Who Do You Admire

Without going into great detail 🙂 I admire my Mum for the strength and courage she shows on a daily basis and my Dad for having the strength of character to create the life he wanted for himself and not bow to the expectations of others.

My sports idol is Joe Montana, legendary quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers who never knew when he was beaten and gave 100% every time.

Guy Laliberté. He was considered as a lunatic when he lived in Quebec and Baie-Saint-Paul (small town in Quebec), but he did everything in his power to create his dream circus. And today, the Cirque du Soleil is the biggest circus in the world.

Joss Whedon. For he usually does things for himself before anyone else. He creates shows/movies because he likes the ideas, not because it's going to make money. I admire this quality about him, just as much as I admire the man himself for not stopping trying to make tv shows/movies despite the response he got sometimes.

I admire people who are willing to work hard. Whether its in a relationship or a job I think it's a good quality to have. I also admire determined people for similar reasons. Finally people with mega talents are just amazing and do their part in inspiring many people. On my personal list would be Christina Aguilera, Sandra Bullock and many other people I can't think of right now 😀

Gonna elaborate on mine now... Couldn't earlier on my phone.

James Marsters - the way he holds himself and lives his life... He's got issues... and he's actually like never afraid to mention them. I adore how he owns up to his terrible temper all the time... and he frequently owns up to his status as an attention whore too. But he constantly says that these things aren't things he's ashamed of. Being an attention whore is good for business... And having a temper, while it is something to work on, is also an integral part of who he is. He also thinks so much... he's like me, he feels the world. And when he thinks... he feels. They're kind of one in the same. He's constantly analyzing the world around him and when he talks about it... you can FEEL his wonder of the world. Honestly... that wonder and the fact that he's almost 50 and still has it inspires me more than you could ever know. Plus... he's like such a good dad. BIG plus.

Taylor Swift - She took life by the horns and DEMANDED it give her what she wanted from it when she was 16 years old. When she was 14, her family moved to Nashville to help her achieve her dreams to be a country superstar. When she was 15, she got a record deal with Universal... She DECLINED that deal because they wouldn't let her write her own songs and sing them. She got a publishing deal with Sony ATV publishing around the same time and wrote songs for other artists to sing. She left that job because her songs were too personal for others to sing. She kept pursuing her dreams and when she was 16 she was offered a deal by a man who said he was about to leave Universal and start an independent label and wanted her to be his first artist. She agreed and her career began. To have those guts! This woman is 22 and has already achieved so much... And she's not slowing down. She doesn't wait for anyone... she moves at a very fast pace and she makes life give her what she wants. How can that not inspire someone?

Misha Collins- Ok... I'm so enamored with my love for him... so I don't know if I can really describe it. he lives his like there's no tomorrow. Like... there's so much life to live and there should never be an excuse to not live it. He does so much... and most of it is just for the hell of it. He started acting just for the hell of it... he holds a Guinness world record that he broke just for the hell of it... and without even trying. Like that was not the intention behind it... I could give you a very impressive list of things he's done... in a variety of different fields. But none of that is as important as the love that projects from him. He's so kind. I mean... yeah... he's an asshole... but he's not. Like he'll take pictures of random guys in Italy with their buttcrack showing and post it on the internet with the caption "I love Rome, there's always such wonderful sites to see." But he'll also buy a random kid on the street some shoes because the kid's dad can't afford them. He started a charity.. Random Acts. He calls himself 'The Overlord' and his fans his 'minions.' The thought here is he's going to take over the world... starting with random acts of kindness. I don't think I'll ever get over how cool that is. "Death to normalcy" is his favorite phrase... because like me, he knows that normalcy is the enemy of all things fun and interesting. Normal is boring... and someone needs to kill it. As you can see, I'm so deeply inspired by Misha that I can't really put it into words... so...

And then there's Rachel - She's the earth to my fire. She really is. She grounds me and I love it. She inspires me by being herself every day. Her family throws a lot of shit at her because she dresses rather... unconventionally. But she does it anyway. A lot of her personality gets overlooked by a lot of people. She dresses in tutus and big poofy skirts... Like a girly girl. And she is.. but that's not all she is. She's got a bite.. a bang. I'd describe the world in her head as a mix between the Wizarding World as described by Harry Potter and Wonderland. A dark but not dark magical place where everything happens for a reason and anything can happen. THAT inspires me. Spending time with her... you can FEEL that magic she sees everywhere. Being with her makes the world feel better... less normal. And as I've already mentioned with Mish... normal sucks. I just really love Rachel and she inspires me all the time.

I admire different people for different things. My mother (for reasons I won't go into) because she is perhaps the strongest woman I know and not just because she put up with me.

