I was thinking about this and wondering who could have done this?

The first choice obviously being the PTB as they would seem more interested in Angel surviving than anyone else, afterall he has an importnt role to play in the apocalypse. Although we know that the ptb arent prone to divine intervention, unless you count cryptic visions, which at this time there would have been noone to recieve them who could or would do anything so this might have been their only course of action.

It could also be said to be some natural power, something higher than the PTB, like a holy spirit type thing, something ambiguous and possibly beyond our understanding.

It could also be some evil agent, such as the circle of the black thorn or wolfram and hart who also know angel has a role to play in the apocalypse, so dont want him getting killed, although the first evil does want him dead, this doesn't necessarily mean evil beings do. Afterall we know that the first's apocalypse interferes with W&H's which is why they stopped it. Although it seems strange that if they did do it that they never mentioned it during angel, afterall it would put angel down a bit to know it wasn't divine intervention that saved him, instead he owed his life to evil.

Or it could have been purely a bizzarre coincidence, improbable i know but not impossible.

Although my own personal theory, which i'm not 100% sure i believe in myself is that jasmine did it afterall she was actively interfering with peoples lives at thsi point, as two years earlier she had caused fred and lorne to switch realities. and we know that she had the power to do such a thing, she had a motive and we know that she would have done this thing, i mean she honestly didnt care how mkuch she messed things up.

So who do you think made it snow in amends?

For me, i would have to go with the PtB or Jasmine.

Angel was a massive part of the plans of both of them. The PtB needed him as their champion and Jasmine needed him as part of her plan to create Connor and bring herself into the world. In both cases he was pretty much irreplaceable for the beings in question an so letting the First convince him to commit suicide was out of thw question.

Given that the PtB usually allow the lower beings such as humans and vampires to make their own choices, even if that is to choose to die, it does seem out of character for them to stop Angel from doing so. However, he was being manipulated by the Ultimate Evil and so they perhaps decided to make the snow happen in order to try and convince him that he was destined for greater things than to fill an ashtray. To give him a second chance to choose to live. Jasmine, of course, had no problem in manipulating anybody for her own purposes so it could just as easily have been her.

Either way, it's (yet another) of those questions that Joss chose to leave up to the imagination of the viewer.

I would have gone for Mother Nature too, but how does that explain the lack of sunlight too. It would have to be a higher being for that to happen. I'm going to go with the PTB as I know that Jasmine was around at that time but I can't see her messing with Angel all that time ago.

I'm gonna go with mother nature too....the lack of sunlight I'd say was simply due to the cloud cover caused by the snow storm.

My first guess was a little gift from the PTB (or maybe Whistler, lol I donno) which would make sense concidering Angel's their warrior in a way. But after much time of pondering I just chalked it up to a Christmas miracle 🙂 (which I wouldn't be surprised, I mean this is Sunnydale😉)

I think possibly, and don't quote me on this, that it was Joss Whedons idea.
Maybe he thought it not prudent to kill off a character that was about to have his own spin off.
Maybe i'm wrong, who knows?

Well, ultimately, Joss is the God of the Whedonverse, so i guess you are probably right! 😀

Well, when I saw this episode I obviously hadn't seen AtS, so I just assumed it was one of those things that can happen in BtVS, just because it sort of needed to happen.. I don't really need more of an explanation to this particular thing 🙂

Well he was messing with fred and lorne 2 years before so why not angel

It seemed like the PTB, but when I look at it again it seems more Jasmine like. We know it couldn't be the First...why would the first break Angel only to save him? That doesn't make sense to me. So yeah, PTB/Jasmine, probably.

My opinion: it 'twas indeed a Christmas miracle, so I think it can safely be implied (despite Joss' general disdain for organized religion) that it was pulled off by God. Specifically, the Christian God who gets all sentimental around Christmas time because it's his son's birthday.

There's a famous Joss quote on the snow in Amends where he says it's OK to believe that even though he himself is an atheist.

I like the idea of Jasmine being the one who made it snow, Just cuz it would be a cool little reference in there!
What about do you think she can be credited with bring him back from the hell dimension?

I have thought along those lines myself, it seems like a very jasmine thing to do and shes the only one i can think of with the power, that would actually use the power, as we know the PTB generally don't directly get involved

I always thought it was just one of those things that happened because it would be romantic.

But if I had to go with someone to place behind it, I would say the PTB, because it's after this season that Angel goes off and they become known to him.

Does anyone else find it odd that a being like Jasmine (whatever the heck she is) can not bring herself into the world in a corporeal sense, but can control the weather? (something the entire real human world cannot do) I think there is no doubt it was a "Christmas miracle", or, for those of you who aren't squeemish in discussing fundamental truths, creator God.) Granted, Joss is an atheist, but there are simply too many questions unanswered about the mystical inner-workings of the Buffyverse to exclude God. Where does magic come from? How did the primitive men get the power to give to the Slayer? More importantly, why do certain spoken words do certain things? (spells, incantations, etc) Why does a vampire not also get a person's soul when they kill them? Who does? The creators of Buffy can no more explain every facit of their universe than philosophers and scientists can explain all the amazing details of our world. There is a God, and He is in control, whether through things seen or unseen. Call him TPTB, or don't address him at all, but the underlying truth of the matter is, there's somebody there.

I suppose it was created so if you believe in God you can says it's his doing all that stuff, or you can believe it's the PtB's. Although I have no doubt in my mind that it's not God, Jasmine could bring herself into the world in the corporal sense, it's just a huge effort, and she had to go through all that so she could look human. Like when she went down to the other world, she probably looked like one of those weird spider monster things.

Considering she was able to manipulate everything, I think a little weather control doesn't seem so impressive!

I like to think it was the PTB that did it, Jasmine just made out that she was responcible for Team Angel's paths they chose, i never thought that what Jasmine said was concrete anyway.why would Jasmine send the snow so Angel could gain a clue as to his Champion life he was about to lead..? Why save his life like that..? At what point did she interfere..? My own personal theory is when Cordy was having bad headaches due to the visions.Jasmines powers were probably restricted a bit so she couldn't get to our plane unless she made herself human, i see a paralell bet that and the way God became one of us in human form, (If you believe the gospel accounts, i do but that's my personal view)
It seems the motive for the snow was for good so i'll believe it was the PTB , until otherwise.
