I mean in the romantic sense. Buffy and Angel obviously had that true love thing going (and perfect happiness for Angel), but the Angel/Cordelia one was a little more complicated, it never really happened or took off, but there was something very moving in that final scene she had with Angel in season 5 'You're Welcome'.

What do you think?

Buffy: No Question

Sorry to all those Angel/Cordelia fans, but Buffy wins hands down. Angel and Buffy are soul mates. She is the love of his life. Cordelia and Angel were not believeable as a couple. The REAL Cordy NEVER would've fallen in love with Angel. And doesn't anyone remember when Cordy tried to flirt with Angel on Buffy? He wouldn't give her the time of day. During the first two seasons of Angel, these two were more like brother and sister than lovers. Yes, the characters did change through the seasons. Cordy grew up and became a loving person and Angel allowed himself to seek help from those around him. However, despite whatever changes these two went through, I still don't believe that they would've ever fallen in love. Disagree with me if you want, but that's how I feel. As far as Buffy and Angel go, it was obvious in The Girl in Question and Chosen that Angel was still very much in love with Buffy and was hoping for a future with her. Would he have wanted that if he was so in love with Cordelia? I think not.

I agree with you, something didn't fit with Angel and Cordy getting together

Woot! You are absolutely my new favorite person today!
I voted for Cordy and Angel purely because their relationship grew to be love Buffy well seeing certain eppy's in Angel season five proved she couldn't care less about him, Cordy did, so even though they had that first love they grew to be different people they are comming from different directions, as you saw in season one of Angel. The fact he went after Buffy was to get in her good books agian and he did get to lay the ghost of their love to rest at the end.
He moved on.

The Angel /Cordy relationship felt like a more adult relationship to me. More real.

If Angel had never appeared in Buffy's finale or the events of TGIQ happened, i'd totally be going for Cordelia.
Their relationship was far more adult. It was based on Friendship, Love, loyalty, honesty and trust which does mean a lasting relationship.
There was a definite attraction in the very beginning for Cordy, and it would be an absolute lie if Angel said he'd not thought Cordy was attractive so the argument
'And doesn't anyone remember when Cordy tried to flirt with Angel on Buffy? He wouldn't give her the time of day'
doesn't hold water. He was in love with Buffy. Doesn't mean he didn't appreciate Cordy aesthetically.
Also this comment was totally wrong

I'm sorry, but WTFunk. REAL Cordy?
Which Cordy wasn't real?
The One from Buffy? Watch Out of Sight, Out of Mind. This, for me, is the closest we come to see the 'Real' Cordelia on Buffy. That vain, vacuous bint that you seem to be implying as the 'real' Cordy is nothing more than a self defence mechanism.
When Cordelia grows up to the woman she was destined to be, she truly becomes someone who could love Angel.

The thing I hate about this relationship is what the writers did.
First off, hours after the events of Home, we are led to believe Angel is with Buffy with that whole Cookie Dough speech.
Then weeks after Cordelia dies, not only is Angel getting it on with a Werewolf he is also travelling across the globe over some petty jealous thing after Buffy again.

Because of these, i'd have to say his feelings for her weren't genuine, but honestly, i think they were, its just the writers didn't know how to work Buffy and Angel into the smae episodes without it being about their relationship. It totally pisses all over the sacrifice and memory of Cordy.

So, i'd have to say Buffy and Angel in the context of your question.

It's my opinion that, by the time of the crossover finale of the two series (Season 7 of Buffy - Season 4 of Angel) their storylines weren't meshing all that well. I saw a note on this episode on the tv.com site which said that there was an idea for "Chosen" where Angel tells Buffy about his love for Cordelia and about his son Connor, but it was abandoned because it brought too much of the Angel story onto Buffy.

That's why i HATED the Girl in Question you'd have to be retarded to go after a girl who Bitchilly said (not to his face) that she didn't trust him!
That was a Character betrayal not just Pissing all over her sacrifice and memory. That's why i prefer Cangel.

I'd say the Angel/Cordy relationship had the foundation to become a real relationship (maybe even one that rivaled the likes of Bangel), because it was based on their friendship, loyalty, trust, blah blah blah. But I agree with DDLM, the writer's didn't handle it too well. Whereas, with the Angel/Buffy romance, everything was pretty much perfect with the way it played out.

So, I'd have to say Buffy/Angel was the "better relationship".

Cordy/Angel. I can't stand Buffy/Angel, it never seemed natural to me, although I did think they were nice for a short relationship. I just never saw them working well as a long term relationship, plus it came together really quickly. I liked how the Cordy and Angel relationship grew over time, plus it seemed more genuine to me, and I think they had much more chemistry.

I mean in the romantic sense.

In a romantic sense the answer is obviously Buffy. Angel and Cordy had what? two kisses? Making your question stupid, in the context of romance.

Romance aside, Cordy and Angel had a much closer relationship than Buffy/Angel. Buffy couldn't even trust Angel. Shoddy foundation = tomb-go-boom.
What do you think?

I think I'm not here, this isn't happening.

I'm sorry, I guess I was under the delusion romance involved intimate contact. What the hell was I thinking?!

*sigh*

Just because Angel and Buffy screwed each other and made out a lot does not mean their relationship was any more meaningful than the relationship between Angel and Cordelia.

Angel and Cordy's relationship grew over time, going from casual allies to friends to something more than friends. They obviously loved each other very much and had very strong feelings for each other, and their chemistry was better as well (IMO, anyway). And in the 100th episode where they kiss, there's probably just as much - or more, in that kiss than there was ever between Angel and Buffy.

I don't know why you think that a romantic relationship must involve lots of pyshical contact but I disagree with that theory. It's all in how much true love two people have for each other inside rather than lust.

When you write "IMO" you just make yourself out to be an asshole. It's your post, you wrote it, obviously it is your opinion.

Cordelia didn't even realize that she was in love with Angel until the last episode of season 3, and in season 4 she wasn't herself. Just because it's there, doesn't mean she knew it, or could show it.

Just because you feel it, doesn't mean it's there.

Wow and you say *I* sound like an asshole, huh? Interesting...

Do you have some issues you need to work out or something? I don't believe I ever did anything TO you yet over the last couple of days you've repeatedly been negative towards me and it's getting old.

I have no idea what you're talking about. You sound a little paranoid, seriously.

I only take issue with idiots. Oooh, is there some relevance here??

So, what exactly makes me an idiot? And what makes you NOT an idiot, seeing as how you keep trying to provoke a fight?

And paranoid, huh? Well maybe you're just a sarcastic jerk all of the time and maybe it's nothing personal, but whatever. If you have some problem with me just ignore my posts, please.
