who is angel's love?

I too will never quite understand why some people have the need to rewrite events of the show.

maybe its cause they like to see what they want to have happened, cause they like it better if it was the way they want. for instance, my friend thought these two people on tv were true loves, and swears that when they first met, there was an obvious attraction, and he looked at her like she was a goddess and was awed. i swear THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IN THE BEGINNING!!!!! he is completely imagining it as what he wants to see, but there was clearly no "obvious" attraction till later! i looked at him so hard, and then less hard; IT IS NOT THERE!!! he just thought they were so in love, that them liking each other from the moment they saw each other would be so much more romantic, and thus he saw what he wanted.

Anyways, I still love Cordy and Angel together tho, they really look great as a couple.

I would have really liked to see them explore the whole Angel/Cordy relationship a lot further than they did. It felt like they had just sort of touched the surface of their relationship and then she was gone. It was really disappointing.

I agree
ANGEL
I'm getting the brush-off for Captain Peroxide. It doesn't
necessarily bring out the champion in me.
BUFFY
You're not getting the brush-off. Are you just going to
come here and go all Dawson on me every time I have a
boyfriend?

ANGEL
Any thoughts on who might enjoy"¦ do I have to go with
the cookie analogy?

BUFFY
I do"¦ sometimes think that far ahead.
ANGEL
Sometimes is something.
BUFFY
It'll be a long time coming. Years, if ever.
ANGEL

I ain't getting any older"¦

Ok there are a few lines from Chosen, and as we know by this episode in Buffy Cordy and Angel had already bonded, and he still wants to know he has a future with Buffy...because he loves her, she's the one!

postmortem
Are you a Bangel or a Cangel, I am confused.
I really like Angel with both Cordy and Buffy. I think that he will always love Buffy more than anyone, but since they wont be together (for a long time as Buffy puts it in season 7) he had to move on, and I think Cordelia and him would have been the perfect couple, as they both loved each other very much, just not the way that Angel and Buffy do.
That is my personal stance!!! 🙂 🙂

But I am a Bangel

Definitely Buffy. It was always Buffy for Angel and Angel for Buffy.

Even after he left (which he did out of love for her) he continued to run back to her ANYTIME he thought she needed him. He was there for her whenever she was in danger, when her mom died, etc. and even at the very end of the show they were MAKING OUT and he asked her if she ever thinks about them in the future. It's so obvious to me!! If he didn't still love Buffy then there would be no reason for him to ask her that. Not to mention that when he was dreaming of having sex in that one episode he actually said Buffy's name. This one is a no brainer to me.

It's totally Buffy for Angel.

I couldn't have said it any better!!

I'm a total bangel!!

Buffy. What Buffy and Angel had would never die. Angel loved Buffy enough to realize Buffy deserved better but yet he still kept watch over her. Even in LA he still came to the rescue when he thought Buffy really needed it. That is true love.

hmm Angels true love... well of course thats Buffy.. with Cordelia running up.. Angel loves Buffy.. and continues to love her.. as you said Slayergal he comes to Sunnydale to check up on Buffy throughout the 7 seasons and when he was in LA... and he would always get jelous when Buffy had a boyfriend.. such as Riley... and then Spike... but overall i think the best girl for angel was buffy.. though i think spike and buffy are the ones now :silly: there is no more bangel... its now spuffy 😀

A lot of you keep saying that Angel kept coming back to help Buffy and that shows that he was in love with her. While he may have still been in love with her when he was in LA, him going back to help her when she needed it has nothing to do with that. They were both warriors for the side of good and they were friends, so they weren't going to abandon each other. Shoot, if I knew my ex was in trouble and I knew I could help her out of it, I would. That doesn't necessarily mean I'm still in love with her.

(As I'm writing this, I'm the only visitor here, so I'll sneak this in quick and run before someone stakes me) Ihave always felt that Angel was more in love with himself than anyone else. He always puts his own ideas ahead of everyone else's, from Buffy to all of his friends, and even his son. He constantly makes decisions "for their own good," that wind up about as well as Willow's spells do. He leaves Buffy "for her own good," because they can never be together, cursed monster that he is. Then, when they CAN be together, uncursed de-vamped human that he becomes, he renounces his newfound humanity so that he could continue to "fight the good fight," even though as a human he could offer Buffy the very thing he claimed to want for her: a normal life. (That brings up the question of just why he finds the promise of a shanshu prophecy so attractive later, but that's a discussion best saved for another time). All of his "for your own good" interferance culminates eventualy in "Not Fade Away" when it costs the lives of at least two of his oldest friends. Face it, Angel is a self centered egotistical clod who puts his own poorly thought out priorities ahead of anyone else's, regardless of the consequences. He MUST love himself the most, because he sure as hell doesn't love anyone else.

