Which character on Buffy or Angel do you identify with the most?

For me, it would have to be Cordelia. I'm charming, funny, quick witted, determined, and attractive. Also, In high school I was pretty antagonistic to the people who weren't in my own crew. Sometimes I acted that way even towards my friends. I wasn't super popular or whatever but everybody in school knew who I was. Like her, I also had a falling out with the people I hung out with and I kinda drifted into the background Senior year. I wanted to concentrate more on my studies to graduate.

I'm also the type of person who doesn't share his problems with people because I feel like I don't want to burden anybody. I tend to keep a lot of things going on in my life to myself and I put on a smile to please everybody else. Nobody ever knows when something is wrong with me because I'm just that good an actor. I sometimes make jokes at others' expense and occasionally put people down. I might come off as an asshole but I really am a sweetheart on the inside. You just gotta get to know me.

A funny tidbit is that in high school I drove a shiny red car and now I drive a Jeep. LOL

Great question Visionguy.
I'd say i was a bit like Tara....not in the gay sense...more that at the start of Academy i was really quite quiet...but when i joined part of an already formed group of friends i really came out of my shell 😀 My confidence rose and i talk all the time...some people say too much now a days but oh well 🙂 I'm still quiet around those i don't know...but i'm almost a completely different person around my friends 😀

its true!!! She IS VERY DIFFERENT when around her group :P
I'd probably have to go for Tara. Whereas I'd like to say Anya, I'm more like Tara in so many ways. I'm the shy stuttery girl who tries to blend in with the background and lets everyone else take lead, when I'm at school. The only time I come out of my shell at all is when I'm with people I care about/who care about me. I don't like discussing my feelings and whereas I like not to be noticed, I don't want to be the same as everyone. I guess I'm very Tara-like at school. When I'm with my friends or family, or on the boards I'm more like an Anya or *gulp* Dawn persona.

I would say Oz im the quiet one with little to say who cracks the occasional joke with a strong geeky side thats shared only in certain company, plus i love the willow type.

id say Xander... hes the simple one of the pack, he's isnt strong (Buffy), he's not magical (Willow) he's not that smart (Giles) he's just normal! thats why i like him the most 😀
Also he's always got a funny look about things... which i (think) have too

I'm probably most like Oz. I tend to be quiet, even with a close group of friends. I don't say much. Just relax, and take it all in.
I'm not as calm as him though. If something annoys or upsets me, I get very vocal, and tell it like it is. So I guess i'm a little bit Cordy as well.

I suppose that if I had to identify with any single character on the show, it would be Giles, because, like him, my age generally gives me a somewhat different perspective on is happening around here. I could also identify with Andrew, because, again, he is a character relatively on the outside of the core group, and therefore able to see things from a different point of view. Plus, we share common interests in "Star Wars," and possibly "The Matrix," though I draw the line at that Timothy Dalton/James Bond thing. After Connery, it was just a downhill slide, culminating in the current "James Grunge."

I don't really know- I'm trying to consider this question without you know, bias of the characters I like more haha. I mean Willow isn't one of my favorite characters (don't hit me Willow-Followers. I do like her just not as much as others ::hides from rotten fruit:🙂 so I had to really force myself to consider whether I was like her honestly etc.

I would like to think I'm most like Buffy- minus the superstrength-superpowers thing (though that would be cool)- I tend to be the group leader more than anything, I use way too many pop culture reference than an adult really should, I'm very independent (sometimes to a fault) and while I'm friendly and get on with most people I tend to only ever have a core group of friends over the years. But then I think I have quite a few aspects of Joyce to me (and this is the part where I had to think whether character-bias was butting in here) but I'm a serious art geek, I always seem to be the last to know things for everything, I have a healthy level of denial in a lot of things (most particularly regarding my mother's social life which to find out details on would probably only scar me for life), I'm protective and extremely family oriented- and I have the whole Mom factor as well, haha. So it would be either of those characters really.

