I'm just wondering. I looove Joyce, I think she is awesome!! She's smart & funny & Kristine is amazing. She is probably one of my favorite characters. I just really enjoy her scenes & wanted to show some appreciation 😀

On the fence. I liked her a lot better by the time she died in season five but she could kind of get annoying in the early seasons when they had to write around Buffy being a Slayer but her mother not knowing. And I get a little irritated by the way she treats Giles when she first finds out Buffy is a slayer and he was her watcher.

I love Joyce and Spike moments they are the absolute BEST!

I have to admit, I didn't like her much in season 1, but she's cool in the later seasons. I love her "relationship" with Spike. She treated him like a human, not like the vampire he really was. And she knew what he was too.

But she didn't like Angel too much though. Basically told him to leave in season 3.

Oh yes! I love her scenes with Spike! Funny stuff.

This is one of my favorite scenes:

I also love her and Giles in Band Candy...

Anyone else have a favorite Joyce scene?

*Love* that scene with Spike
Re:

Whats not to love? I think Joyce was an excellent addition to the cast. I think I liked her so much because she had some very similar characteristics of my own mother. The obsessive twirling of the dress before her date (My mother would SO do that) , her capability of being civil to anyone (or anything...Spike), and I've even had my mother yell at me as I was walking out the back door "If you walk out that door don't even think about coming back!" It makes sense that when they aired "The Body" I had an uncomfortable feeling about me for the rest of the day. I know, I know...I'm a tard...whatever.

I know what you mean. I actually don't ever rewatch The Body because it disturbs me so much....it's just too realistic for me. If I ever found my mother like that...I'd flip out. Buffy was surprisingly calm, even though she was in shock.

Same. I very rarely ever rewatch The Body for similar reasons. Even when I'm having one of my well know "Buffy-O-Thons" I usually skip over that one. It shocked me that it took me a while to recover from that episode...it just made my mind wander. I usually don't get so emotionally involved in television, but that one just got to me.

I feel no need to reply to the title of this thread for what should be obvious reasons, haha. I will merely say 'I concur and more, please carry on'. 😀 Haha.

Okay, so maybe I'll be back later....maybe.

I think Joyce is a great character, like most people have said, it was very sad when she died in S5.

I remember hearing that originally they were going to make Buffy have an off-screen mom, I'm glad they chose not to in the end.

I don't really, to be honest. But I learned to deal with her. At first, I thought she was just an annoying mum, but I managed to get over that initial dislike, and now I appreciate her more. Not to say I like her, tho. I was actually quite happy when she died (although, not simply because there would be no more Joyce, but most of all, because of the importance of her deathh for the rest of the show). I love her scenes with Spike most (wonder why..), they're really funny at times, and they also show how good a person Joyce really is.

Band Candy is one of my favorite Joyce episodes!! I am pretty much constantly cracking up watching that ep :lmao: Her & Giles together is slightly creepy & strange to me but at the same time, they're so interesting to watch together in their scenes.

I love her too and with spike think they have such great chemistry with
Buffy and when shes with spike they make me giggle becuase how well they get on.
