Where's Buffy, dammit?

Should Buffy have played a part in Angel's end?

Using the 100th episode for Buffy instead of Cordelia would have made the entire season COMPLETELY without merit. You're Welcome is the one thing that saves it from being a total ZERO.

Cordelia was very important in the 100th but they could have had that happen earlier between her and Angel. I felt the whole end of the season was totally rushed, anyway. And before that there were plenty of filler episodes. Why end the show woth no build up?

Well I think it was rushed because of the unexpected cancellation and they had to end the series, but I agree...season 5 had more pointless filler eps than any other season...except maybe 1...but 1 actually had GOOID filler eps.

I remember SMG saying that she would have appeared in an Angel episode during S5 but she was filming The Grudge at the time and was still out of the states so she never got the chance.

Personally I would have wanted her to appear in an episode of Angel since to me it would just feel right with their history and for her possibly paying him back for the amulet. Would it have change YW? Ofcourse it would have since the episode would have been entirely different since the rewrote it to include Cordy instead of Buffy.

But none of the guest spots worked out the way they wanted them to in S5 which is why we got Andrew twice. Dawn was suppose to appear in Damage, Buffy in GIQ, then they wanted Michelle but still couldnt get her so brought back Andrew again.

And even if Buffy appeared, they still should have brought in Cordy.

Sarah Michelle Gellar will not be resurrecting Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the finale of The WB spinoff series Angel after all, TV Guide Online reported. Gellar was reportedly asked to appear in the second-to-last episode, airing May 5, but was working on her upcoming supernatural movie The Grudge while that hour was being shot, the site reported.

Gellar was free to appear in the finale, which airs May 19, but Angel executive producer Joss Whedon told the site that he didn't want the send-off to "revolve around a guest star." "We will deal with the issue of Buffy and how much she means to Angel and Spike, but I want to end the show with the people who've been in the trenches together, the characters who have lived—and occasionally died—together: the regulars."

The May 5 episode will reportedly resolve the Angel-Spike-Buffy triangle, though Gellar won't appear, producers told the site. "Angel and Spike arrive at an understanding. That's all I'll say about that," executive producer Jeffrey Bell told TV Guide. "And without her being involved, Buffy's character has come to some sort of understanding, too."

He said he invited Gellar to appear in the second-to-last episode, but she wasn’t available because she was in Tokyo working on the horror film “The Grudge” when the show was being shot.

Whedon’s partner, Jeffrey Bell, said show executives eventually learned that Gellar was available for the final episode despite being booked at the time of the penultimate one. But by that time, the second-to-last episode had already been written and shot, and getting her into the last episode “didn’t make any sense” with the plot that had been written so far.

“By the time it became a possibility, the ship had sort of sailed,” Bell said.

SMG always has an excuse...

Except it was a valid one. She was the main star in The Grudge thus her leaving for a week or two would have halted production, plus she was in Japan whereas Angel was filmed in California...Thats to much work to appear in one episode. It was already hard enough for her to film Buffy and Scooby Doo at the same time.

Yeah, but everytime she skips out of something it's because she was "filming" somewhere...the girl doesn't work THAT much. I don't buy it after I've heard it so many times.

During her last two years of Buffy she was a busy little beaver. Between S6-7 of Buffy and S5 of Angel she was doing Scooby Doo 1 and 2 along with The Grudge, all of which were filming over seas. She was already on a tight rope with scheduling flying back between California and Australia to film Buffy.

Plus hair colors are different too, not major, sure, but another reason! I'm agreeing with you!
Wait what Dawn was actually gonna be in? can some one please explain this and why she said no.

I belive she was suppose to be in Damage and later Girl in Question in Andrews place both times. But she was busy, I believe filming a movie and was not available.

Cool thanks for telling me
Although i wouldn't have liked it to been Dawn instead of
Andrew in the first Andrew ep but not if she were with him.
I would of loved to see her in the Girl In Question though i can just imagine.

Here is the artcile mentioning her canceled appearance in TGQ
Michelle Trachtenberg Trades Stakes for Skates. Entertainment Tonight conducts a brief interview with MT about her role in Disney's 'Ice Princess'.

To add some random trivia: according to Jeff Bell, Michelle Trachtenberg was set to guest star on Angel, and would have appeared if it weren't for a scheduling issue with this 'Ice Princess' movie.

The Angel producers had contacted MT, and she had agreed to appear in the episode, 'The Girl In Question'. Trouble arose when Disney replaced the original director of 'Ice Princess'; this accelerated the movie's filming schedule and thus Michelle could no longer make her planned Angel appearance. In the end, Tom Lenk was used in her stead.

It would have been nice to have her and Spike finally settle their differences and become friends again, something that we never saw happen in Season 7.

I'm in the camp that says Buffy had no place in the Angel finale... the show was about alot more than... wait, actually the show was not in the slightest about Bangel vs Spuffy and had SMG appeared in the finale there would have been no way around dealing with that, and that had nothing to do with the storyline at hand, it would have been tedious, unnecessary and a plain out case of just not the right time or place.

wow. that would've been awsome, although Andrew being there was a good set up for the comics 😛

I think I remember that Joss wanted Sarah in The Girl In Question, but she was busy. I'm not sure why she could't appear earlier, maybe lack of time or place in the plot, but I think he said th<t she couldn't be in the final episodes, taking too much focus.