Hey that was unnecessary, ok Angel has been a git in the past but please relay the those things he has been guilty of rather than preconcieved biased ideas that have no bases.Fred's death was partly Gunns fault not Angel's.
Angel got his humanity back then got rid of it because he'd feel guilty for not being able to help the people he's ment to as effectivley. The Powers told him he was out the fight as he was human. It wasn't all to do with Buffy.
Angel gave up his son because there seemed no other way to help him.Or Himself, the partners more or less implyed, that to help Conner and the innocents inc Cordy he had to sighn over to W&H as he had no other way of getting there in time. I.E emotional blackmail like in "Billy".In NFA he had a vision of the Black Thorn, but not of what they looked like, he lead everyone to believe he was evil so he could see what they look like, then took his plan as an opportunity to get revenge for Fred's death, to make her death matter
He is always sacrificing his happiness for the greater good, even if it does mean not consulting his friends, as tongue in cheek, did he need his friends permission to sign away the Shanshu..?lol
I think he loved Cordy in a way that he could never love Buffy their love was based on understanding, friendship etc Buffy didn't understand him teh way Cordy did so it has to be Cordy in my book hee hee.

ok white avenger... i can forgive your post just because you're a spike's fan. usually the spike fans doesn't like angel at all or the relationship that he had with buffy. im sorry but their love was so special..not like what buffy and spike had.. and this thread is for you to tell who is the love of angel's life.. not to give your opinion about angel's character.. i'm sure that there is another thread for that.. and i think that the angel's fans should say something about this.

To All Here...Please excuse my outburst of last evening. Some personal matters intruded upon my attitude, and I was a little pissed off at the world. I had no right to vent my spleen here, and I promise to not let my personal life intrude here again. As to my calm, sane answer to the question, I truly believe that the "love of Angel's life" would have to be Cordelia. Buffy was his salvation, dragging him out of a place no one should have to be, but his relationship with Cordelia was something that grew and matured over the length of the series. Again, please forgive my childish behavior.

There's nothing wrong with your earlier post :)
To All Here...Please excuse my outburst of last evening.

There was nothing wrong with it, I'd say a lot of what you said about Angel is based in truth. Angel really doesn't value the opinions of others, he rarely asks for the advice of others when he makes a decision. Perhaps that has to do with his age, but its a fault prevalent with Angel.

If you analyse most of the big decisions Angel makes, he makes them without seeking the counsel of others. Is it because he's arrogant? Selfish?

I'm sure Angel fans will argue the case that he doesn't want to intrude on others, instead wishing only to carry the burden alone... Noble? Ok, but it is still a flaw. Sometimes his myopic vision doesn't allow him to see the full scope of the situation, where another voice might extend his understanding.

White Avenger, i've not agreed with many of your posts and some parts of your spleen 'venting' I don't necessarily agree with either but on the whole its a pretty accurate assessment.

HOWEVER...i don't agree with all of it.

Firstly, I would pick at your 'bashing' him because he left Sunnydale for Buffy's good as a selfish act.
Gotta say that one was part sefish but part reality.
Selfish in that he couldn't handle that he'd not be able to be with Buffy.
But on the other hand, he really couldn't stay. By staying he would have stifled Buffy's growth as a woman. She'd never really be able to get passed him if he was still hanging around, which shows in the epsiodes she turns up in LA.

Secondly. In 'I Will Remember You', which happens to be an episode that bores the crap out of me to be honest(I really don't understand all the people who mark this as such a magnificent episode....its blah to me), he is basically told that as he is no longer in the fight, Buffy will die.
I understand his decision, but honestly, I think its a crock.
Buffy doesn't need a defender and the insinuation that she does really pisses me off.

See, to me, this is one of the reasons Angel gets so angry at Wesley with the 'Father will Kill the Annoying bout of Diaper Rash' because on some level he is aware that in the same situation, he would do the same thing, he would take matters into his own hands.

I would argue that his final act of 'doing whats best' by taking on the Black Thorn is is slightly misplaced but in this one instance he is doing the right thing for the right reasons with the right outcome.

Ah. Diaper rash was the original prophecy, I always wondered what it had been changed from..:P
Hey, I know plenty of guys that think Angel is 'bashable' and I know plenty of women that wouildn't mind him giving them a 'bash'.

He is, however, a flawed Hero. I think that he is like he is because up to meeting Buffy he had been a loner. So he was set like that mentally. And he was like that because his 'gang' mentality born from Darla, Dru and Spike was quite devastating both to himself and the world.

He is a lone hero forced to work with others....I think by the end of season 5 Angel though, he truly accepts that he is a Team Leader that is why he is adamant that the crew have a day to themselves. He knows they will die, it is their 'Destiny' if you will, so he gives them a gift, a last day.

Angel of old would probably have been eager to spend the day making sure that his minions were ready, this new Angel was making sure his friends had a 'obit'.

I just found this quote from 'The Girl In Question' and I thought it backed up the whole Angel loves Buffy thing 😉

ANGEL: Hey, ours is a forever love.

Don't you understand that comment is the writers mocking the bangel fans who go ON AND ON about "forever love"?

Any ninny can see that, or do you not understand the whole point of "girl in Question"?

Harsh much!! I don't appreciate being spoke to like that. I'm stating my opinion. I'm a bangel fan, and I choose not to see the whole episode as a skit. Yeah, it was a funny play on the whole Buffy/Spike/Angel relationship. I know it wasn't a serious episode, but I like that he said it.

If you don't agree with me fine, but don't belittle me. Its rude!!
