Actually, the title is a little misleading and/or detailess, less than what I actually wanted to ask:

After Warren died, and Andrew and Jonathan came back to Sunnydale and Andrew killed Jonathan, Andrew has become almost a part of the gang. They weren't officially accepting him, but in the end he fought at their side, and got an even bigger part in season 8. Andrew wind up getting a bigger role in the series (plus on Ats) than Jonathan ever had, even though he used have a minor-important part in the series, and first.

So after Warren died, who should have been kept around and have that role (Andrew's role), Andrew or Jonathan?

I've always had a heart for Jonathan, so I'm going with him. He was there throughout Sunnydale High and we had gotten to know of him so that's why I chose him. I had never heard of Andrew until S6 and even though he cracked me up, I was always partial to Jonathan.

In the end, I think Jonathan wouldn't have been as entertaining and interesting as Andrew is. In season 6 I had nothing for Andrew. He made me laugh here and there but nothing too special. But thanks to season 7 I got to see where they took him, they made his character from season 6 even more extreme. If it wasn't for season 7, I wouldn't have noticed him as much. Be he had a huge part in making the few good things in season 7 great.
So I think it was the right choice keeping him and not Jonathan.

Yeah I voted for Johnny too. It's like we've seen him grow up in a way, and he's been around as long as the Scoobies. He had been bullied and ignored his entire life, so it would have been awesome if he had joined the Scoobies, even if they despised him. It would have gave him purpose, you know?

But Andrew's still hilarious. 😛

I think Jonathan earned it simply by virtue of being in Buffy from basically the very beginning, but I think Andrew was better suited to S7 as the comedy relief.

Jonathan. He was funny at times too and the writers could of made him even more funny if they wanted to. It just would of been nice to see him finally become part of the scoobies.

Much as I was heartbroken to see Jonathan die (especially as I'm similar to him with his thoughts in his final scene - I'm probably one of the only ones from my school year to still regularly think of the old bunch; heck, still going to class about once a week in my dreams, 19 years after graduation...), I think Andrew was the better choice for sheer comic relief potential.

Aww I love Jonathon. I really don't like Andrew that much, even though he is funny at times. Jonathon was much better. 😀

But I don't see Buffy being able to treat Jonathon as easily as the way she treated Andrew in s7

Andrew, for me the fact that Jonathan was killed was much more horrible than if it had been the opposite, I was invested in Jonathan's character, I barely gave Andrew a second thought, so when Jonathan died I reacted, I felt a bit sad and disturbed because it just felt so "nooo, poor Jonathan". Had Andrew died I simply don't think I would have cared.

Keeping Andrew around was smart, he was cute and quirky and needy in a way that Jonathan was in the earlier seasons (and hopefully had matured past), plus he was new to the scoobies and fairly new to the viewers, which gave the writers more room to play with his character 🙂 Also I feel he really fitted in, in an odd way, with the Scoobies (and especially Spike 😉)

good point about the "Tucker's brother just died... erm, so what?" :p
Definitely Andrew for me. I found him entertaining to watch. I never found Jonathan a funny character. (Or interesting really) Because the geek that stayed around would be used for comedy purposes, it is easily Andrew. Any funny scenes involving Jonathan are usually from the surrounding characters. What sticks out the most to me was Willow interrogating him killing the swim team, with him peeing in the pool. Willow's "Oh.... Ew!" ahaha

Jonathan. I can't stand Andrew, and even though Jonathan made a lot more misstakes than he should have, he didn't annoy the crap out of me. And the moment when he's made not only likeable, but someone to admire, he's killed. And now we're stuck with Andrew, who isn't half as funny as I suspect he's meant to be.

Jonathan. Andrew was only good in 'Storyteller' and 'Chosen'. Other than that, he annoyed the hell out of me.

It had to be Andrew. Jonathan only died because the First manipulated Andrew into killing him. Jonathan wouldn't have fallen for it and would have had the morals to say no. Even if he believed it was really Warren (not likely, Andrew even knew it was a trick) he still wouldn't have done it cause he hated Warren. But for arguments sake, let's say Jonathan did kill Andrew... I can't really picture him sticking around. It was Andrew's dream to join Buffy's gang and "hang out at her house".

Plus, Andrew was much funnier and had more of a character to develop. Jonathan had already showed that he matured. Things that nearly drove him to suicide became things he could look back on with some perspective. His death wasn't befitting for him but there was really nowhere else to go with his character.

i liked andrew i thought he was annoyingly funny 🙂 and added some light heartedness to s7. but i thought jonathon maybe could have had a bigger role in the end as he was in buffy for such a long time before the 'trio' and thought he was quite sweet 🙂

I am glad Andrew had a big part in s7, it defo needed his silliness. But I did like Jonathan! It would have been nice for them to both be there till the end, but it was not to be! haha

Jonathan was an ok character, along the same lines as Merl.
Andrew is a frikkin legend, hilarious and should have been a major character for longer.
Andrew is one of the main reasons i love season 7.
