Who do you think the Amulet was Intended For?

In Just Rewards , Angel and Wesley were discussing who had been intended to wear the Amulet. The senior partners knew what would happen to the bearer.
Become a ghostly entity linked to W&H.

Had the senior partners intended it to be worn by Angel? So he would finally cease trying to stop their evil plans?

But remember back to the final episode of Buffy. When Angel handed Buffy the file from the "hardly" reputable source, that he told her the wearer must be "someone souled. Stronger than human. A champion...but it's not me." To which Buffy replied "me neither".

So

Was it really intended for Spike? Do the senior partners have plans for our Blondie Bear?

OR

Was it really intended for, say, Willow.

Think about it a minute. She has a soul. Her wiccan energies make her stronger than human. And she's proven herself to be a champion time and time again. In her own ways.

She's been downright scary at times - powerful, menacing, dark. W&H could really use a powerful resource like that.

I suggested a theory on another thread.

I think Joss is borrowing plot details from the Dark Horse comic Battlegods: Warriors of the Chaak.

If this continues it will mean a battle of "CHAMPIONS" at the end of time.

I think W&H intended Angel to be their champion. Now with Angel in charge of Wolfram & Hart, and Spike bound to the amulet they have access to 2 champions.

Just a theory...
 
Amulet-Angel-Chosen-Spike

In Just Rewards, I got the impression that the Senior Partners wanted Angel to use the amulet and keep him, but in Chosen he says that he isn't the one to use it... any thoughts in this?
 
This topic will end up being an interesting spin on Angel...I can't wait...I hope they delve further into it...
 
I think you definately have something there Nerd4hire...but honestly a big part of me hopes you're wrong...I'd hate for it to go down like that...I'd like to think they'll both come out on top...
 
yeah, definetly, even though this season is supposed to be completely episodic, it's obvious there will be one or two two-partners that will bring importance to this, and the season main theme will surely connect the senior partners, the amulet, the buffy finale and spike and angel... i also can't wait
 
i think it was meant for spike cause wolfram and hart can probably see into the future si they wouldnt have made a mistake

😕 What? Since when could they see into the future?

I have two guesses. One is that it was intended for Angel. It does seem confusing because he tells Buffy, that he isn't the one to wear it...but why? He definitely is a souled champion. And I would imagine him being more of a champion than Spike. And who better to turn into a "ghost", than their arch-nemesis, Angel. That would definitely screw him over, causing W&H to take control of L.A., and have Angel right next to them, not able to do a thing about it.

Number two is that it was actually intended for Spike. When Lilah gave the amulet to Angel, she made reference to it being needed in Sunnydale. It seemed that she actually meant for it to be given to someone over in Sunnydale, not used by him, in Sunnydale. But as of now...we don't know what their use for Spike is. Perhaps they just wanted to have two vamps with souls, to deal with. We'll have to wait down the line.
 
When did he tell Buffy that he wasn't the one to wear it? I remember him trying to get her to let him where it and she kept refusing...
 
Yup, agree with Jacklyn.

Neat theory, maybe indeed Willow, but for that matter, could've been Faith aswell or one of the new slayers. Hell, maybe even Anya 😉 I think it was probably either Angel or Spike or someone we'll never expect.

And I'm fairly sure that Angel said he was not the one to wear the amulet. He knows he's a champion with a soul. They both disregarded himself and Buffy, as users of the amulet. I'll have to watch it again just to make sure.

I've only read bits and pieces, but apparently Battlegods: Warriors of the Chaak concerns a prophecy (it's either Mayan, or Aztec) in which two champions will fight a battle to decide who will become a God and marshall in the end of man's time on earth. Mexican wrestler types with mystical strength and powers aided by high-tech gizmos fight in a tournament to decide who the two champions will be to fight the final battle.

It's interesting, because it's a Dark Horse comic, which is the same company Joss Whedon writes for, and we've seen as a Mexican wrestler in Angel.

If Whedon were to borrow plot details from Battlegods (and it wouldn't be the first time he's borrowed stuff) it would be interesting because it would create a situation where Wolfram & Hart would have two champions to go into the tournament with. It would make sense that they gave the amulet to Angel, with the possibility Spike might take it.
 
In S3 W+H use prophets to find out stuff about the Nyassian Scrolls. They can't predict the future, but they can give a good estimation.
