Which characters overstayed their welcome?

Connor/Riley/Groo/Harmony/Mr Trick/Lindsey/Spike

They all overstayed their welcome, in my opinion.

I agree with everyone who has said Spike. I love the character but I don't understand why he was kept alive when he had the chip in his head. "Being harmless" was a lame excuse (and arguably not even true).

I think he should have been dusted in season 4 or exited the show by some other means.

Realistically, Spike should have been staked in s4, no doubt about it. And the whole reasoning for not staking him was kinda dumb. That being said, I don't necessarily think he overstayed his welcome because I really like his storyline, but on a logical point of view I understand why it didn't make much sense to keep him around (I'm just glad he did).

I also sort of agree that Angel should have left after Amends to go on his own show, but it's not like I minded him being on BtVS either. I just like him better on AtS beyond Amends. So again, not that he overstayed his welcome, but knowing how awesome he is on his own show, I wouldn't have minded him leaving earlier.

Andrew might have overstayed his welcome. Again, I sort of like him, but he should have been sent to prison to actually deal with the consequences of what he did. I know BtVS isn't big on consequences, but Andrew took it too far by murdering his best friend, he deserved the good old fashion human consequence. It's not really that I would have wanted him off the show, but I wish they would have done his story differently.

I can't really think of anyone else really. Even characters that I hate I can find a good reason as to why they stayed on the show and as to why they were needed. In my opinion, there are far more characters that should have stayed longer than characters that should have left sooner.
