Okay, who knows who this picture is of? I am crap at identify older rockers so can someone please help to not look stupid? lol

I might be inclined to give out some points for this one... 😀

Looks familiar but the pic isn't really all that good - I'm thinking 70's NY punker, someone like Richard Hell or Johnny Thunders but I couldn't be sure...
Have you got any other clues?
 
That would be the genre I would think too...only other clue is that he was referred to as "the man, the legend."

I was thinking Joe Strummer or Joey Ramone, but then it doesn't really look like them lol
 
Is it definately an older rock star because he looks a little like Liam Gallagher but the picture really isn't clear so i couldn't swear to it.

Where is the picture from Buffy? That might help narrow down the options
 
lol Liam Gallagher is what I said jokingly. It's my friend's MSN pic lol - we play "guess who my avatar is". But this one I feel like I should know so I was embarassed to say so lol. And this guy would never put up a pick of Liam.
 
Not too surprised, totally the wrong cheek bone structure for Liam but with him sucking on a cigarette i thought his face may just look a little distorted.

My first instinct when i glanced at the pic was to say The Ramones as you already mentioned. Couldn't say for sure though.
 
Could it be Lou Reed - an early-ish pic?
 
At first I thought it could be Richard Ashcroft from The Verve, until you said he was a 'legend'
 
Richard Ashcroft, that's the other guy the picture reminds me of! Been racking my brain for who it was since last night! 🙂
 
This NME cover of the "legend in his own head" that is Richard Ashcroft bears a startling similarity to your pic, Buff...perhaps it is him or, at least, the cover may be an homage to a more famous pic (ie. your one)

I guess it all depends on who he classes as legends.
 
Yeah I thought it might be him too, but then I looked at earlier pics of him and couldn't find one that looked like that.

That pic of Ashcroft does look like him Pointy...could be an homage...or maybe my friend just has messed up ideas of who a legend is lol...or maybe he was kidding 😀
 
Buffy, now you've got us all wondering you do realise you are going to have to ask your friend who this guy actually is right? 😉
 
Yes - it clear that we are not going to have a painless revelation of who the pic is of lol

Yet if all of us can't figure it out, then I don't feel so bad not knowing lol
 
Hehe, no i think it's fair to say that one wasn't an easy guess.

I've got a gut feeling though that whoever it is has been mentioned by one of us in this thread already. How many more rock legends (and i use legends in a very loose way in some cases) can possibly look like that?

Don't know why but i'm now leaning towards a much younger Lou Reed.
