Who are you? Did Eliza D or SMG do a better job?

Eliza. The better actress by far. Sarah just overdid it for me. As she often does. Not that much though.
 
No believe me, I love both, but as soon as I heard SMG's "What are you talkin about?" I was completely floored. Like how can she do that? Her Boston accent was perfect.
 
They both did an awesome job but I would have loved to see Eliza play Buffy more in the episode.

I completely agree with you.
 
I thought SMG did a better job probably just because she is a better overall actress but she really captured everything about Faith perfectly down to her mannerisms and facial expressions where I felt like Eliza was just acting all goody goody which basically anyone can do.
 
IMO, I think they did a very good job playing each other. Everyone should kept in mind, their characters are pretending to be each other. So I bet that in itself was hard for them. I think Eliza was too meek. Buffy is strong. Eliza seemed just confused...and scared the whole time. But overall well. SMG however, yea she was too tough...and a bit slutty....but that is what Faith would do. I am sort of torn tell you the truth.
 
SMG by far, imo one of Sarahs finest acting moments on Buffy, she nailed it. Just like Davie boy Boreanez was better at acting when he was Angelus, smg is better at acting the baddie too, like when she was Faith or in Cruel intentions.
 
There was one thing that annoyed me about Eliza's portrayal of Buffy. In the scene in Giles' apartment, Buffy (in Faith's body) moves a piece of hair away from her face using her pinky finger. That's a decidedly Faith move. Buffy wouldn't have done that.

I think Sarah did better, but I think they were both amazing.
 
I think they both did a good job but SMG was always the stand out for me. I dont think Eliza did a bad job though.
 
I thought they were both very convincing as each other's character.

In some scenes, it was ED who did the better job; in other scenes, it was SMG.

However, there were two specific scenes in which I thought they really pulled off each other's character in a most excellent way:

ED in the scene with Giles ("stop inching - you were inching!")
and SMG in the scene where she imaginably stabs Willow

but it was the fight scene in the church where I thought they both just pulled it off to perfection! I think they're both very good actresses and it can't be easy to play someone else's character. So, 2 thumbs up! :thumbs_up :thumbs_up 😀
 
It's a little hard to evaluate Dushku's performance as Buffy since there's really only one scene where she has a significant amount of dialogue.

The two scenes that stand out are ED as Buffy taking to Giles and SMG as Faith in the Bronze. What had to be especially difficult for SMG was not just playing Faith, but playing Faith trying to imitate Buffy...
 
I've watched this episode almost to the point of memorization (it's my favorite episode of Buffy, so of course I've watched it a lot), and I'm always more impressed with Eliza. In the scene between her and Giles, she just nailed it -- I will literally watch that scene over and over and over (it's the inching comment). Though, I have to give Sarah a lot of credit -- she carried most of the episode, though I've never completely fell into the mindset of "this is Faith" while watching her, which has always thrown me off.

I will say that I'm slightly biased towards Eliza and tend to like her acting a lot more than other people (I don't see anything wrong with her in Dollhouse, despite most people having issues with her), but that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

What's interesting is that, according to a panel with Eliza, she and Sarah never talked about how to play each other -- they just watched a lot of film of each other and copied each other from there. Kind of an interesting way to do it, to me.
 
I've always thought that Eliza did a fantastic job as Buffy. She manages to deliver her lines in the exact manner that Sarah does when she's playing Buffy and she even softens her features so that her facial expressions look like Sarah's. I completely felt like I was watching Buffy.

Sarah, on the other hand, underwhelmed me. She seemed to go with her own version of Faith instead of emulating Eliza and the whole performance just seemed unnatural to me.
