Which vamp sirings were the most selfish?

My choice is Darla. Yes, she needed someone to be with her throughout (what she thought would be eternity) but I'd like to think Liam would've eventually straightened himself out, married a nice Irish girl, and ended up content.

Thoughts?
 
Angelus siring Drusilla. He didn't need company, he already had a girlfriend, and yet he tortured her and literally drove her insane. Drusilla just wanted someone to love her, and she even asked Spike. Darla wanted company, and Liam also succumbed somewhat willingly. But Drusilla didn't want what happened to her.
 
1. Angelus /Drusilla for the reasons mentioned above
2. Harmonly, it was just done randomly, for the sake of it, but Harmony is better of at the end than Drusilla is
 
They're virtually all selfish since they're vampires...but Drusilla was the cruelest one shown.

I found it incongruous that Spike would turn his mother, and that Gunn's sister seemed to genuinely want to turn Gunn out of sibling affection. I've even thought about how to make sense out of that (since technically they're demons who don't overly identify with their mortal lives, and in a book I read it showed vampires who found it hilarious how trusting the mortal family was of the vampire, as well as how easy it was to get at them), and though I did come up (and find) some ideas to explain it, I don't recall what they were offhand.

And I'm recalling when a vampire refused to turn someone out of selfishness...Darla the human was trying to find a vampire to turn her back into a vampire with her describing herself as his mate...and the vampire was balking, saying it sounded a lot like commitment. 😀
 
Yeah, I think probably Spike turning his mom is the selfish, just because that's the one that stands out as being just for the vampire. Angelus turning Dru would have been my other answer before I read redruM's post, but thinking about that I think it was more about being evil and taking pleasure in destroying someone than selfishness.

I think Spike turning his mom is the least selfish thing of all sires. 1. She was sick and old. So he might have thought that turning would help her and give her the present of eternal life. 2. . He was very close to her, it is only natural that he wants her to be part of his life, and one can assume that she would want to be part of his life too.
Whereas turning just for pleasure and destruction is much more selfish to me than any other motive. Which makes Angelus siring Dru the worst and selfish act of all sires.

Spike turning his Mum was definitely the most tragic. Her demon was particularly vile to young vamp William, he clearly thought having his mother around would be all sweetness and light.

Wasn't his mother ill though? Is it truly selfish to want to save the life of your sick mother, who you adore above everything else in the world? I think you could argue he was trying not to be selfish, but in a selfish way....

But he was doing it because he didn't want to lose her, which is selfish. I think maybe we are looking at the word selfish a different way.

Well, then Darla siring Liam was the same way of selfish , or even more selfish since Liam was a stranger to her. Apart from that is it selfish not to want someone to die? I mean, if someone in your family is sick, would not you try every medicine to cure that family member ? For me that is what Spike did, tried what he thought would be the ultimate cure.
 
I guess I'm not seeing selfish in a negative way, just who did it for themselves the most. I'm not saying it was wrong for Spike to sire his mother or that no one else would have done the same thing, but, it was for himself that he did it. He didn't want to be without her.
 
He thought it would be fun for he, Dru and his mum to travel the world and live forever. It was selfish.
 
Well, they're all pretty selfish. Except Angelus/Drusilla - that's more in a bizarre psychotic territory.

Darla wanted a companion (with Angel), Drusilla wanted a companion (with Spike), I can't for the life of me remember why Angelus turned Penn, Spike did it his mom in out of misguided love,... so I guess I'll say Drusilla turning Darla, she was trying to recapture something that was already lost. Re-damning the undamned. I suppose one could argue that she was lonely, but she seemed to be doing just fine without the fang gang, it was just want. Not need.

I thought she came around during The Trial, and didn't really want to get vamped anymore, but to die in peace. I had to look it up because I haven't seen it in a while but she had this exchange with Angel

Angel: How could The Powers allow you to be brought back, dangle a second chance and take it away like this?
Darla: Maybe this is my second chance.
Angel: To die?
Darla: Yes. To die. The way I was supposed to die in the first place.

So if Drusilla had come at the start of the episode it would have been different. But at the end, they took Darla more or less with force.

It depends on your perspective. I'd say it's no more selfish than anything else. I mean, yeah he wanted to be with her but in that respect if you use the word selfish to describe most behaviour. From Spike's perspective, he becoming a vampire was his salvation and he wanted to share that with his mother. So it's about as selfish and wanting to share happiness with someone you love, which would make most sane humans selfish a-holes 😉

Oh don't get me wrong, I was being somewhat facetious but I still believe Spike siring his mother was pointedly selfish as from his perspective, he was doing her a favour.
