Who likes spicy food?

Im pretty much addicted to spice, most food feels bland to me without a bit of a kick. Be it soup or curry, everything has to be shockingly hot for me to really enjoy it... Naga Jolaka's, Mikes Insanity... Mikes Insanity Private Reserve... i just cant get enough! I also tend to laugh when certain food brands tend to market something as 'hot' only to find its not even remotely... it seems marketing 'hot' has become quite popular recently.

...anyone else?

right there with ya, i adore spicy food but im always the only one ordering it , its yummy, i did eat indian food once though and it bet me, a lil to hot, i should try it again some time

I love spicy food, but I don't like blow your mind hot.
The problem with alot of Curries in the UK is that they add so much chilli because people have become accustomed to curries being that way, and they lack the taste and flavour that proper curry should have.

I must admit I do like to use chillis on lots of things, like I love my traditional sunday roast chicken with chilli🙂

I agree, there is a big difference in styles. I think it consists of this... People who hate spice and avoid it.... people who like a little but cant tell the difference... people who like it but couldnt careless about flavour (more of a manly 'how hot can I take') ...and then theirs the conisours of spice.

Take hot sauces for an example. Their are some ridiculously hot sauces out their that consist of habanero or equivalent chili extract but they taste absolutely terrible. Most extract sauces are more of a party piece than an actual cooking ingredient (in fact the only exceptions I know of are Daves and Balir's).

A lot of curry houses and Balti's restauraunts (I include UK only in this category since US indian is rarely spicy and US mexican/ US eastern is brilliant in its own right) just dont know how to make a really good hot curry and just resort to a single spice extract. Then there are the places that know what their doing, mixing spices in just a way that make every single other ingredient burst with flavour...and I absolutely love it!

Oh just when I'm craving a hot tom yum to get over my cold...hell yes do I love spicy food. I was brought up on thai food, and while it's not all hot and spicy, I love that kick you get from eating a hot curry and having that whole lip burning sensation. lol

I absolutly lovbe spicy food! there is no food I don't have to flavor extra... My partens always say my gustative nerve is dead =)

I can't eat spicy food! I freak out. Everyone thinks i'm mad, but everytime I try spicy foods, my eyes water, my face goes red, I can't breathe!

Even the smell of spicy food makes my face burn.

Uh I love spicy food. And you know this Peking soup they have at Chinese restauratns? (well, at least in Germany) I always like to add so much of that chili sauce they also have standing around. My Mom always freaks out that I'm putting in absolutely too much, and I can see when she tries to spice her soup she uses the teeniest bit of chillisauce and still thinks it's super hot.
So yeah, I love things spicy.

I love things spicey, but not all the time. Some dishes just have to taste the way they are meant. Most of the soups I eat for example shouldn't be flavoured too spicey, as they just wouldn't harmonise. Though chili, Mexican and African food should be really really spicey. Only once did I bump into something that was too spicey for me and that was, when I accidently bit on piece of African "pili-pili" and it killed me for the next hour. That wasn't too great, but otherwise I really love food spicey and with test. Another time I had a small competition with a friend of my brother who could down more tabasco with his food. I had more than half of the bottle in my food and ate it all before he was finished and then also downed an entire glass of sparkling water without complaint. I must braindead.

BTW: Just recently I ate a full piece of garlic and I was shocked by the spciey ring to it. Mh, didn't taste nice at all in this high concentration ^^

I love spicy food, but not so hot your mouth is on fire! My favorite spicy food has to be a good curry i love them 🙂

I like spicy food, but I'm from Texas so that kinda comes with the territory! I don't like "can't feel your tongue...or the upper half of your face" hot, but I do appreciate a little kick. I stayed at a bed and breakfast once and the proprietor served an egg dish with poblano peppers in it for breakfast.....OMG, yum. HEAVEN yum. Give me the recipe right NOW yum. Y'all get the picture. One Thanksgiving we ate out at place that served mashed potatoes that had some sort of peppers in them.....VERY yum, but I have no idea what kind they were...they just added to the flavor, tho, they didn't take it over completely.

There's not a lot of food I don't like, but really hot food isn't for me. I want to enjoy my food, and to me, having my mouth on fire isn't enjoyable. But I like curries that aren't crazy hot. I love all the funky flavours. 😀

irc karma. just cuz.
I'm not into hot spicing, but I go crazy with spicing when it comes to oregano, sweet pepper, mild curry and (most especially) garlic. I seem to have medieval taste buds - everything boiled into soft oblivion and heavily spiced, lol.

As a Mexican, I'm almost obligated to like spicy foods -- so it's no surprise that I like a little extra kick in just about anything, from cayenne pepper on the fried eggs to chili oil in stir-fried veggies. IMHO, spicy food is the cure for the common cold. It's also good for your heart and helps your circulatory system deal with extreme high and low temperatures. Spicy FTW! 😀

as long as you remember to drink your milk after it... ;)
I love spicy foods too, always dress up family meals with peppers when given the chance. I have a friend who grows all sorts of them and pickels the habeneros in a very tasty way. Made a delicios mean bloody marry with them once.

I prefer soups and casseroles to curry though.... Or just straight pickled peppers and ice tea. I usually go for the hot and somewhat sour spice job over the hot and sweat style.
