OKay in I think it was the Yoko Factor Buffy and friends are at Giles' apartment they argue and Willow and Buffy are off being the two Willow then says that Buffy and Xander are the two. I'm wondering if who you think the real best friends in the scoobies. Personally I think it's all three of them in it together. I mean there are episodes where it's Buffy and Xander then Willow and Xander then Willow and Buffy but overall I think they're all besties till the end in it together.
 
I said that they are all in it together, they are all close friends and that is what makes up the scoobies, friendship!
 
Well, it seems to me like either it's all of them or none of them (or each on their own). What I mean is that, their friendship is obviously better at times and less good at times. But when it is less good, it seems like none of them are really that close to any of the others. Like in season 4, they sort of lost each other there for a while, but it seemed like they all lost each other, it wasn't like Willow/Xander or Xander/Buffy were still close or anything.

These situations, like in season 4, are in my opinion the saddest moments on BtVS. Like in season 7, where they all sort of drift apart (which I guess is an understatement eh), it's just heartbreaking, mhm...

Yes Xander and Will go back further, but i think with what they have seen and done, they are all on the same page, thats why they are all really hurt. I would even include Giles, even though he is older, because as much as he is a Father figure, he is one of them.
 
Wow, I have to agree with Alister, I've not been that confused in a while, but I get the gist of what you where asking.

I would have to say that they are all in it together, both during the good times and bad. When they are all friends then they are all together and when they have their little fallouts (I agree epo, that's an understatement in S7), then they all are apart from one another not just one of them. They all go there separate ways.

I don't think when I think of Buffy, Willow and Xander I don't think of one set of 2 people. I think of them as a whole.
 
I see them as a whole they are all good friends and the scoobies are based on friendship. tho willow/xander go the farthest [BARBIE]. But still i dont think there is a 2 who are the 2.
 
I voted for all in it together too, as the dynamics of their relationships with each other are always changing, you can't pick one relationship out that is stronger than the other. Evidence of when a threesome really is good thing! 😀

They are definitely in it together! Even though Willow and Xander were best friends for a while before Buffy, I think that Buffy and Willow had an excellent friendship as well. And who wouldn't want to be friends with Xander? 🙂
 
I think that they're in it all together too.i never feel like there was two bestfriends ( B&W or B&X or W&X) and the third isolated.

The way that they're walking in the corridor in sunnydale high in "chosen" and somehow saying goodbye to eatchothers 'cause they don't know if they'll survive make me think that they really were the three and not the two.

It wouldn't seem right if they were branched off into groups. All for ONE and ONE for ALL!!
 
Xander & Willow. They stood for eachother. A lot. With Buffy in the mix, there was always a tension, but a good one, I daresay maybe it was a sexual one. Buffy & Xander is always based on "want"; Xander always wanted Buffy and always will. Willow & Buffy is always based on "wanting to be the other"; Willow wanted to be Buffy; strong, Buffy wanted to be Willow; all-knowledge. At the end of Season 6, that was obviously given; Darth Willow tainting Buffy that they are even in strength, Buffy knowing that Willow is not and was to come back. At the end of Season 7, with the kicking off Buffy, losing faith in her (no pun intended), Buffy grew stronger because she could go on without friends too. That leaves Xander & Willow whom never lost faith in eachother (again no pun intended).
 
Ok...first of all...let me get my sarcastic voice out....nice thread name. Real...intelligent.


I totally vote for Xander and Willow, they have been together their entire lives, they lived and almost died together multiple times, and even saved eachother (and the entire world). I always felt like Buffy was an outsider, Xander and Willow have so much more together than they do with Buffy, they had yellow crayons and aquaman underoos...and what did Buffy have? Exactly.
 
Earlier in the seasons i would have said it was Willow and Xander but now so much has changed for them, so i defintily think its all 3 of them in it together.
 
I do agree that as the seasons went on, they got closer, but I still think Xander would die for Willow before Buffy. There is just so much there between them, and I couldn't see that going any other way.
 
I must be one of the minority, because I voted Buffy and Willow. Those two are not only the most powerful, but I think as far as friendships go they have the closest. Even when Willow was trying to kill Buffy she also saved her life by removing the bullet. They have seen each other at their best and worst and been there for each other through everything, like supporting each other when the other broke up with Angel and Oz and just saw each other through some really hard times that I think they probably talked to each other about because they didn't feel that Xander could understand - nothing against Xander of course, just that they needed that girl-girl friendship and I think it made them best friends. Plus Xander had a crush on Buffy early on and the same with Willow having a crush on Xander and there was never any sexual tension like that between Buffy and Willow.
 
I don't have an answer. I just know while I was reading the thread favourite scenes popped into my head.

Xander/Willow - Ice cream on the nose, "you must be Amish" scene from When She Was Bad.

Xander/Buffy - Xander's big brother speach to Buffy concerning Riley in Into the Woods

Xander/Buffy/Willow - The psychic connection scene around the table with the potentials in Showtime, or if you include Giles; the four points of the compass thing we see in Yoko Factor, and Chosen, or "the world is doomed" thing they do.

Buffy/Willow - The "I'm so strong, I'm giving it away" scene on the bed in Same Time, Same Place.
 
I think none of them were the two.. They all had something that bonded them together. Buffy and Willow has a really strong friendship, and it seemes like when something happens (like brakeups or so) they go to eachother for support. But Xander and Willow has a long history together, just like Anya says in TriangleWillow knows a part of Xander that noone else can since they grew up together. And Xander/Buffy are really close too, I really like their moments together like the one in Into the Woods and I Was Made to Love You("Well, I'll say this, she's a pretty cool person to be alone with")
 
When Willow said You two are the two in this episode she mean that they were both talking about her whereas we know that Spike was playing them off on each other to split them up

It wasnt a reference to which pair are more crucial in the gang
