Which was the most depressing, shocking, and suprising death in the buffyverse?

I just wanted to know which death you guys thought was the most important death out of all of the MAJOR DEATHs... I am not talking about 1 episode people I am talking major storyline characters.
 
God, they're all schockers, buffy, doyle, anya...but I would have to say
Cordelia was the most schocking and surprising
, but Anya was most depressing.
 
Cordy. Not just because hers was the most recent. She's been around since the beginning, and of those around Angel she was the only one who'd been around so long. We've gotten to know her so well that it's hard to imagine she's gone.

1) Jenny Calander
2) Angel (I know he didn't die permantly, but it wasn't expected for him to come back like it was for buffy)
3) Joyce Summers
4) Tara Maclay
5) Doyle
5) Darla
6) Connor (As a baby... same excuse as Angel)
7) Spike (Once again... same excuse)
8) Anya
 
I think that Joyce gets it for most shocking. I think that was the first time we'd seen a completely natural death (without any demon aid) in Buffy. It was so real and surreal at the same time, I didn't believe that it had really happened all through the episode.

Depressing? They all really depressed me.
 
lol i still find the most surprising death to be the random guy that darla kill sin the opening scene of welcome to the hellmouth, i can still remeber the way i was like "oh my god oh my god, but hes the bad one" i was young and foolish lol

most shocking death was Tara, id been staying spoiler free, and then i was like, oh wow she finally in the credits, then *bang* really dead tara 🙁

and the most depressing would be Joyce
 
Jenny's death struck me quite hard... Seeing the gang's reaction, especially Buffy slowly slipping on to the floor upon hearing it.

But the award has to go to Joyce, since it was her death that made The Body possible...
 
I would have to go with Joyce. Her death was totally unexpected and she was practically a "civilian". Buffy lost one of the main grounding influences in her life and it made the next few eps compelling viewing.

I'm going to have to go with Joyce too.

It was just so real. Buffys reaction to her death (to me) was just so spot on. The throwing up, the obvious helplessness of the situation. Especially found the Anya scene amazingly depressing and when Buffy tells Dawn.........shivers down my spine! And the ending where you realise that after such a shocking, unexpected death life still goes on. The world doesn't stop and you have to keep going.
 
Truthfully, they all shocked me. Tara's really did...because of the way it was filmed..we just saw the blood hit Willow.

Joyce's because Buffy came home and found her there...and then Buffy and Dawn's reactions..just incredibly acted...

Angel because he turned back from Angelus..and you knew what she was going to do but you kinda hoped she wouldnt' have to do it...but she did it anyways..

Anya ..so shocking because it was so fast...it just kept right in tempo with the rest of the episode...battles are quick, so are deaths in battles.
 
Joyce...I will never get over Buffy's initial reaction...

"Mom....Mom....Mommy..."

Tara...I jumped out of my seat and started shouting "oh my god!" My family was like..."are you okay"...the parralellism between Xander holding Buffy and Willow holding Tara...and then Willow's eyes the second before the end credits hit...

But actually...these are not the most shocking deaths I've seen...

I'm suprised....none of you said Warren...
I mean...Willow fileted him...We all knew he was going to die..but we figured it would be Buffy or Spike..or hell...even Xander...but Willow? Our sweet innocent Willow? Sure she was a magic junkie...but that's long leap from junkie to killer...

I figured Anya would die..since she wanted off the show, it was ending...and they needed at least one season regular to die...however...I didn't expect it to be so abrupt...and I kinda wish Xander had found her body..maybe lingered over her for a moment or two before Dawn pulled him away...

Ben's death was a bit suprising as well...once again...we don't expect Giles or Willow to kill somebody...Buffy, Riley, Spike, Xander, Anya...yes...but Willow or Giles? Scary.
 
I thought Joyce's death was done really well. It was a very emotional scene. But the death that got me the most was Angel's. I think it was because Angel looked so lost and he didn't know what was happening. The look on Buffy's face as she was holding him and she sees the portal open is so devastating.

that's true...that scene was so sad,poor Angel...🙁 ::crying2: ::uh:: ::crying2:
 
I'd have to say Tara, because I was so depressed after that. Also, you-know-who, but that's a spoiler.
 
I think the two deaths that affected me the most were Joyce and Cordelia. Their deaths upset me the most because they died in (more or less) natural ways.
 
well the ones that got me

Tara, never saw that one coming
Joyce, saw that eppy new, never have seen it again, scared the living hell out of me
Doyle, I knew he left the show, and I knew he died, but the first 10 eppy's? Damn, and it was not a death that was lame, if I was a Jossverse character the way to go out is the way DOyle went, damn
 
i would have to say joyces death..the whole episode was just really shocking and sad
