Who do you consider a scoobie?

Well, it kinda depends... As of today these are the people from the poll that I'd call official Scoobies: Alexander Harris, Cordelia Chase, Anyanka Jenkins, Daniel "Oz" Osbourne, Willow Rosenburg, Rupert Giles, Tara McClay, & Dawn Summers.
Cordelia isn't so much a Scoobie anymore since she's on Angel, but I still consider Oz a Scoobie because he isn't on another show; he just isn't there. Riley & Spike are sorta their own dealio, and Angel wasn't really a "part of the group" when he was on the show. Tara's dead, but she died being a Scoobie, so that makes her still one.
Cordelia isn't so much a Scoobie anymore since she's on Angel, but I still consider Oz a Scoobie because he isn't on another show; he just isn't there. Assuming this is an all-time Scooby gang, then I vote for everyone but Spike and Angel. Riley was a Scooby for the shortest amount of time (I'm saying he was only a Scooby for season 5, up until he left), Cordy and Oz were Scoobies by default, as Anya usually is these days. Of them, Cordy and Anya get honorable mentions for being Scoobies even when they weren't dating Xander. Oz was a Scooby only because of Willow.
Angel and Spike were never Scoobies. Both just did their own things, helping Buffy & Co. when their interests matched. When they did, they still weren't really in the hierarchy of command that the Scoobies generally fall into.
So there you have it, my take on the Scoobies in more detail than you needed. 😉

They are or were all scoobies, but where are Faith, Kennedy, Wesley, Wood and Andrew? and were is Buffy? If we can choose to leave Willow or Xander out, why can't we leave her out?
Now, Wes, Cordy and Angel aren't Scoobies anymore, neither are Riley, Oz and Tara, but they all once were ... Angel and Spike definatly were/are!

Tara McClay - Small yes. She has been around helping out with the research and all. I feel she was part of the Scoobie Gang, if only for a short while.
Riley Finn - No. He was part of the Initiative, only got involved with the others due to his relationship with Buffy.
Angel - Angel has always been an outside influence. He's never been part of the gang in the sitting in the library doing research way.
Alexander Harris - Definitely. No comment needed.
Cordelia Chase - No. Like Angel, she was an outsider to the Scoobie gang, she's never really been part of the team.
Anyanka Jenkins - Yes. She's fully integrated into the team up to a point where she is one of the Scoobies.
Daniel "Oz" Osbourne - Yes. Maybe it's due to his being a werewolf thing that he's gotten so involved, more than his relationship with Willow. I reckon Oz was part of the Scoobie Gang, even though he was not always there.
Willow Rosenburg - Yes. Like Xander, one of the original three Scoobies.
Rupert Giles - Yes. Although technically as a Watcher, he isn't part of the Scoobie gang, as isn't Buffy due to her Slayer-ness. But he is part of the troop, so I'll just throw him in there anyway.
William "Spike" The Bloody - No. He is much closer involved than Angel, but I don't reckon him really as one of the Scoobies. He's too uninvolved with the others for that.
Dawn Summers - No. She's Buffy's sister, and thus around a lot, but I don't reckon her as part of the Scoobies, she basically isn't in the gang by choice, but by necessity.

I was going to put an "other" option on the poll, but I forgot, stupid me.(why can't me edit polls anyway?) I just put up all the names of the people who were all at any time on cast. Also, I didn't think Buffy really needed to be put on the list, she's a given.
I agree that Wesley should be on the list, not Wood or Andrew, or Kennedy though. They're too new. If they prove to be great by the series finale, I might include them. Also I put Faith and Kendra on the honorary mentions list, along with Jenny Calendar and Joyce.

Though Kennedy is relativly new, I do consider her a Schoobie, aswell as Jenny, who I previously completly forgot to mention! Sorry!

My standards are pretty high for this. Basically it's just Willow, Xander, Tara, and Anya.
Obviously Willow and Xander are the core. End of discussion. I consider Tara a Scooby because she devoted everything to the cause. Even when she broke up with Willow, she still actively tended to the group. I'm assuming dying doesn't negate membership.
Anya is a Scooby as well. She's helped so much, including providing the central strategy in defeating Glory. She's always there, she's usually helping. She may act aloof and unattached, but all of her actions show otherwise. Basically, if her past contributions don't make her a scoob, then nothing she ever does will.
I don't think Giles is a scoob, because the term is a diminutive one, and Giles is above it all. He isn't on their level. In the Scooby cartoon, there was no Giles. He's something else, something more, or at least different.
Dawn is just there, usually a burden, but very recently she's become of Scoob caliber. I'll wait and see. She has to prove herself a little more because she would be there anyway, amid all the action, because she has nowhere else to go.
Angel and Spike are not Scoobs. They're something else, unless the term Scoob is stretched to levels I'm not familar with.
Oz is not a Scoob, but he was almost one. Basically he was just there for Willow. When things got tough, he bailed. He had a reason to leave, but he wasn't dedicated to the cause as much as the others. In his parting words, he never even mentioned his duties to the group, or anything of that nature. He's in the same boat as Anya, but I think Anya has proven that she cares about the welfare of Sunnydale in a capacity outside of her significant other. I mean, she's being hunted for her life, putting everyone in danger, and she's still in the group, still trying her best and helping people out (it was her advice that got the gang moving in "Get It Done" when Willow was unfocused on getting Buffy back).
As for the others, no way!
I would describe a Scoob as a member of the supporting group underneath Buffy, dedicated to the same cause as her, and who in general provide friendship and/or support. They actively safeguard the welfare of Sunnydale in a manner complimentary to Buffy's role as a Slayer.

I'd say everyone on the list is/was an official Scooby (at one point or another) except for Riley and Angel, because they both were always sort of into their own things and they didn't seem committed to the group as a whole... they were just there because of their connections with Buffy 🙂
i consider Buffy, Xander, Willow, and Giles to be the SENIOR scoobies, since they've been around the longest. then i consider the others who have helped them, or gotten some battle scars an honorary scooby: cordy, oz, riley, jenny, spike, faith, anya, tara, wes (back when he still called himself "wesly wyndam price"), joyce, and dawn