Rafael Nadal - He is my favourite tennis player and i'm reading his autobiography at the minute. The man has this passion and heart that just takes over when he plays. He might be two sets down but in his heart he truly believes he can win and will fight every point like it is Championship Point. His discipline is perhaps the strongest that I have ever seen. He worked so hard to get to the top of his game and unlike a lot of young sportsmen isn't all over the gossip pages.

If I could have just a tiny bit of his determination and discipline i'd be happy.

I would say that I too admire a lot of people and for a lot of different reasons 🙂

I have a ton of authors I admire, either for their writing or storytelling skills. They probably make up the bulk of my list as I love the written word and most kinds of fiction. Also because I wish I could write like them. 🙂

I admire my maternal grandmother because she was an incredibly strong woman with an iron-will but a very accepting and kind nature.

Oh and I admire Eliza Dushku every year when I see that she rallies her fans to donate to different charities for her birthday. I think that's nice.

@The Dark Avenger as the OP is there anyone you admire?

J
Joshua
Yes. My idol, Britney Spears. She's suffered a public meltdown for 2/3 years and still shows a nice attitude.
I admire people for a variety of reasons, but first and foremost I admire people who choose to do what is right over what is easy, and who stand up for those that can't stand up for themselves. People who challenge the world around them and inspire others to be better, or even to want to be better.

If you want names, to me, one of the greatest individuals who ever walked this planet is Swedish author of children's fiction Astrid Lindgren. I challenge anyone to read her books and become a bad person. With the exception of maybe Erich Kästner I have yet to find another author able to express such profound truths about humankind in such simple terms that 8-year-olds can understand them perfectly and adults are still baffled by them.

Julie Burchill the journalist. She's driven, ambitious, honest and has a unique way of seeing things.

Also people like Sartre/Simone de Beauvoir and Morrissey.

Oh so many people!!!! I tend to gravitate to people I admire but I'll stick to famous people....

- Hank Azaria - I don't know why but I just kinda love him. I sense he has a really good heart and is filled with passion.

- Mos Def - same - and I love his political opinions - I think he really would like to see change in the world

- Harpo Marx - he could play pretty much any instrument

- Alan Alda - I think he has this innate curiosity that fascinates me

- Bill Cosby - Funny and deep and truly loving - I feel

- Bruce Lee - I think I had a great understanding of life

Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, Ani DeFranco - all 3 for the same reason - women with big strong beautiful voices who aren't afraid to speak their truth

I think that's all I can think of for now.

Dexter Morgan - For his codex and his personal struggle.
Torsten and Niels Kinsella (from God is An Astronaut) - for their amazing musical feeling.
Buffy - ofc, for being such a strong person, fighting not only the demons who plague the earth, but the demons inside of her.
Kick-Ass - for rising up and doing what needs to be done.
Chet Baker - For his amazing voice.
Jeffrey "The Dude" Lebowski - for his lifestyle.
Charlie Sheen - for being awesome.
Mahatma Gandhi - for his struggle and values.
Quentin Tarantino - for making amazing movies
The Coen Brothers - for making amazing movies
Brad Pitt - Not only is he a great actor, but he also seem to be a really great person!
A lot of fictional characters, but that doesn't mean you can't relate to them. There's probably more...

I don't really admire people around me, maybe that's why I seek for people to look up to in TV-Shows and whatnot.

My Mum: like oh my god I don't know how she does it, my dad cheating and left taking almost her whole money, one of her sisters has stop talking to her, she suffers with illness and lost her job, but she always puts us kids first. Yes she's had few times saying she will kill herself etc but she never did try, she has battled to make sure us kids will have a happy life and always helped us no matter what.

My best mate: she's my wife, daughter, sister, lover, soul mate etc we have been best friends since we were little she is a year younger then me but she acts like we are older, she knows how to make me laugh, she never makes fun of me, she sticks up for me whenever someone talks about me, she runs straight to my house whenever I upset and she buys me little gifts to make smile 🙂 she can be immature and mature and doesn't care what people say about her she has made me who I am today and I love her everyday for that, our boyfriends in the present/past and other friends all think one day we will get married haha!!

Hayley Williams She is an amazing singer and songwriter, her music is like she's writing about my life, whenever I listen to the band's songs I am always happy. She doesn't dress girly and dresses how she wants to be, I am like her I don't dress like others I dress rocky and she inspires me to be myself.

Buffy Summers Yes I have said it, watching her on TV has shown me, I am strong and can fight all my demons. That I will always have my friends by my side and have my back and that sometimes being single is the best way, that even if I am 20 now I still have a lot to learn and have my whole life ahead of me.

Joss Whedon He is so different to other writers that I was so scared of making scripts that it's not like the other movies and shows we have, but Joss has always gone outside the box and made something amazing and worth remembering and one day I hope I can write a script like him that will make everyone want to see more of my work.
