Who is the best Buffy couple?

it would be a tie between Willow/Tara and Xander/Anya. Although if we were going for best COMEDY DUO, I'd actually say Anya/Andrew. Not as a couple, obviously, but the way those two actors riffed off of each other was heaps 'o fun!

Xander and Anya really had me rooting for them. They really had me rooting for them. They seemed like the real deal to me. I could relate to their love story. I was upset when they ended. I even found myself rooting for them to get back together in season seven... and I totally hate it when chicks get left at the altar. It's such a Sonny thing to do! (GH fans will get that one). Xander and Anya had it all. They were sweet and romantic, funny, sometimes tragic, and, really, everything in between.
Willow and Tara had me rooting for them, too. It was just impossible for me to refrain from smiling. They were beautiful. They just sort of made everything on Buffy better and brighter. I once made my sister watch Entropy with me. You know how that episode is: it's all downhill. It's a good episode, but it's quite a downer. Then, at the end, you have that wonderful "Can you just be kissing me now?" moment... and it makes everything better. It makes everything okay again. I was grinning from ear to ear. My sister, who is new to Buffy and rather homophobic was like, "ewww." I was like, "No! It's wonderful. They're the cutest!"
I always kind of found myself feeling more invested in the minor characters' love stories than in Buffy's love stories. I don't know why. I liked Buffy/Angel all right and I loved Angelus, but the whole thing came with an eye roll for me. Forbidden love. Oooh. It was all a little too melodramatic for me. Buffy/Riley, I liked, but it felt kind of dull and flat (which was sort of the point, but still). Buffy and Spike, I liked more than the other two, but it also came with an eye roll. Ooooh. Trying to sex up the show for ratings. Buffy's relationships always felt sort of forced and contrived. Willow's relationships and Xander's relationships, though, always felt more natural and realistic. Everything with Buffy was always so epic, you know? The others got to be a little more human and down-to-earth about things.
All of that said, if you're going to go over-the-top, go all out, because Dru and Spike get my vote for my favorite couple on Buffy. I love them to pieces. They're so screwed up, yet so perfect. It's wrong. It probably makes me an icky human being. But I don't care. In their own evil, royally screwed up way, they were beautiful together. There was something eerie and explosive and just insanely perfect about those two. I can't put my finger on it, but I loved every single Spike/Dru scene, especially when Angelus was involved, too.

Depends on what you mean by best. Do you mean most interesting, most romantic, the relationship that is the healthiest, favorite, or the one you can best see yourself in?
Well...I'll answer some of them:
For most interesting I think Buffy and Spike. Not in a dirty interesting way, but in the way Spike's love of Buffy grew and developed and in how it really showed what love can motivate people to do. I feel like Spike's side of the relationship really showed the power love has over people and its gravity. Despite the fact that Buffy treated Spike terribly throughout Season 6, I think that it was still a very interesting adult relationship with different depths made all the more interesting and upsetting by the disparity between Buffy and Spike' levels of affection for one another.
For the healthiest relationship, probably Willow/Tara. To quote Amber Benson, "they really loved each other and treated each other with compassion and respect." Willow and Tara had what is, arguably, the sanest and least self destructive relationship on Buffy.
Most romantic is tough....um...in an obvious way, Angel/Buffy because "they have the forbidden love of all time. However, in actuality I think Buffy/Spike because of Spike's pain and his relentless love for Buffy. I mean, he got a soul for her. As a soulless vampire he was willing to endure trials in order to aquire something that would then be a burden, just so Buffy could love him...enough said.

Angel and Cordelia. I just felt like the two of them were so right for each other. And their love was based on their profound friendship. I think I've already written this on BB like 10 times at least, lol. Well, it's a pity we didn't see more of Cangel, or maybe I should be thankful for that, Joss has this way of ending all relationships in a not so pleasant way...

Without even a hint of doubt, Tara and Willow. In my opinion, they're the best TV couple ever, no contest.
But, if Willow and Tara were out of the picture, I'd say Xander/Anya. They were so cute and funny together, and did anyone else want to slap him when he left her at the altar? Of course you did. They're closely followed by Joyce/Giles (I think of them every time I hear Tales of Brave Ulysses...and I LOVE that song!).
If Angel couples are included, I also have to express my love for Wesley/Fred. I LOVED them together, and I cry whenever someone even mentions their scenes together in A Hole In the World...in fact, I choked up when I saw A Little Princess in the bookstore the other day! Oh, and I also loved Angel/Cordelia. I can't understand why everyone hates them so much! Even though Angel was my favorite Buffy boyfriend, too, I like him much more with Cordelia.

