Since Spike came back as some type of Vampire afterlife, I have to remove him. Have to say the death of Tara – as it made Willow going crazy and it became understood that Buffy was not strong enough to defeat evil Willow. It did give limits what Buffy can do as a slayer.

The Body is one of the best episodes, IMO. I think it was meant to make people cry. Joyce was a HUGE loss to Buffy and they way they filmed it was incredibly riveting and real. I cried like a baby! haha 🙂

I didn't cry at Jenny's death because I was just too shocked at the way Angelus killed her.

I didn't cry but I was sad over Joyce's death because I was beginning to like her.

Tara, I was stunned but not sad because she's not a favourite of mine.

I cried a little at Jenny's death.

But it doesn't compare to how hard I cried when Buffy died in The Gift.

Me too, its the first episode of Buffy EVER that made me cry.

All of those deaths made me extremely sad, but I never cried over them. Now Buffy's death in "The Gift"? My first taste of Buffy was the ending of that episode, while it first aired. I had no idea who any of these characters were, but I bawled my eyes out as if I were attached to these characters for years. That's how I knew I would fall in love with the show. 🙂

None. I'm a heartless wench. 😀

I just don't cry that much watching TV. I can feel really sad and empty inside, but I rarely cry.

Jenny I thought was really sad and horrible, Tara I was shocked and just sat with giant saucer eyes going "no that didn't happen it didn't happen"

but Joyce, I really cried. Cause the pain in that episode is so real and we're given so much time to grieve the loss with Buffy and the gang. It's not just dead and lets go chase some demons... it was all that uncomfortable, silent 'what now?'' incomprehension that you can experience when someone has passed. Time just moves differently for a while. It was a beautiful episode that was painful to watch

I cry every time I see Joyce and Tara die. Joyce because it's so close to my grandfather's death (he was a father to me and my brothers.) and Tara because I can't imagine Will's heartache of the love of her life dying in her arms after they'd *just* reconciled.

Jenny's sad as well, but not as sad to me. I don't know why.

Joyce, I really cried.
Exactly. That episode is done so perfectly.

None of the three in the poll, though they were all of course sad. Buffy's death in The Gift made me teary the first time around but that's about it.

I think Joyce for me, that whole episode was just so sad & real. It was hard to watch Buffy suddenly have that realization of utter lonliness. Taake put it very well. "what now?" - anyone that has lost someone knows exactly how that feels and i think SMG played it so well. It was well written & shot beautifully. I didnt think much of joyce as a character but just for the pure sadness of Buffy, made this the saddest death for me.

All three of them, really. I think Willow's reaction made me cry more than the loss of Tara. Same with the reaction to Joyce's death. Not that I didn't love those characters, the reactions were just able to provoke a bigger response than the action themselves. That's not unusual for me, though.

Jenny's actual death shook me to my core, her actual death made me cry, still makes me cry, and then it made me cry more seeing the reactions. I still don't know why Jenny really resonated with me so much as a character; She was there so briefly, but she really left an impression on me. I wish I could suss out why.

George. Oh wait, wrong show.

Joyce. Specifically other characters' reactions to her death.

Jenny was more shocking than sad, and Tara was just eh.

None of these actually made me cry. Tara and Jenny get to me, but more in a "shocked" way; Joyce leaves me completely cold (I don't emotionally respond to "The Body" except in the Tillow scene; Aly is just too strong a cryer. :sigh: )

The only Buffyverse death I did full-on cry over was Fred. 🙁
