Depends, Right now Sarah is carrying the show and is more important to the show. But when the show started Joss was the key, if he hadent been there obviously there would be no show. But right now with Joss being a little detached from the show Im thinking Sarah.

Like i said it depends, at least for me, on what point in the show your talking about.

As a whole, if one of the two wouldn't have been there, with which one missing would you have never watched it?

I choose Joss because what if Sarah was'nt Buffy and she got the role she auditioned for Cordeilia!!! And what if Mercades Mcnab or Julie Benz got the role of Buffy.. the one they auditioned for... the show might not be where it is now.... Sarah is a huge female role model and i think thats why the show is also popular.. becasue she's the lead roll.......

I agree with Just A Thought. In the beginning, Joss was more important because he created the idea and brought it all together. He had to be there to mold the stories and characters into what it is today. Now, if Joss left and Sarah stayed, Btvs would still have the brilliant and experienced writers to carry on the idea that Joss began with. With Sarah leaving, Btvs can be no more as it is.

just to play devils advocate ,,if joss is the key part off buffy why then is the show not continuing (im not saying your wrong coz i think joss too but im trying to put a spin on it !) (as slayer007 siad above )

sarah

i think sarah because she is way more important. okay joss did come up with the story but he hardly ever writes any of hte episodes when i look in my dvd booklets joss writes about 5 episodes out of the 22 so sarah is way more important i don't think the show could fly well without her. take a look at firefly , not to say nothing bad about it but it was an ok show, joss was over that and it didn't fly.

I'm pretty torn on the issue.

The problem is that there are other excellent female actors out there who could have played the part of Buffy. The odds of having an actor as good as SMG for the part were probably low, but it is possible that Joss would have found another suitable Buffy. On the other hand, if not for Joss, SMG would more than likely have been successful in some other show - perhaps less successful, perhaps more. But that show wouldn't have been BtVS.

So without SMG, there is a possibility BtVS would have been as great. Without Joss, there would be no BtVS, but SMG might have made another show great. If we were asked to choose which of the two is more important to the TV industry in general, it'd be a much tougher choice, but I think we'd have to concede Joss's impoirtance to BtVS, seeing as how he created BtVS.

If there was no Joss, there would be no Buffy, which means no SMG, so Joss!

I think that Joss is most important, because he comes up w/ all the ideas for the show and there wouldn't really be a show without him. SMG is great and all but she doesn't really make the show, it could still survive with a different person playing buffy

absolutely joss...after all, he is the one who does the writing and the directing of the show's path behind the lens....and he's the genius behind the story arcs and such :: nods ::

in the beginning the most important person was Joss. But I think that these past few years the most important was Sarah so I voted for her
