When I read about or look at clips of certain people I get really inspired to be a better me.
Who (of people you don't know) inspire you? And why?

For me:

* Ellen Degeneres for her positive outlook on life and kind heart.
* The late swedish politician Olof Palme for standing up for values like solidarity and humanity.
* Anita Sarkeesian from feminist frequency for her amazing feminist culture analyzes and her ability to talk about difficult things in an easily accessible manner.
* Beth Ditto from Gossip for how fearless she is.

I am really inspired by the author Paulo Coelho. Every time I read him I learn more about how to live live.

Also inspired by the Dalai Lama and people like him.

Am inspired by a lot of musicians too. Like Jack White and Bob Dylan and Tori Amos. They all make me want to make music.

I think that's it. Of real people. I'm inspired by a lot of fictional people too.

Paulo Coelho writes really interesting! I thought the alchemist was great!
Morrissey, Jonsi and to a lesser extent Frank Turner. Music inspires me to be confident and has given me a huge passion for music and life in general.

Also Charlotte Bronte, Oscar Wilde and Joss Whedon inspire me to write.

Morrissey karma!
Emma Watson! The more I watch interviews of her, the more she inspires me!

She's like the whole package: she is gorgeous but not in a "I-only-cultive-my-appearance" kind of way. Because she's also smart, funny, kind-hearted, lovely, a lil bit goofy at times, hilarious, she's an excellent student, she's down to earth even tough she's from a huuuuge franchise, she's classy but not stuck up, sexy but not vulgar, and you can tell she has an incredible mind. I used to dislike her, but I think she really grew up into a marvellous young woman, and she really is a source of inspiration. When I'm a bit down, if I watch one of her interviews, it makes me want to be like that and encourage me to be like a better version of myself.
Emma

-Taylor Swift. The fact that at such a young age, she had THAT much determination and THAT much perseverance inspires me beyond belief. She's so wonderful and fantastic... I know it sounds cheesy, but I want to be like her, and she's only a year older than me!

and
-James Marsters. He inspires me on a personal level... he's so warm and kind, he loves people. He loves learning, and does so all the time. He's an amazing father. He's a good husband. He's funny, but never rude. And even though I don't personally know him, I look up to him... in a paternal sort of way.

people that do incredible things for others and who aren't selfish this could be anyone but mostly people you read about in the paper for good things they may have done. I also love Victoria Beckham I know shes not the most fantastic role model weight wise but I think she's worked really hard to find something she's very good at, shes honed her talent and made a success of herself in her own right, I have admiration for anyone with that amount of determination and ambition.

Joss Whedon and Iginio Straffi inspire me because they are incredibly witty and creative, and follow wherever their ideas take them despite what people might say about them... can you imagine being one of these guys and thinking up some of the most wild ideas for shows and stories? I can't imagine being a guy and being brave enough to think of stories where the girl does the bulk of the rescuing.

Greta Morgan because she, like the rest of the bands she's been in, has the courage to change. The second album by The Hush Sound was very haunting and mainly about doomed love... and through new songs, albums, and a new band, the style has changed. It's catchy, upbeat, and love is celebrated. Compare the song Don't Wake Me Up by THS, and Gold Motel's Perfect In My Mind.

People that selflessly give their time to do what they can to help other people inspire me, celebrities or not. Whenever I hear of people who do amazing things or give their time to wonderful causes, they inspire me to be a better person.

Sarah Michelle Gellar. I grew up with her. In my eyes, she's this wonderful, funny woman. She takes her job seriously, but also has a lot of fun. She puts her family first.. which is really good. Celebrities mostly put their career in the first place, and because of that there are so many divorces in Hollywood.

J.K Rowling.. you have to admire a woman who has a limitless imagination.

Jane Austen.. because she was different. For her time. She didn't want to marry for someone she didn't love, so she never married.. which was really bad at the time. She stood up for what she believed. Also, she was a great writer.

Portia de Rossi - not only is she incredibly beautiful, poised and graceful, but she is a really caring individual. She had a lot of problems coming to terms with who she is, which I think everybody can relate to on some scale, but she has found peace by being honest to herself and others and seems to genuinely be the happiest she's ever been. Plus, she's a vegan, she reads Sylvia Plath, she's been on arguably some of the greatest tv shows in recent years, and she doesn't seem to realise how incredible she is. What's not to love?

have you read her book... unbearable lightness?
Roy Keane and Christina Aguilera. The both of them are polarising personalities, people tend to either love them or loathe them. But for me the two of them are incredible forces to be reckoned with. They are determined and committed, they have sacrificed and struggled throughout their lives for what they believe in and haven't been cowed by detractors or their mistakes. And there have been many mistakes; for both of them. They strive to be the best in what they do but also have been humbled by that pursuit. And yet they still go on. They are strong. And I love it.

Tom Sullivan, whose autobiography tells his story of a boy, blind from birth, who refuses to accept the term "handicap." Among other things, he learned skydiving, golf, and scuba diving. When his 4 year old daughter fell in their pool, he was able to rescue and resuscitate her.

Patrick Swayze, "The Time Of My Life" shows his difficult childhood growing up in Texas, and ends with his courage and determination to beat pancreatic cancer.

James Butler Bonham, the last messenger from the Alamo, who literally fought his way back into the stockade to deliver the final message that no help was coming, and the defenders, himself among them, were doomed, so that the 186 men there could prepare themselves for their inescapable fate.

The 400 men, survivors of the "U S S Indianapolis," sunk during World War 2, who stayed adrift in the Pacific for 4 days, fighting off sharks, barracuda, hunger, and thirst, before being rescued, and especially their Captain, who lived the rest of his life falsely accused of negligence leading to the sinking, even though the evidence overwhelmingly proved him innocent.

Love all of these!
Aron Ralston- He's the guy the movie 127 hours is based on. He was trapped for days and ultimately cut his own arm off to save his life. I find that brave, courageous and inspiring.

Tina Fey- She's pretty, smart, and funny. I love that.

Tina Fey karma!
Rachel McAdams - She grew up close to where I live, and she was able to make it big in life. She's living my dream, and she inspires me everyday. Plus, I have the biggest crush on her. 🙂

Amanda Hocking - She's only 24, and she became a millionaire from self-publishing her books on Amazon. I've always wanted to be a writer, and she inspires me to do what I want to do, and not let publishers put me down. She was able to make it big in the book industry without a publisher, editor, agent, nothing.

Ellen Degeneres - She's just amazing. She always looks on the bright side of things, and she always makes me feel good about myself.
