Who do people know David Boreanaz as now?

So who do you think the world sees David Boreanaz as of 2013? Angel the Vampire with a soul from "Buffy" and his own series or Seely Booth?

I think most people probably see him as one of those entrenched television actors who just really sticks to one thing, which is pretty accurate. Beyond that though, I would think he's widely thought of as the guy from Bones. Angel was a long time ago. But for me, he'll always be Angel. He could be cast as the next Batman tomorrow and I'd still always think of him as Angel.

He'll never be anyone other than Angel to me. I don't care how long he plays other characters. But (to my dismay) I think the majority see him as Booth now.

I don't think he'll ever shed either image, he is always going to be knows as Angel the vampire turned Booth the FBI agent.

I loved the show Bones before I first watched Buffy or Angel so I have trouble looking passed Booth.

To me, DB will always be Angel. I'm happy to see him in other roles and after Bones I hope it will continue to do other things, but I will always remember him as "Angel. The vampire with a soul" The great love of Buffy and the father of Connor 🙂

I think the 2013 world mostly sees him as Seely Booth, and it's understandable as Bones is a modern show, but as a BTVS fan I will never be able to split him by the Angel character.

He will always be know for both. Just like AH will always be known as Willow as well as Lily. They've both moved on to successful shows.

It remains to be seen whether SMG will only ever be known for Buffy, but there's still time.

janas agrees: I think "Bones" will be forgotten in a few years, but the Buffyverse will remain long in the memory of many fans.

I quite like Bones, but in general I agree. Angel is an iconic character part of pop culture, Booth is not. An argument could be made for Temperance "Bones" Brennan being a cultural icon, but Booth is one of a dozen military veteran-turned FBI agents on TV right now.

That said, he's one of my favorites in that archetype, and brings a unique energy, but it's not a defining character for Western media.

You look at William Shatner, I've never seen him play Captain Kirk in Star Trek, I've seen him in lots of other, arguably more successful projects, yet I know him as Captain James T. Kirk. Never seen Tom Selleck play Magnum PI, love his other work, yet think of him as Magnum. Richard Dean Anderson is defined by MacGyver despite a huge television career spanning decades.

To be honest, I think Boreanaz will be remembered as Angel or not at all. Christopher Meloni had far more commercial success as Detective Stabler on L&O: SVU (1999-2011), yet I strongly doubt he'll be remembered as Stabler ten years from now--that wouldn't bode well for Boreanaz' Booth of lesser commercial & critical success.

I don't know about anyone else but he will always be angel to me same as SMG will always be buffy to me and Allyson H will always be willow and so on

I think the whole Buffy crew face the fact that at one point or another, they'll be remembered only for their work on Buffy. A lot of them are really successful, but look at BtVS, it's been 10+years and people still talk about it like it was yesterday. Bones might be really popular, but I predict that a few years after it's over, people will forget all bout Booth. Right now though, DB is definitely better known as Booth than as Angel.

I think we as fans overestimate how much non-fans will remember BTVS and Angel. I think people in general are much more likely to remember David as Booth than as Angel.

Yeah I definitely think it will be Booth, Angel never had the same pop culture thing that Buffy did, if you ever read lists of those like 'Top Pop Culture' shows, Angel is never really featured but is usually included as a mention under BtVS.

Also the most David was featured in the news was during the cheating/sexual harassment scandals and it was during his time as Booth, so I think for the general population he'll be referred to as Booth.

I'd probably agree that right this moment Boreanaz might be better known as Booth, but I think in ten years' time, people will likely either remember him as Angel or not at all.

Cult shows are always remembered better, like someone else posted about Shatner and Star Trek. In 20 years when Bones is finished Buffy and Angel will still be finding new fans. The 13 year olds of today may know him as Booth, but he'll be seen as Angel again by the 13 year olds of the future.

I think it depends who you ask. Someone in the age bracket of like 20-30 will probably remember him as Angel because Buffy was bigger when they were growing up. Someone who is in their mid 30's or later now will probably remember him as Booth because that's the show for their demographic.

I'm a huge Angel fan and I think of him as Booth more than Angel now... so I'm gonna go with Booth. To non-fans I think one would probably have to remind them what he was on before that even if they can say that they recognize him pre-Booth.

I don't think you can compare Angel and Star Trek in that way. As I said before, Joe Blow on the street doesn't know who Angel is. It's not like Shatner and Kirk. Again, as fans, I think we overestimate how many people actually know of the show...
