Who Opened The Door?

I was just watching a Youtube piece called "River Tam's fight Scenes," and I noticed something that I had completely missed before. The blast doors were rigged so that they couldn't be opened from the outside once they were closed, and none of the rest of the crew were able to stand, much less walk over and unlock the door, and yet when Mal comes hobbling in, as though pre-planned, the door swings open, revealing River , axe and sword dripping blood, standing alone in a room full of sliced and diced reevers. So, who opened the blast door?

I thought it was the other way around that the doors once rigged could only be opened from the outside, and that River opened them.

No, the door was riged so that, once closed, it COULDN'T be opened from the outside thus keeping the Reevers out. Then it got jammed, and River went out and freed it, but was dragged back before she could get back in.

Resulting in the classic case of a group of cannibals finally biting off more than they could chew. (Sorry, I just HAD to say it)

Well Kaylee is pretty clever - maybe she rigged up some kind of reaver detector so that the doors would open when they got bored and went home?
 
Wow, I can't believe that with all the times I've watched that movie I haven't noticed that little detail... I guess River's posing is just that awesome 😀

(obviously I have no answer to this question but it's sure to bug me next time I watch it)
 
Oh that Kaylee is a clever girl isn't she? Setting the doors to open (using a timer device), with Mal being in close proximity to the doors, his DNA activated the timer and that is what opened the doors.
Kaylee forgot that the button needed to be pressed twice to close the doors completely.

Apparently, using the timer device was done as a favour to Joss, Kaylee said it would add to the dramatic effect.
Rumour has it that she didn't like her name of Kay Winnit Lee Frye and did that as a trade off to have the character known as Kaylee.
 
The last slice of River's battle-axe took a reaver's head clean off.

The head hit the door-open button.

Case closed.
 
Or did Mal turn the power back on after sending the message out... when he gets a bridge to walk back on etc...? Something that might have affected the door as well?
 
Hmmmmmm I know or well I think I know, that the door that River went through, Kaylee rigged that once it was shut, the reavers couldn't get in. I guess by the alliance breaking down walls and everything could have done something to override what Kaylee did. However, I am liking [MENTION=9613]LyteHouse[/MENTION] theory.
