So I just started watching charmed and I am really starting to get into it. I am wondering what your thoughts are on it?

Was watching it last night on Netflix, hadn't seen its I was younger and wanted to reminisce.
Disappointed that they don't have the original theme song on Netflix though. That song used to get me super pumped 🙂

I watched it occasionaly when it was aired in Germany but I stopped when they fired Shannon doherty.

The theme song is the best. I watch it through kodi so i can hear the theme song lol

I've always viewed Charmed as "Buffy lite". It was light hearted supernatural fun, but I never honestly took it as seriously as I did Buffy, largely because when Charmed did camp, they did all the way, whereas Buffy balanced out it's campiness with its other elements like action, tragedy, comedy, etc. I used to hate it when people compared the two, largely because it was on the same network, and it was a supernatural show featuring women. That's where the comparisons end, and it sucks because I feel Buffy is vastly superior in every way. But the theme song still rocks. (Even though The Smiths did it better. 😉)

The quality of the show certainly went down after Shannon Doherty left, Prue was my favourite 🙁 Still, I continued to watch for the other sisters.

I love Charmed. Not as much as Buffy of course but I do have the complete box set on dvd. I like to do re watches of stuff when I'm in the mood. 🙂

Funnily enough, I prefer later seasons 🙂

I never liked Prue, as a character, not the actress, so I was happy to see the lovely Ms. McGowan take over because Paige is just wonderful. I rewatch it a lot, have seen it at least a dozen times, especially the later seasons, but I agree, it isn't Buffy. It doesn't strive to be iconic in the same way or tell meaningful stories, the way Buffy does/did. It's just meant to be a fun forty minutes every week to take your mind off your own, lack of supernatural, life. And that's about as serious as I take it, which might be why I enjoy it so much 😀

I love/hate Charmed. Loved it when it came, started disliking it when it became "who can show the most cleavage" show, disliked Phoebe/Cole going on forever, thought they handeled Prue's departure very awkwardly, loved the addition of Paige, but then hated it come the last season or so. Piper was always my favorite, then tied with Paige, so maybe that's why I still have a soft spot for it 🙂 (Phoebe post-season 2 is the worst character by far, ugh.)

I did re-watch it all on Netflix last year or so though (because it was about to be taken off Netflix) and it is still a fun show, I mean it has obvious and some terrible flaws, but from season 1-6 or so they don't really bother me, the last seasons - as mentioned - are a different story. It's not very deep, but that just means it's a great show for when you want to take a break from the suckiness of the world sometimes 😉

Edit: what really bothered me when I re-watched the show on Netflix was that they had removed the theme song from all seasons, not sure why. I'm guessing it's a licensing issue. (Watched from Swedish Netflix so I'm sure it's not the same everywhere. I really missed that theme song though)

I would catch a few episodes on Channel 5 back in the day. I'm sure while waiting for my Sunset Beach to come on. I couldn't get into it, it seemed like a soap opera version of Buffy, with more confusing writing choices. I can see its appeal though. I don't know who the characters are but I always had a soft spot for Shannon Doherty because she had a reputation for being a bitch.

I knew Charmed and Buffy at the same time. I was a young teenager and I loved both series. To tell you everything I even had a preference for Charmed. The universe of magic, the good-natured side, the good morals, there is in this series I find a wonderful aspect that made dream the adolescent that I was. At that time I also liked Buffy but I was less fan because it was too dark, too serious, but actually what I did not understand at the time was that it was more real simply. Today when I watch Charmed, I notice many inconsistencies that I did not see before and realize that writing is not as deep as in Buffy, I analyze things less. After that remains a good entertainment. However I am not a fan of Seasons 7-8 of Charmed. It's another atmosphere and I do not know it ever got me on board.

Phoebe post-season 2 is the worst character by far, ugh
I don't know if i would say that BUT yes Phoebe in the later season irritate me. Her obsession to find love is... well pathetic !

I liked it (especially the early seasons), but it got pretty bad when every week was just advertising whether they'd be turning 'from witch to bitch'.