Behind them, after a considerable gap, I'd say Spike and Dru. 180° on the opposite of the "sane and healthy" than Tillow, but every single scene that had them in was just great to watch.

Oh, my God...I forgot one of my favorites! Spike and Angel! Seriously, they were canon! They had to be! And if they weren't, that was a missed opportunity.

^ Yeah, man. Spike and Dru were the ultimate in dysfunctional relationships. They were so dysfunctional that they were functional. It was eerie. The writing and acting for those two was always brilliant, but I also think the concept is freakishly perfect. They were raw emotion and desire, Dru and Spike. As vampires, they were free from most human constraints. They could roam about the earth just doing and taking whatever they wanted whenever they wanted. What made that touching and beautiful was that what they wanted most of all was one another. I think that's what I love about them. Even when Angel has her in his grip, Dru's always reaching out to Spike. Likewise, even when he's got Buffy chained to his wall, he's got Dru tied up right next to her. I really hate that they broke up. I really want them to get back together. It just doesn't seem right that such love can just end like that. Not right at all.
Maybe Dru should torture Spike until he loves her again.
Stupid Spike - leavin' my poor, crazy Dru. Stupid Angel. Stupid Slayer! Both of Dru's boys abandoned her for Buffy. Dru should take some revenge, one of these days. I actually once read a good fanfic in which Dru waited until Buffy had a grown son, then, for revenge, Dru took him and turned him into another Spike. She was the scariest villain ever -- at least in part because I kind of sympathized with her. I mean, Buffy took Dru's vamp son (and her vamp dad). It seemed only fair. She should have taken Giles, too. Then, they'd be even.

I'll agree. They were implied canon, at least. There's a history there. I don't think they were in love, but I do love their love/hate familial relationship and their banter. Angel and Spike banter is the best!

Of the relationships actually portrayed on the show, Buffy and Spike were definitely the most passionate. Willow and Tara were the most romantic. Buffy and Angel were the most tragic. Spike and Anya were the greatest one night stand. Giles and Jenny were the greatest unfulfilled.

Anyway, conventional couples that we saw on the show:
Buffy/Angel: I know, I know, big surprise! Really this was the first couple that I fell in love with and I still have to hold them in my number one spot. They're the reason I fell in love with the show and I hope that somehow Joss brings 'em together 🙂
Willow/Tara: Although I liked she and Oz as well, I really liked Tara's character. She was strong but not too "mean", very balanced, and I think they had a very healthy relationship while it lasted (and I respect that when it went downhill, Tara had the nerve to walk out until they could work things out).
Xander/Anya: They were very cute and such an odd couple that I think they really worked. They had a great thing doing, wish Anya didn't die so that they could live happily ever after 🙂
Unconventional Couples (that we didn't see on the show but I really really wish we did!):
Faith/Spike: Need I say more? Their characters just seem very intertwinable somehow.

I think the Willow/Tara relationship, to me, was absolutely beautifully crafted. It was so nice to see a couple really work together and love each other. And then of course I loved Spike/Buffy for the opposite reasons. Despite having some tender moments together, their love affair was really quite crude.

I even love Giles/Jenny despite being a total Joyles Purist.
There is one relationship in the Buffyverse that I completely and utterly hated and I'm sure many would agree:

Yeah. Olivia did seem to have been sort of selected at random. I think the problem is that she didn't have any backstory whatsoever. We knew she was British and hadn't believed that Giles was serious when he told her about monsters and demons and stuff. That was it.
To be fair, I think that was kind of the point. Giles was drifting around trying to find his purpose and his personality outside of watcherdom that season. I think that's why he bought the sports car, got back into touch with his musical side, and just generally did a lot of non-Tweedy-Giles sorts of things. I think he was trying to find Rupert, not Giles or Ripper, and that Olivia, being just a random and (most importantly) normal woman from back home, was part of that. I think he liked her because she didn't fit into his crazy, demon-filled life. In the end, I think he decided that Rupert was as long gone as Ripper, so he settled back into the role of Giles and opened the magic shop. It didn't work with Olivia precisely because she was too normal. She couldn't handle monsters and stuff. She didn't fit -- and Giles couldn't leave that life behind. It was part of him. So my theory is that he chose Giles' complicated (and sadly celibate) life in Sunny-D over Rupert and his nice, normal relationship with nice, normal Olivia.
