes Castle a stately home was built in the walls of the castle, it now holds the title of Britain's most haunted castle as several of the ghost's ' come out to play ' during daylight hours.
The British Tourist Board have umpteen thousands of years to call on for fun times to write on, and some of those tales can be er, rum tales. I liked them.

Tbh, I'd love to go back to the places I've already been. I haven't left my country in almost a decade and a half and I'm remembering my past vacations fondly. So, I'd return to Poland, Amsterdam, London, Paris, Venice, and then, maybe after that 😉 I'd venture to new places, like Scotland, Egypt, Greece, and Anywhere, USA 😀
