Rene's thread about which episode you would choose to try and convince a friend of Buffy's greatness inspired this topic. If you had a friend who was willing to watch a handful of eps instead of just one which story arc/episodes would you choose? I would go with Season 2's Angelus arc and the episodes "Surprise", "Innocence", "Passion", "Becoming Pt. 1", and "Becoming Pt. 2". I think that's such a key part of the overall Buffy story and it's also when the show really came into it's own.

I completely agree. The Buffy/Angel/Angelus story arc is by far the most captivating. Also, by watching this story arc, one also gets to see the Willow/Oz, Xander/Cordy and Giles/Jenny relationships... As I said, this is all so powerful because love is the one universal theme, something that everyone can relate to.

Also, If you're not quite the romantic, there's also the sadistic aspect of it to appeal to people and the comedy never ends, not even in the midst of tradgedy and heartache.

Yes, Bangelus it is.

I was convincing my friend to watch Buffy by getting out my DVDs and making him watch them. Now he's hooked. I let him see the Buffy/Angel/Angelus story arc and the human Darla/Darla/Angel/dark Angel/Drusilla arc. I lent my other friend my Angel S2 and S3 DVD so she got to see human Darla/Darla/Angel/dark Angel/Drusilla, human Darla/Darla/Angel/dark Angel/Drusilla/Lilah/Lindsey, Darla/Angel/Connor, Lilah/Gavin/W&H, and Angel/Connor/Holtz story arcs.

Let's see kind of a hard question, but I'm sure anyone would be hooked by watching the "Key" arc of BTVS season 5. It's not like season 7 where you need to know all this information about the characters past. But yeah, that arc would get anybody hooked due to "The Body", X/A relationship, Spikes evolving and Buffy taking responsibility for the people she loves.

i would force them to watch the Buffy/Angel(us) arc, Angel/Human-Vamp Darla Arc, and Willow/Tara arc. I will add more.
