In Becoming Part 2 Whistler makes a comment about how Angel was suppose to stop Acathla not bring him forth.

Whistler: Hello to the imagery! Very nice. (seriously) It wasn't
supposed to go down like this. (moves away from the wall) Nobody saw you coming. I figured this for Angel's big day. But I thought he was here to stop Acathla, not to bring him forth. Then you two made with the smoochies... now he's a creep again. Now, what are you gonna do? W-what are you prepared to do?

So, if Angel wasn't suppose to bring forth Acathla, who was?

It wasn't Spike. He'd made it quite clear that he liked the way things were and Dru doesn't seem able to plan something like that.

Ooo, good catch. Maybe it goes all the way back to the fact that the Master was supposed to rise from the hellmouth... and if that happened, he would've been the one to bring forth Acathla? Or maybe it was supposed to be the little kid - the Chosen One... but Spike ended up killing him which screwed everything up.

Basically, I have no idea.🙂

yea, im sure many new vamps would want to try, but we also saw that only Angel's blood was the key to Acathala, no one elses worked, like the others he killed to use their blood, so if he werent the one to bring him forth, i wonder who would be?

I don't think it was only Angelus' blood that could open Acathla. I think it was who ever was doing the ritual had to use their own blood, not like Angelus tried it the first time. And because it was Angel's blood that opened the portal it was Angel's blood that had to be used to close it.

This is what Whistler said about the blood:
Whistler: Angel's the key. His blood will open the door to Hell. Acathla opens his big mouth, creates a vortex. Then only Angel's blood will close it. One blow will send 'em both back to Hell. But I strongly suggest that you get there before that happens, 'cause the faster you kill Angel, the easier it's gonna be on you.

I think it was probably the Annointed One, cause the Master kept repeating he was his greatest weapon.

I'd say the Master.

The propechy was for Buffy to die at the hands of the master... and he would've risen... so he should've been the one.

When the Master was suppose to rise in the episode The Prophecy, he was suppose to open the hellmouth with him. So why would he need to open another gate to hell?

Drusilla probably wouldve ended up trying to open it up, along with the help of Spike since well that was Dru's present.

And the Master wasnt meant to bring forth Acathla because he didnt do it in The Wish.

Personally, I don't think Dru had the right state of mind to plan something like that and Spike didn't want Acathla to come forth, that was why he helped Buffy to stop Angelus.

The thing about The Wish is it's in an alternate reality and Buffy never made it to Sunnydale. So the Master would have rose in the episode The Hellmouth. Using what we know from the actual timeline in that episode The Master was to be set free, not raise the Hellmouth, he was only to open the Hellmouth in Prophecy Girl, but in the alternate reality he didn't need to because he was already free.

Now, in this alternate timeline, Angel is still good and there's no hell on earth. So, the Master could have wanted to bring forth Acathla.

yes but I think its still Dru since she was the one who has all the visions and knew about the Acathla, along with the fact that it was in the newspaper and Spike probably wouldnt have minded ending earth if Angelus never resurfaced. Drusilla may not be in the right of mind to think of something like that but I think she would do it, after her ritual to get back all of her streangth she wasnt that crazy as before.

Dru and Spike already let the Judge out and they knew that he would go on a killing spree killing all the humans, so there isnt that big of a difference between him and Acathla except one tends to suck the earth into hell and one just kills everybody.

Am I missing something, I thought Angel and Angel alone, was the one worthy to pull out the sword from Acathla. Spike knew he was there, but he helped buffy stop Angel.

Whistler told Buffy that Angel's blood was the key I took that to meaning that because Angel had opened Acathla with his blood, his blood was the one that had to be used to close it.

Angel couldn't have been the only one to be able to bring forth Acathla because Whistler also said that this was meant to be Angel's big day, he was suppose to stop Acathla, not bring him forth.

I think the main difference between the Judge and Acathla is that Spike and Dru would have had control over the Judge, they still could have kept humans alive to feed off. But Acathla would have brought forth a number of stronger demons, demons that Spike and Dru would have had no control over, and eventually all the humans would have been wiped out.

It's true that Dru would probably have liked to open Acathla, but I think Spike saw the bigger picture...that if they opened Acathla all the humans on earth would eventually be killed. And I think if Angelus hadn't been there to persuade Dru, Spike would have taken charge and told her that they shouldn't open Acathla.