But those two are the only ones I feel I can identify with at all.

sure you're not just trying to get me to disagree with you again by saying that about Willow? :D
This is a great question, visionguy.

I'd say I share simialities with many of the characters. Many of them are relatable to me in some way. I'm a lot like Buffy in the sense that I am known to make rash and impulsive decisions. Like Xander, I'm fiercely loyal to my friends, and like Cordelia, I often say the wrong thing at the wrong time. Tact is not my strong point. 😉 and finally, like Dawn, I did struggle with identity issues when I was her age. I feel for her.

Although, there was always something about Faith I felt I could relate too. We all have this darkness in us that we're constantly fighting against I think, whethor or not we're conscious of that struggle or not. Faith personifies the struggle between what one wants to do, and what one ultimately desides to do. She often acts on passion not logic, and I can totally identify with that.

Despite the supernatural nature of BtVS, there's something very emotionally real and human about the characters. This is one of the reasons I love the show so much.

Am I the only one that never manage to identify myself with characters on a TV show?

It's not only a Buffy or Angel thing either.
I have never seen anything on TV that is even remotely close to how my life is or was back in school.
So I just can't relate at all.

Don't have any problem with that though.
I have never felt the need to identify myself with certain characters to be able to enjoy a show.

But I would have loved to be like Oz though... the quite one that only say smart things. If we can skip the playing in band thing, thats just not me.

/SK

Although she's definitely not my favourite character, I think Willow and I have quite a lot in common. Like her, I was the quiet, ignored and slightly geeky one in school, but with my friends, I really come out of my little shell, but only with them. That could also be Tara, but what makes me more Willow, is that I have this sort of self destructive side we saw of Willow in s6. When something goes wrong, I blame myself and end up in this kind of destructive cycle, and something really nast has to happen for me to come out of that again. Also, I think Tara is just too sweet. I'm not sweet. I'm weird. I say strange words.

I think I'm a lot like Tara but also a bit like Willow too.
I'm like Tara because at school I'm really quiet and nobody really notices me much but nobody really hates me or anything, kinda like Tara you know? I am kinda shy but once you get to know me I am most certainly not shy! haha, I can get pretty loud around friends!
I'm like Willow because I'm a huge nerd! I always do my homework and worry about grades too much! I think my sense of humor is somewhat like Willow's too 🙂

Faith.

But instead of fighting for redemption I'm fighting against my past & stuff that happened to me & affected me in a bad way. But a lot of scenes and lines could come straight from my life.

I would say that I used to be someone like Fred when she was rescued from Plyea, quiet, reserved, a little bit unconfident, but pretty also :-D (And I never drew all over my walls though 😛) And now, I would have to say I'm like the Fred we saw from season 4 to 5, happy, cheery, cute and smart ;-)

I think I'm most like Buffy. Or, at least, I feel I can relate to her most. Independent yet dependent on my friends, emotionally tough, strong-willed, funny, stubborn, mature beyond years, and we share a deep love of shoes. 🙂 Also, like Buffy, I've been through my share of emotionally rough times that led me to do some foolish things...not sleep-with-a-soulless-vampire foolish, but yeah. Buffy's not my all-time favorite character, but I feel I can relate to her the most.

I'd have to say Buffy. She is mostly a strong individual and stands for herself, just like me. She is not scared of many things but feels alone. Also I use to be all cheery and cracking jokes like Buffy from season 1/2 but then after all the things that happened to me, I am more reserve (not in the sense of not talking cause I do that a lot, but in the sense of keepings things to myself) just like Buffy in the last couple of season. I always also seem to fall for people who I shound't fall for so it never works out. Overall I just think I'm a lot like Buffy, minus the superpowers and the slaying vampire thing😛

I would also have a tiny bit of Cordelia cause I can be a sarcastic b**ch sometimes but in a nice way 😛

And also maybe a tiny tiny little bit Willow cause I'm a nerd and her problems in s6 can reflect through some things I lived and saw over the years.
