Its out of Spike or Angel ?!?!

Definitely Spike. Even soulless he loved Buffy. Angelus just wanted to kill her and make her suffer.

"Even soulless he loved Buffy." -- Says it all!
I would like to be like everyone else and make it so simple and say 'Spike obv loved her more' but it just doesn't seem fair.
They were both very different relationships and Angel and Spike are very different people (vampires).
Angel hd, to my knowledge never been inlove before, with Darla he was never all gushy and inlove and Buffy was probably the first person he'd ever loved (unless someone can tell me different). Their whole relationship had a very big 'first love' feel to it.
Whereas Spike has always been a Romeo and Juliet kinda guy, as we've seen between him and Drusilla. And, come on, talk about wanting what you can't have. I think there was just a lot more lust between Buffy and Spike but I don't really know how you judge someones amount of love.

I do think that Spike loved her more. While Angel did start to seek redemption for Buffy and she eventually led him to go from a rat-eating homeless guy with good intentions to a hero, Spike literally changed everything he was and everything he was striving to be for her, even after he convinced himself that she would never love him (which I disagree with). Plus, Spike loved her even without his soul while Angelus absolutely loathed her (which is one of the reasons why I really don't think the whole "Spike trying to rape her" thing is a valid argument against Spuffy for Bangels, but I digress).

Now, as for who Buffy loved more, that's much harder to choose. My first instinct is to say Angel...after all, she was so madly in love with him in seasons 2 and 3, and clearly, she still had some feelings left for him in Chosen (although I don't think she still had the burning, "I love you so much I wanna die" kind of love for him that she had in seasons 2 and 3). But when I think about it, I'm really not sure. Yes, I do think that she had a deeper romantic love for Angel, but her love for Spike went a lot further than that...while she certainly did have very strong romantic feelings toward him, she also loved him as a friend and ally, and by the end of Chosen, she seemed to trust him more than she did Angel. So overall, I'm torn.

It's kind of a close call, but I may have to say Angel. Angel only left because he knew with his curse that he and Buffy could never really be together. The first thing Spike did when he had his body back was have sex with Harmony. And then he could have left to meet up with Buffy, but chose not to. I know this was so they could keep him on Angel, but the excuse they gave him was kind of flimsy.

Hmm. I don't know if you can necessarily compare them. Their love for her was so different, although equally real. Spike has all of the obvious things going for him; he loved her soulless, he won his soul for her, and he's basically been devoted completely to her since Season 5. But Angel loved her too, even if the nature of his love was completely different. I think it might be like comparing apples and oranges. I also think Buffy was The One for both men (er, vampires), even if there were women before and after her.

I'm a big fan of Bangel, and I think Angel was Buffy's true love, but did anybody noticed that Spike loved Buffy with and without soul? But when Angel was bad, he hated Buffy. Why?

^^^^ nope its because angel and angelus ae different people and spike is just spike =)
I think it's hard to decide how anyone can love anyone the most. Love is relative. But let's look at it.

Angel loved Buffy, Angel humped Buffy(sorry for the use of word 'hump', but it cracks me up), and he turned evil. Even as an evil guy Angel showed some sort of twisted infatuation with Buffy. Wether this was love or some weird psycho trick he played on her is unknown.

Spike showed from the beginning an unusual interest, no obsession, with Buffy. This later led to Dru leaving him, and Spike being torn about his own feelings. At some point in season 4 he realized the obsession wasn't the normal kind of hate obsession, but something deeper. Spike later on confessed to love Buffy, and fought against his own kind to prove it. In the end Spike got a soul for Buffy, to prove himself worthy for her. To give her what she deserves. Enduring enormous amounts of pain he got his soul back.

My point is that Spike loved her the most. Angel loved her as well, but not as much as Spike. Angel had a soul when he fell in love, Spike didn't. But Spike got his soul, because he deep down knew that he was still evil at some point. He tried to rape Buffy because of his lack of 'spark', and his love for her realized that it wasn't enough. Angel lost his soul, and went psycho killer on Buffy's life and friends, which I hardly would call love. Putting the spark in Spike doesn't mean he finally learned to love. He loved from the beginning, but the fact that he was soulless complicated it all.

