Who is the finest?

I just remembered that in Doppleganger, when everybody thought that Willow was dead, Giles said "She was trully the finest of us all".

I first agreed but then, everybody changed so much, that in the end, I'd say Tara was the finest...

I wondered...For you, who was the finest in the end and why?

That is a hard one because I love all of these characters so much. Out of all the deaths I truly think that Anya might have been the finest. I say this because she grew so much over the years and actually went into that final battle instead of running and ultimately saved Andrew. She came full circle. My opinion could change when re-watching again but as of now I say Anya.

I agree about Tara though she was such a good character.

Yes, for me it was either Tara or Anya!
Tara never did anything really bad, the only time she really slipped was the time she cast a spell so the scoobies couldn't see demons.

But in a way, the fact that Anya comes from 1000 years of evilness, when we say how human she became and how she grew up to be a better person, she's also very very fine...Maybe more than Tara because Tara was always fine, Anya wasn't, she could have stayed the way she was but she didn't, so I guess we can say she was the finest.

I'd say Tara and Anya were the both the finest! :cool2:

I can't tell. Everyone are fine.. but finnest.. everybody had their ups and downs, so I can't really tell..

I'm going with Tara. At times, she's somewhat similar to early Willow.

She knew the way Willow was behaving in season six was wrong. She gave Willow several chances to take a break from the magic but Willow still broke her trust. She left and ended the relationship, but still worried and cared about Willow afterwards. She obviously had had a rough childhood but emerged from it with good morals and eventually became her own woman.

Well to me it's a tie between Tara and Anya. They were the only two that had the best positive character development. I mean, Tara slowly started losing her stutter, felt more comfortable with the scoobies and she just felt comfortable being who she was in the end. And I'm going to agree here with ApesFindShapes that she is really like an early Willow, and how fast she grew with all that happened to her and was able to use her life's disaster and turn it upside down with her relationship with Willow.

Anya is pretty much the same. She had one of the best positive character developements in the series. She went from a demon who wanted to make all men feel like insects to a very loving human. I absolutely loved her in The Body, just how she is trying to feel the same thing as the rest of the scoobies and seeking understanding. She died defending the people she loved. 🙂

I think Tara she was the gentlest, most kind-hearted character in the series. Her death is so sad and shes whats missing in season 7. Imo she was definitely the finest.

Yeah, Tara's a good choice. She's certainly unimpeachable. If we include Angel, Fred's a good nomination too. As is Lorne, one murder notwithstanding...

How can peoples actually pick Anya? She did lots of terrible things, she was rarely nice at all 😵

Anyway for me on BtVS it's Tara and Oz. These two never did anything to make me dislike them, they were very sweet persons. But to be honest I think it's mainly because they didn't have that much character development, everyone has issues and things to go through. So i'm sure if they stayed longer or were more explored, we might have seen other sides of them 😛

you have to remember that she's an ex-demon. she is not used to human emotion. So sometimes she opens her mouth and inserts her foot. yeah at first she may have wanted revenge on every living being, but as time went by she started understanding what it meant to be human and what humans go through day-to-day, which is one of the reasons she is a great candidate to be the finest.

If I'm going by what I think Giles meant when he said it in S3 I would say it's definitely Tara. Maybe Buffy or maybe Anya toward the very end of her life. In Angel Fred seems like the obvious choice, but Lorne isn't a bad choice either.
