Who is the best match for Angel?

I'll throw in my two cents too. 🙂 For me, it became Cordy when I saw their relationship develop throughout AtS. Funny thing though, I remember when I first watched BtVS (before knowing anything about AtS), specifically "Halloween." The scene when Cordy comes over to Angel, who is waiting for Buffy, and then we see him smile and laugh along with Cordy...my initial reaction was, "Awww, I've never seen Angel smile and laugh like that before. Buffy's got competition." Lol 😉

I used to be a total Bangel. But as I've gotten older and rewatched both series over and over again, I've changed my mind to be a Cangel now. The way Angela and Cordy's relationship evolved from friendship into romance was so natural and beautiful. With Buffy and Angel, I see it now more as infatuation than love.

Probably Cordy: She keeps him sane (literally! "Birthday", anyone?), makes him smile, and really brings out the humanity in him. She also won't take his crap. 😉

Yet I voted for Darla. 😛 I think that they were soulmates, in a way. Everything always seemed to come back to her. She was the reason for his very existence, and got to him in a way that no one else could. He obviously cared for her, seeing as he was willing to die for her. I think that she can understand his darker side better than anyone, and maybe even HIM better than anyone. They're just a really good match.

After much deliberation, I voted for Cordelia...but honestly, I don't think I would want them together now, although I did then.

Angel belongs alone. Only then can he really reflect on his path, and how far he has strayed from it. Besides that's how the story always goes, the hero ends up alone.[/SIZE]

If we're talking Angel, I vote Cordelia.

But if we're talking Angelus, I vote Darla as well. In a lot of ways they were perfect for each other. I know Angel said he never loved her, but I think with time he could have, and maybe even in the end he did.

It's not like I don't like the idea of Cangel, or their interaction/chemistry, I do. I love their friendship, I think it's one of the best ones in the Buffyverse. But I felt like the plot/writing made the romance seemed forced. I mean, literally, Lorne & Fred were forcing them into it. It would've been better (to me) if they would've come to the realization on their own. And then it was so stupid that everything was in the way: Groo, Connor coming back, both of their abductions, etc.

I do like Dangel. I'm not sure if it was true love, but man it was powerful.

But it did need to be pointed out to them. It's like neither one of them noticed it until other people talked them into it.

When Fred pointed out the idea of Kyrumption (since she saw Angel and Cordy train together and recognized them as champions), Angel did think she was talking silly, but then his reaction after Wesley asked who gave him the flowers was so cute. "Nobody." 🙂 Then, when he starts to look at Cordy differently to see if maybe he does have feelings...it just worked for me, lol. I like the idea that one day, you start to look at your best friend differently and see more, even if you got a little push into that direction by someone who already noticed a connection. 🙂

This. Every thing about this, I couldn't have said it any better myself. Plus, how adorable was Fred with the whole Kyrumption thing and not to bring in another ship in itself, but I thought it to be cute the way Wesley sorta chastised Angel for yelling at Fred. 😉

I voted for Buffy. She gave him his reason for ''fighting the good fight''. She gave him forgiveness when he didnt think he deserved it and she gave him love as well. Plus they make a cute couple 🙂

So great it feels to see all the Cangel love. For a long time our numbers felt very small.

So yes, Cordelia is definitely my choice. Considering what others have said I don't have to say anything. Just go back and read some earlier posts if you have to.

Buffy was good for Angel in the beginning, gettting him out of gutter. Darla and Angelus go together even if human Darla and Angel could have been good. Faith and Angel is a very interesting idea but can't say that they belong together when we haven't seen it happen. Nina? To me we just haven't seen enough of them and so far she's nowhere near to beat Cordelia in my eyes. That doesn't mean that Nina was bad for him.
