Meh... Spangel is easy pickings Earthlogic! 🙂 Yes - they look like the perfect couple - a perfect couple imitating what they think a perfect couple would look like based on images they've seen of a perfect couple (which was probably an image of the two of them in the first instance). They are the Disneyland of "perfect coupledom". 🙂

And you probably don't know the people who voted. There happen to be those like me who ship neither. But Bangel is the underdog to Spuffy in the fandom, so that's who I voted for. Others were there for Willow's ships and put Bangel/Spuffy in wherever. Just something to think about.

Alright, you got me, I haven't been there long. So what? It just so happens that there is a ship tournament going on right now. I'm just stating facts. And I'm a not a Spuffy or a Bangel shipper either, not that it matters much here.

The majority of the board doesn’t participate in shipping tournament type games....lots of people are over that pissing contest.

I joined the boards in July. When I joined the "Close Your Eyes" section was virtually dead. Nothing had been posted in a while. I thought I was literally the only Bangel fan on the boards for a second there and then I went looking around for ANY Bangel or even Angel friendly posts (which thankfully I did find after looking around). I started trying to post more to the "Close Your Eyes" board to see if I would get any responses (and I mean look at the board 50% of the recent threads are mine LOL). I tried to start a fan fiction review and with little response. I think the section has seen more activity lately but certainly not to the degree of activity that you see in the "Back Steps" section. I think if you are looking at the "hardcore" Spuffy v. Bangel shippers the Spuffy shippers are hands down the winners in terms of numbers on these boards. What you get is alot of people who are more show centric and they tend to be slightly more favorable to Bangel. (Incidentally, not many Spuffy fans showed up to vote in the Ship Tournament - I probably follow more of you guys than actually voted). The Buffy Survivor game is a good indication of the Spuffy domination of the boards (that sounds ominous but you get what I mean). The episode Angel was eliminated extremely early in the Season 1 round (That's objectively a top 4 episode in the Season). School Hard won the Season 2 round over BECOMING... which is touted as some of the best TV out there by completely neutral non-Bangel critics.

Overall even outside of these boards the Spuffy fandom is extremely strong and I'm quite envious of it. Elysian Fields is alive and well whereas we can't really find any Bangel betas to help with our fics. The Buffy/Angel fic sites/boards are slowly closing down or mostly inactive and the older rank of Bangel fans have slowly found other things to do with their life (which is fine by me I'm not upset by that its just the facts of life.) I can't find ANY Buffy podcasts that aren't pro Cangel and/or pro Spuffy - which AGAIN is fine because I still enjoy some of those podcasts but is a bit frustrating because I just have to ignore the anti-Bangel remarks.

If it sounds like I'm bitching at the Bangel fandom, I don't mean to be. Life gets busy and people lose interests in fandoms etc and I have no problems with that what so ever. But I'm quite the competitive person. When I say that I think Spuffy dominates the boards or the fandom in general I'm not being self deprecating. I wish that my ship of choice was the dominate ship. Maybe if it was the comics wouldn't continue to crap all over that ship. But objectively that is not the case on these boards or in the general fandom.
