Who do you think has been more important to the show? Joss Whedon or Sarah Michelle Gellar?

Whoa - that's a really interesting thing to think about.

I picked Joss because he's the one who conceived the ideas for the show. Sarah is his instrument in making a great show 🙂 I think she's one of the main reasons the show's popular though 🙂
 
I voted Joss aswell. As Sarah is indeed like an instrument, but maybe Joss could have gotten there with another instrument too!
 
I think Joss for the entire concpet, and complete story arcs, but then again, what would the show have been like with a different Buffy. I think ultimately the two feed from each other; the writer created the story, but on watching the performance by the actor, may form different opinons. Kind of like artist and muse I suppose 🙂
 
That in the end even you have to admit that it's Joss, and your post was a little vague about it!
 
Allycat; if you read my post, you will see I said Joss is the msot important for creating the original idea, but that I believe with different actors, the show would have probably been completely different, simply because the actors are the "face" or "front" for what Joss produces, and as such, things would have been completely different with a different cast.

This is not one upmanship Allycat and I would ask you not to points score with me.

I actually wonder how it would have looked with different actors, I guess you're right about the "it would have look entirly different" thing!
 
I'd say Joss. Maybe I'm just following the crowd, but I just looked at it this way... Sarah is in every episode of Buffy, even the worst ones. She doesn't make the show amazing everytime she's on screen. Then if you look at Joss, everybody looks forward to episodes that he writes and directs. It's the person behind the scenes that makes it great, not necessarily the person who shows it to us. That's why I see him as more important, but maybe that's not exactly what you were asking.

I thought the object of a poll was to gather a number of opinons, not to get the "right" answer. They're opinons, not school test answers. ???
 
I was actually just kidding! But whenever I agree with an opinion that opinion seems right to me!
