Where's Buffy, dammit?

Should Buffy have played a part in Angel's end?

Ok. So I just now watched the last episode of Angel ever made. Can't say I was all that thrilled or satisfied. I get what they were trying to do....go out still fighting. But I felt....like they didn't make enought time to say goodbye. But what really bothers me is WHERE THE HELL IS BUFFY? I guess I'm just not as uber fannish as I could be...what the hell happened between Joss And Sarah Michelle Gellar??? Even Angel made an appearance in the final days of Buffy. The fact that Spike and Angel never see her is....sad and disapointing. Any informants out there?

OK, my question to you.

With everything Angel has to do in that finale, what would you have Buffy do? What would you take out from the two part finale to fit her in? Which characters personal story would you demote so that we can deal with Buffy?

Well, answer the questions.

Answer us why a character that wasn't ever a full time member of the show should be given a role in the finale and make it about her instead of about the characters that are already established.

Buffy returning means we deal with Spike and Buffy AND Spuffy/Bangel.

Why is that important when we already have closure on that in Chosen.
 
It wouldn't be like taking away anyone elses story. Buffy is part of Angels heart, his history. In Buffy, Angel is there for like, half a minute towards the end of the season. But he's THERE. Because he's a part of it all and ultimately loves Buffy. I think for the ending everyone wanted for Angel, not to mention the end of the universe she would have something to say to Angel. Anything. I would have been satisfied if in "The Girl in Question" (appropriately titled) she had actually shown up! Come on it's the end of the frickin series, Joss!

Joss tried to get her in that one, but she couldn't appear due to scheduling conflicts

And at the end of Buffy, Angel is given everything he needs to know about the relationship.

However at the end of Angel, how do you have Buffy in it briefly when we have both Spike and Angel.

I actually get quite frustrated with people who require Buffy in Angel.

Erm, you do know that there are some Comics that are considered canon which leaves open possibilities of dealing with it AND I am sure that when Angel finished there were many potential outlets for the continuation of the story.

I get frustrated because Angel moved away from Buffy, he fell in love with Cordelia and then right at the end of Buffy he has his little bitch moment and then people complain that there is no resolution in Angels end.

Here is a life lesson then, sometimes in life things don't happen just because we want them to.

totally agree about his little bitch moment on Buffy, thats just what it was, and so out of character for him at that point.
Ok, I don't think, we really had closure, well, not with Spuffy/Bangel anyway. Infact, when Chose ended I was sorta like "What? that's it? Come on!" I had questions. Does Buffy still love Angel? When will she be baked? Did she really love Spike? What now? what's gonna happen with Willow and Kennedy? I know what you're gonna say "buy the comics" right? Anyway...I did XD

So you expected Buffy to have all the answers within a year then eh?

I would have felt disgusted if she had made her decision, the story was perfect as was.
 
Angel had always tried to separate itself from Buffy, which is why in the first seasons they didnt even mention her by name. It, at least to me, always felt more of a 'real' show than simply a spin-off. I think the way they handled Buffy was perfectly sublime; enough to give a nod to it's parent show, yet remaining true to the shows original intentions.

Except for the opening episode, the episode with Faith, the episode where Doyle had a vision of Buffy and the episode where Buffy and Angel spend a day together - ohh and the episode after that.


Ohh and the episode with Oz.

Thats like off the top of my head too😛


HOWEVER I agree that it felt right that they separated the two shows

The Doyle episode led to the Pangs episode of Buffy, which led to the day they spent together episode. That was the only story arc in the first season where Buffy played a role; it was two shows setting the stage. As a whole that is not alot.

But damn, you DID agree with me on one point; I must be losing my edge.

Thats NOT what you said.

They nonly mentioned her by name, they mentioned her in many different episodes.

As I said, those were off the top of my head - I am sure I can think of more if I tried - Oh, the one where Cordelia is a whiney little cry-Buffy.

Either you're losing your edge OR you're actually starting to talk sense instead of crap.
 
I totally disagree about Buffy being in the last episode. Just as her last battle in season 7 wasn't Angel's fight, this wasn't hers.

Buffy was going to appear in my episode, the episode that I directed, so we put out the offer to Sarah and she politely declined which, I will say, she had her reasons. I think there might have been a death of an aunt or something that she was dealing with but, regardless, I guess Joss kind of felt a little bit put off about the way it was done. There was a perceived notion, on both sides, I can say, between Sarah and Joss of ingratitude for both parties. Joss doesn't feel like Sarah's ever shown the proper amount of gratitude for what he's done for her and her career, and I think she feels the same way. That she feels she was never afforded the credit for Buffy's success and the gratitude from Joss.
I think they're both crazy. (laughs) They were the right people at the right time, it was a great partnership and it created a great series, and I truly think they both recognize this to some extent. But for whatever reason, I think the fact that she declined to do that put a damper on her coming back later.

Also, Joss said he didn't want the last Angel episode to be All About Buffy, which is what would happen if she were to show up. He wanted to focus on the show's regulars instead.
 
Would have been great if SMG had actually showed up in GIQ, but in the last ep? Seriously? Weren't the last two eps of Angel pretty rushed and too full of things happening already?

Wanting Buffy added to that mix sounds almost like suggesting BTVS S7 was lame because they should have added some more new characters to spice things up, and a few more sideplots as it was too streamlined as it was. 😛

That quote is interesting - I wouldn't give up Cordelia in You're Welcome for anything - Would Buffy have worked?
 
I think ANY sort of help they could have gotten for Not Fade Away woulda been welcome...Buffy's presence certainly would have made it much less crappy.
 
I don't necessarily think Buffy needed to be in the last episode. It is Angel's show and they needed to focus on that. I think they could have dealt with her earlier...I agree that this was Angel's fight. And how do you deal with Angel and Spike? I believe that Angel and Buffy belonged together. At least they did give us the angel/buffy last day together episode in the first season. Sounds like most people didn't want a lot of Buffy in Angel and I do see how important it is to seperate the shows. I guess I always hoped that after the hellmouth was destroyed and she wasn't the only slayer her and Angel could have another chance somewhere near the end....but why would we want a happy ending?!!! I thought at least Buffy would have talked to Angel, said goodbye or something. I never felt like that was fully resolved...the 100th episode would have been apropriate. I figured it must have been because of differences between Joss and Sarah. Too bad, though.
