Which Plot Twist?

For those of you who were fortunate enough to not get spoiled over certain plot twists, which plot twists pleasantly surprised you?

For me it was

Picking up after the movie - I thought for sure the show would start all over again with the valley girl being shown her slayer power. Instead we got a jaded, somewhat weathered sixteen year old fighter which instantly intrigued me more.

Giles - I was used to authority figures being relegated to the background in teen shows and was surprised what an essential amount of screentime he got.

Oz and Willow - I thought Xander and Willow would get together.

Faith Introduction - I didn't imagine they would give Buffy a rival/alter ego

Faith turning good again - I thought Faith wouldn't be able to redeem herself until Five by Five.

Willow becoming a witch - although I was extremely opposed to this at the beginning because I didn't think she needed witchcraft to make her character powerful or interesting, I was surprised at how much I liked it.

Spike and Buffy - I saw it hinted at in Season 4 but I was really pleased that the writers went for it beyond subtext.

That's all I can think of now. I haven't even listed Angel's plot twists.

Yeah, I didn't expect Faith at all! Her first appearance and the way that her character went was really surprising to me on the first watch.

I think that was one of the only things that I wasn't spoiled for.

Willow being gay

Joyce dying

The Gift sacrifice (this pleased me because it took the story beyond where I expected them to go and did it in a really tasteful way)

Spuffy

Spike getting his soul

I don't know if this counts as a plot twist per say but I was so pleasantly surprised when I saw Enemies and it turned out that angel hadn't really turned bad... it was all a set up (psych!) I was overjoyed. Cause up till then I was really upset.

Giles coming in at the end of season 6 (I'd like to test that theory)

Spike wanting to help buffy save the world

the whole spuffy thing in general

having it turn out that glory was fighting the buffy bot and not buffy at the beginning of the gift

that buffy and the scoobies orchestrated the events leading to the big fight with buffy and the uber vamp in showtime.

I think that's all I can think of for now.

I'll agree, Spike getting his soul. They did it well. They made us believe he went there to take out the chip. But then we find out that no, he wanted his soul back. And then the season ended and I was left hanging there, couldn't wait to see what will happen with it next.

Since I didn't really get into the show until later on, I knew most of the big plot twists. But, ones I was surprised at: Darla's re-siring by Drusilla, Faith's entire season 4/ATS season 1 arc, Angel attempting to suffocate Wesley, the fact that Spike planned to get his soul (I thought the demon re-ensouled him without his consent), Giles' return in Grave (well actually, Two to Go). There were a lot of AtS twists for me, because I hadn't seen or heard about much of that until I actually sat down and watched.

Biggest surprise for me was spike getting a soul

This wasnt sudden so it seemed natural but wesley going from how he is in buffy season 3 to total badass was surprising

I didn't expect Willow to be the one to go gay. I don't mind Tara at all. I even like the character, even though I think she's kinda boring, but I thought if anyone was going to be gay they were going to make Xander go gay, but it was a pleasant surprise to see how Willow's relationship with Tara bloomed. However, I'm still a diehard Woz shipper and wish Woz would happen again. 🙂

I was surprised to learn about Giles' dark roots with "The Dark Age" and seeing the Ripper side of him, but I LOVED that and wish they had explored it a little more than we got to see on the show.

I absolutely LOVED the bad Slayer arc with Faith. Although I like Faith better when she and Buffy are getting along, she is bad-ass and I loved loved loved Season 3 and Season 4's show-downs. 🙂

Spike getting a soul is the big one.

Also, Kendra being a Slayer instead of a Taraka hitwoman... Spike getting up from his wheelchair... Giles "testing that theory".

I got spoiled a lot for Buffy, and not as much for Angel. Fav Buffy plot twists (even if I was forewarned for a few) are Angel losing his soul (I knew this would happen, but I loved the after effects), Kendra being a Slayer (had absolutely no clue about that), the whole "The Gift", Spike returning in Season 4, Buffy actually having been in heaven (genius), Faith signing on with the Mayor, Faith with Wood, and Giles epic reappearance in Season Six. Oh, and Giles' Ripper past. Wished they explored that more...

Faith joining the Mayor was one I forgot to mention, that one was great, evil Slayer = genius!

I read a lot of spoilers before I actually watched Buffy but there were moments that still surprised me.

Buffy "dying" in Prophecy Girl. I didn't think she was actually going to die but it was kind of cool that she did because it set up the "two slayers" thing.

Angel losing his soul. I knew it was going to happen but I didn't know when and how. How he lost his soul surprised me and I found it really interesting to watch him all BA.

Angel "losing his soul" in Enemies I don't know if this is considered a plot twist but I was caught off guard when it was revealed that he was just pretending the entire time.

Wood being a Slayer's son It was a crazy twist that Wood was the son of a Slayer that Spike killed

Spike being controlled by the First That whole trigger thing was intense.

Anya dying I knew Spike was going to die but not Anya.

Angel losing his soul

Buffy killing Angel in Becoming

Willow & Xander's brief mutual attraction to each other in s3

Buffy stabbing Faith in "Graduation Day"

Buffy forcing Angel to drink her blood in "Graduation Day"

Harmony becoming a vampire

Oz leaving Willow for good

Willow being gay

Buffy having a little sister

Buffy's death in "The Gift"

The whole musical was a pleasant surprise

Buffy & Spike at the end of "Smashed"

Riley being married after only a year

Tara's death

Cassie really dying at the end of "Help"

Anya's destruction at the frat house in "Selfless"

Just to name a few...

One of the biggest twists for me was the introduction of Dawn.
Not sure if it was more pleasantly than some others but it sure was a huge wtf!? moment.

Very hard to not keep watching after an ending like that. lol
Loved watching Buffy for the first time. I kinda miss it. 🙂

Buffy stabbing Faith.

Darla being re-sired by Drusilla then seeing dark Angel going after Darla and Dru. Darla's pregnancy was a bit of a shocker as well.

I guess I was most surprised when Spike started developing feeling for Buffy. I didn't see it coming, and I was shocked at how much I liked it!
