Who else doesn't want Spike on Angel?

Okay, I used to reeeally like Spike, back in Buffy seasons 2-6. But in season 7 when he got his soul i got sooo bored of him... S7 became the Buffy and Spike show, willow, xander, dawn and anya were just forgotten while buffy told everyone that "spike can be a good person! he has a soooul now!". It was really annoying to see my favourite characters pushed to the back of the story, without any real storylines for themselves, unless you count Willow and Kennedy, or Xander's exciting window-fixing story.

So I really don't want Spike to come over onto Angel and screw it up like he did with season 7 of buffy. The way his soul was handled in S7 was really stupid and confusing, and putting Spike next to Angel, whos soul has been handled perfectly, will probably make spike look even crappier. Also, on Angel they just did the best season they've ever done, with a great cast that really found it's rhythm this year....now they're going to throw spike in the mix, and create really artificial stories (the whole spike-fred thing sounds awful). Everything's going to be about Spike, and Shirtless Spike, so the stupid little squealing teenage girls who loved buffy S6 and S7 because Shirtless Spike is "sooo hot" will keep watching. I know that Spike was forced onto Angel by Jordan (I hate you!) Levin, and I still hope that maybe somehow Joss will make it good....but he's never had harder stuff to work with.

And I want Cordy.

Complete disagreement.

Spike took up lots of time, but less then I had expected and not enough to say I really got bored of him. That he is shirtless has to do with his character change. Maybe you won't get this, don't worry, but the way someone is dressed, ressembles some of his character. Take BS3 Wesley for instance, by his looks only you could tell he was boo-(yawn)-oring. And offcourse Spike is hot!

Now for the other characters, they've had their time, everyone has seasons in which they get lots and season in which they get little story. I personally found the Willow/Kennedy storyline one that does count, and ok Xander had little to nothing, but then he's the zeppo, he doesn't need one. And Dawn may have had a minor one, but I agree, all were minor. That you blame Spike for this, I don't get. Most of the story was about Buffy and the First, Spike may have had a bigger role in the season then others.

Cordy however, was a nice character on Angel, however I got really sick and tired of her last season. She was really in a pain in the show's figurative ass. That the show has found it's balance, well, I don't know about that, besides Joss was going to change the whole set-up anyway, and the cast, as does the show, always has to evolve or otherwise it'll get boring. The same old song every week, we wouldn't want that. I don't think this Jordan Levin (never heared of him) had too much influence on Spike's transfer as Joss was totally wild about it. And about the Spike/Fred thing, doesn't sound artificial, we tried it in an RPG once, it went very smooth, like they were made for each other.

Jordan Levin did have a huge influence over Spike's transfer onto Angel. He is the president of the WB, and one of his terms of Angel's renewal was that Spike was brought onto the show, to bring in more ratings. He doesn't care about the show's artistic direction or anything - it wasn't Joss's choice to bring Spike onto Angel, but he's trying to do the best he can. I have faith that Joss will make it good, but I still would have preferred him being allowed to tell his own story.

I don't really mind who wanted Spike on Angel, but I am sooooo looking forward to him coming back. It's bad enough Buffy ended, but having Spike is a "bloddy good solution" ( as Spike would say).

Go Spike -

Joss did want him to come over. I don't think him coming into the mix has anything to do with no shirt and screaming teenage girls. In case anyone missed it Spike is actually a very well developed character and James is a good actor. Angel was starting to go down hill. Not nesessarily my oppinion but they DID almost cancel it. They need to mix things up. The characters are all going to change wether Spike is there or not. If not him then someone else. I for one think people should just give it a shot and see what they do cause it might be good. Have a little faith. Or, don't watch if it bugs you so much.

I cant wait for Spike to be on Angel. I dont like Cordy...and the friction between Spike and Angel will be kewl..

I do agree that Spike's character went downhill in S7. I do want him on Angel, but I hope that he will not be the central character. It's called Angel, not Spike.

One person who does'nt want Spike on Angel is David Boreanaz. When he mentioned it at the David Boreanaz European Event, he seemed very annoyed about the whole thing, though he did try and be very diplomatic about it, saying the relationship between the 2 could be 'interesting'.

I'de like to see proof of Joss not wanting Spike on Angel. I believe he decided to bring him over because he had a lot more ideas for storyline. As he said with Cordy, he was done with her story. Maybe theres more to that, who knows. But the fact of that matter is that he didnt decide to bring Spike over to Angel so he could get screaming teenagers in an uproar. His character being on Angel will definitely open up some good story opportunity.

Josh,
You seem to have a lot of pent-up aggression toward Spike's (plus soul) character--yet profess total love for Angel...Do you have hatred for Angelus, too (since he doesn't have that pesky soul) or is it really just homo-erotic banter about certain actors?
Spike's character has always "thrown a spanner in the works"--soulful or soul-less---it's always better w/ Spike in the mix...

DB's proably worried that JM will probably steal the show as hes very popular..but Db dunt have to worry Angel's last for 4years now without Spike...it'll bring more Buffy fans in...

I think it is great that Spike is going to be on Angel because after buffy finshed it's all gone, all the charecters, willow, buffy, giles, faith all of there background that we found out about is gone but with Spike there the charecters can make a apperence on Angel more often 😛 Also spin-off's I rekon do not do that very good, except for the charecters that has been von the original show, and so we still have angel, wesely, and cordy in season 4 but then now she is (I think) leaving so the rating must go down and they need somemore charecters with a lot of background that we know of to take over!!

I have mixed feelings over this!

I am pissed off over the fact that Spike took over the core Scoobies during S7. It was about Spike alot, which peeved me off. And to top it off he appears on 7.1 boxset & 7.2. No Dawn, Xander & Anya, dont they exist!

I think it is cool that Spike is going on over to Angel, but I just hope he doesnt take it over!

Once again, I'm teaming up with the masses, but think of all the drama that Angel and Spike will generate! I agree with Josh that Spike in S7 was boring. He was all "OH no! Ihave a soul... but she still doesn't love me..." and so on so forth. Joss Whedon won't have his attention split cuz he's not handling two shows anymore so I trust that Spike on ANGEL will be interesting. I miss Cordy and her "tell it like it is" personality, but chances are that she'll be back.
