Which character changed most during the seven seasons of Buffy and the 4+ seasons of Angel? By change I mean grew (or not) as a person, not physically (like Xander expanded). The easy one is Spike...I mean, wow, a soul, but did his personality really change that much? Giles went from a caraciture of the bumbling Englishman to someone much more deep, with some dark corners and the capacity to kill if need be (see under Ben in S5). Buffy, Willow, Xander, Anya, Faith; everyone had their crises, all changed, but who do you think changed the most?

I think Cordelia underwent the biggest transformation. I mean, watch Welcome to the Hellmouth...she is a stone cold bitchmonster of the highest order. And not in the "speak her mind" sense that she came to be known for....just mean and nasty. To go from that to the character she eventually became on Angel...that's a bigass transform.

Yeah Cordy did. And Spike went from a souless big bad to a souled vampire who had plenty of sex with buffy!

I think that the top ones were Cordy, Willow and Spike. I loved their transformations...and yes, killerdwarf, I did see a personality change. But I guess it just sometimes depends on what character you identify best with to what you're going to notice...at least IMO...

Connor? He went from character-less baby, to purely evil tortured soul, to semi-good, to traitor, to happy normal boy? and all in two seasons!

Did you all just forget about Wesley? He went from nerdy Watcher to rogue demon hunter to nice Wesley to dark Wesley. Quite a change!

Wesley really did change! You are so right slayerpower! I also agree that Cordy underwent major change. She grew into a rather deep and amazingly strong woman during Angel! I'm not done watching the Buffy season's so I cannot say for sure who I feel changed the most out of Buffy.

Good point, Rayne. Some characters probably do stand out more to certain people than others...

What about Buffy? Now there's a character that debateably grew, and definitely changed.

I think one of the things I like most about Buffyverse characters, is the way the writers care about stuff like this.

Even the minor characters are altered by their circumstances.

Vi is my personal favourite example. She starts out as this shy, dorky, badly dressed little misfit, looking at her shoes, fumbling for words, and ends the season as an in-charge, Florence Nightingale, smoking hot, warrior princess.

I'd go for Wesley as having changed most. From bumbling apprentice watcher with a crush on Cordy to cool, fightin', take-charge dude.

I don't think Spike changed all that much (soul notwithstanding) - he was never the big bad he thought he was, always humorous (either as the butt of gags or making with the wittiness we Brits are famed for - anyone who disagrees gets a soccer riot, OK😉) and most of the time attracting audience sympathy (it'd be a hard-hearted soul who hasn't said "Ahh! Poor Spike" at least once).

I think the likes of Buffy and Willow didn't change so much as more realise their full potential.

Faith went from confused Slayer to evil Slayer to really-sorry Slayer to good Slayer (with cool attitude) so I guess she changed a lot as well.

I think that i would have to go with Cordy and Willow. i think that Cordy has deffinetly changed the most since she was at sunnydale high. and then there was Willow who went form well normal Willow to unlimate evil and back to Willow again (but not quite). but i do think that Spike has changed a lot as well.

I'll take my stand and say the most striking change was to Buffy herself. She went from kinda flighty teen queen wannabe to a battle hardened commander. Her best strategic battle IMO was in "The Gift". She planned the campaign against Glory down to a "T"...kept the virtually unbeatable off balance and beat the snot out of her in the process! That's a far cry from the little girl in the Prom dress who clocked her watcher and went off to take on the Master with no backup!

Buffy is the most obvious choice as it's 'BtVS', but I also think that Cordy,Willow and Anya changed a lot,....

Yup, I have a firm grasp of the obvious...**winks at ana8**. That being said, all the opinions above are quite valid...as Rayne said, it is what you notice...

I think Willow went through the most change. She went from being a geek in the first season, to this all powerful evil witch and then to a goddess. Not to mention her realising she was gay.
