i have had an interesting argument with a friend (Aly Fan) about who knew that Willow was gay first!
Aly Fan says its Faith, which i kinda agree with...
but in the episode Doppelgangland when Vamp Willow was captured,Willow says to the rest of the gang "and i think im a bit gay..."
Thats when Buffy says that the Vamp self means nothen about the original person, then Angel turns and says "well accually..." but stops...
thats what got me thinking... would that not mean Angel knew that she was going to turn gay?...

thoughts?...

I do not think that Angel was saying he even suspected that Willow would, one day, be all about the curtains, if you get my meaning, more that the Vampire isn't largely different from the Human host because it plays off the inner desires and brings them to the forefront.

That VampWillow/Angel scene was a blatant hint... so once the rumors came flying that someone would "go gay" in S4, I was dead sure it was going to be Willow. I'm sure others had the theory before though - Shempy keeps mentioning Will's pants in S2 (seems they're called some strange name in English I never can remember... you know, those red overallsy pants with the flap & suspenders over the chest 😛 ), saying "we should have KNOWN she's gay by then!"

I just don't appreciate getting 2 neg rep points because someone is too stupid to understand a comment - plus I have been to a bar tonight

Dungarees/Overalls,

I find that very stereotypical and IF I believed that Joss and co put Willow in clothes like that for that reason I would be extremely pissed.

dungarees! yes! (for some reason that word won't "stick" in my brain, lol)

no one is being stereotypical
*gg*

That was a joke, but very BIG stereotype

I would go with Faith (since she was the one at the time Willow was gay who noticed, everyone else was wrapped up in their own lives)

I do love the Angel scene, and it was some great *wink Sarah* Foreshadowing

but Faith imo.

(id always hoped she would though) (sw)

from what i understand, Willow showing signs of being gay was never siezed upon intentionally until S4. Its a classic difference between foreshadowing and utilizing the past. The writers/Joss chose to take Willow in that direction but i dont think it was intended until S4 began.

Now, thats a fairly meaningless subject since most of us couldn't careless what the writers think; only where they take the characters on screen thus defining the characters as we see them. I believe Angel was making a big point about how the vampire self is attributed to the human self... a point that is played out to much more effect in Angel the series and in the chracter of Spike but ultimately i think Faith was indeed the first to notice the attraction.

In another thread recently, i brought up how the concept of 'love' is not black and white... its not a level one aspires to in a relationship. The same i think is true for one sexuality. Faith's understanding that Willow has taken 'a different path' is just a further understanding in this development. Angel making his comment, signs along the way, various 'magic' hand holding, etc lead us to believe that their friendship delves deeper than 'friendship' but as for who noticed this first... its a rather silly concept when we see their relationship as a journey and not an arrival at 'gaydom'.

Oh Edmund, you think everyone everyone generalizes, fix your panties. Anyway.......I totally think Willow didn't even have a clue she was a les. I think Buffy knew and that is why she looked at Angel so funny and then he said something else. Also think Angel knew as well. Faith I don't think knew first cuz' she didn't suspect it until season 4 lol so she was kinda late.

What the eff are you talking about
I don't think Angel was at all suggesting Willow was gay or would turn gay, because JW didn't even know until after he'd cast Amber Benson and he'd shot a couple of episodes with her and Aly. It was only then he realised the great chemistry between them! So in my opinion it was faith who realised first!

Well regardless of Joss not casting Amber or not he still put that line in Dopplegangland so I am convinced other wise.

That "Well, actually" can also contain a whole lot of information about Liam/Angelus/Angel that he really isn't too keen on discussing with Buffy (or anyone else).

I never saw that line in Dopplegangland as Angel being aware of any other sexual path for Willow. I saw it was Willow commenting in her skankiness and evilness, while Buffy and a slow Angel tried to reassure her that she wasn't. Maybe I didn't pick on the foreshadowing as much, but I thought it was more about how Willow to grow up to be a lot more dark-sided then her season 3 self was. So if anything, that little exhange in my eyes forshadowed Dark Willow in season 6.

Faith was definitely more aware that Willow was at least experiementing with her sexuality in that little exchange. But as for who was aware first? I'd say Tara 😉

Good point def. insane! I see what you mean about season 6.

Also edmund I am talking about you always thinking someone is stereotyping in one way or another.

I feel that it's Faith. She has the tendency to notice things, and she was the one who knew, IMOH, and knew first.

well, I do not thnk it was faith but good point about the noticing things!
Faith also didn't have a gradiating scale to work with like the others. She didn't know Willow all that well, so to be honest, her snap judgements are probably more accurate than a general idea of the person that the others have.

What the hell are you all talking about, the first one to realize that Willow was gay was Anya. lol just joking

I think it's clear that the first one to know was Tara🙂

What the [expletive deleted] are you one on about.
Insane Mystic actually said that Shemp was refering to the stereotypical image of a lesbian in dungarees, as a joke.
I said that IF I believed Joss had done something like that I would be pissed, I didn't say that Joss HAD done that and I didn't say anyone was actually being stereotypical.
Get a god damned clue you fruitloop.