"You can't love without a soul."
It's not true. You can love without a soul, but people with souls can't love you back - Quoted lightly from the book Spike - Spark and Burn

Very well-worded and very true!
This thread will easily just play into whatever 'ship you follow... but i will say one thing:

Angel had the chance to be with Buffy, to be human in 'I will remember you', and he chose to fulfil his own mission first.

^ I disagree. I look at it from a neutral perspective. If Angel had done what Spike did, I'd say Angel loved her the most, but if wouldn't change my Spuffy shipping

thats nice. Somehow I dont see this thread bringing out the 'neutrality' in people :p

Didn't that also have something to do with the PtB telling him that without him also fighting the 'good fight' he would put the Slayer in more danger?

I don't think that's word for word what they said but I seem to remember some part of his decision being about the consequences of his being human on Buffy and her well being?

Yet he spends the next 4 years trying to become human. Cant have it both ways, pick one.
Spike loved Buffy more. No doubt about it.
But I think Buffy loved Angel more... stupid woman! XD

I very much agree with Perny's post--she stated it perfectly!

Spike had a "thing", for lack of a better term, for Buffy from the first time he saw her. He tried to deny the attraction by throwing himself into planning ways to kill her but he could never fully escape from it. This led to Dru leaving him for the Chaos demon because even someone as crazy as she was could see that Buffy haunted him even then.

The Initiviative putting the chip in Spike's head served as a perfect way to show these initial feelings slowly growing into something more. It made sense because we'd seen that he was more passionate about her (or the killing of her) than the other show's baddies (the speech in "Halloween", anyone?), which seemed to stem from him having some deeper unknown motive for wanting her dead.

Then the sixth season happened... While "Seeing Red" is one Buffy episode that I will probably never watch again, it really served as a jumping off place for Spike getting his soul. He knew that she could never love him unless he had "the spark" and I think that was the first time that he realized that the possibility of him hurting her in a moment of frustration and anger was a reality, one that he knew that he had to do something about.

Yes, Angel loved her enough to leave so that she could move on... and yet got jealous every time she tried to do just that, popping back into her life to inform her of his disapproval. He also went evil and felt nothing for her but hatred. "She made me feel human. That's not the kind of thing you just forgive."

Spike, on the other hand, loved her without his soul and couldn't bring himself to kill her. Even when he had a clear shot in Fool for Love he looked into those eyes and couldn't do it, comforting her instead. That scene is the one that convinced me that he loved her beyond any kind of reason.

And now I've babbled way too much... Hopefully this made sense, I tend to ramble when I get on my favorite subject (Spuffy)!

Hellooo people, Faith loved her the most......ok now as the official only Fuffy shipper to have post here, I'll just shut up lol

But if I have to choose between Angel and Spike, as it seems by the poll 😛, I think Spike loved her more, but Buffy loved Angel more as some other already said. Damn, stupid love triangle, those never works.

lol, hihihi. We need the Faith choice to vote!
The thread started out as a question of who loved Buffy the most, but since it has gotten around to which vampire she loved the most, I've just gotta toss in my opinion. So here goes.

Buffy loved Angel. No one could ever doubt that. And I fully believe that she WANTED to love him the most, always. That was the main reason that she denied her real feelings for Spike for so long before finally acknowledging them. She wanted Angel to be her one and only, her shining, if somewhat tarnished, prince. But in the end, it wasn't Angel who she chose to fight by her side, and it wasn't Angel who she spent what could very well have been her last night on earth with. I think that she finally began to realize there in the Guardian's crypt, after her fight with Caleb, that it was Spike who gave her back the fire (referring here to Season 6 Buffy song, "Walk Through The Fire") She left Angel there in that cemetary and went back home to share Spike's bed. She could just as easily spent the night with Angel. There were obviously plenty of vacant houses available. He could have "just held her," the same as Spike did the night before. They had done it before, after they knew about the curse on Angel's soul. They could have comforted each other one more time before the went their separate ways once more. She had a choice of who she would spend her last few private hours with, and she chose Spike. For me, that settles any doubt as to who the Slayer loved the most.

So, Spike loved Buffy the most, and just by coincidence, she loved him the most, too. It just took her quite awhile to admit it.
