She did in S8.

She was just really, REALLY horny and frustrated. As Xander said:

Eureka! In the companion poll thread, I have finally come up with the perfect couple: Cluffy! That's right, Clem and Buffy. Clem is a fun-loving guy who admires Buffy and Buffy has already trusted him to babysit Dawn. His sense of fun could rub off on her. Her courage could rub off on him. It would be a win-win for both of them. Quick! Somebody write me a fanfic!

But Buffy looked almost identical to Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Joss was being poetic, not literal. It means that the art doesn't have to look exactly like the actors, it just needs to capture the essence of the characters. The comics art may not look exactly like the actors, but it captures the characters' personality. And that's the important thing. I think it works.

Buffy looks like a bratty child not a supposed 22 year old woman or however old she's supposed to be.

So far, I'm having a hard time connecting to Buffy's character in the comics which is weird because she's my favorite character of all time. It's probably the writing but the drawings are definitely not helping.

I've already made a post on this subject but since u guys gave such varying answers i thought a poll would be best.

I've merged the two threads together. In future, if you want a poll attaching to an existing thread, just ask a member of staff. 🙂

She IS being bratty in that moment. She was sometimes bratty and childish on the show too. That's just one of her character traits.

If you're in season 9, then it's just because of the weak writing of Andrew Chambliss, IMO. I love Buffy in seasons 8 & 10 (and all throughout the TV show, of course). Well, in MOST of season 10.

Yes, I'm still in season 9 so that might be it. God I can't wait to be caught up on the comics so I can have discussions while knowing all the facts lol

That's where the benefit of an actor comes in, SMG could make it somewhat endearing, you can't do that in comics. Also if it did look like SMG, memories of the tv show would help lessen the brat factor. If Buffy is like that in the comics when she was generally loveable in show, I dread to think what a bitch comic Kennedy is when show Kennedy was just awful.

He writes for OUAT as well. The quality of writing has declined in the past 3 seasons. Not saying that's Chambliss' fault but it seems like a general problem with the writing on OUAT.

'Soulles Spike was not so bad.' That was when it became clear Buffy was beyond saving as a character because she was utterly too mental. But nothing new there really, been saying that since the Dawnverse came into existence.

Well, I can only speak for myself... When I read the lines in the comics, I always read them in the voices of the characters in my head. And because the writing is (usually) very in-character, I can easily imagine how SMG (or any of the other actors) would play the scenes in the comics. So, to me, Sarah is acting there and making the lines and drawings even more endearing. Like in that page I posted: When Buffy says "That is the most--", I can TOTALLY imagine Sarah acting that moment, with that adorable annoyed/insulted voice she gets (the same tone of voice she used when she said "What?! I dated that ringworm!" about Scott Hope in 'Conversations with Dead People'), and I totally get lost in that feeling of the show again. It WORKS for me.

Buffy is lovable in both the show and the comics, IMO (well, except for some of season 9 and a bit of season 10, anyway, as I said). And I think it is generally accepted that Kennedy is better in the comics than she was on the show...

I don't watch OUAT, so I can't talk about that. I do know that Chambliss wrote some great episodes on Dollhouse. He just didn't work for season 9 of Buffy, IMO.

She was trying to be supportive toward Spike in that moment. And soulless Spike DID have redeeming qualities. I don't have any problem with that moment. I had a few problems with Buffy in parts of season 10, but that wasn't one of them.

I don't care what she was trying to do. The fact is soulles Spike WAS that bad. To sweep that under the rug does no one any favors, least of all the characters of Buffy and Spike. It's the same reason why the S6 relationship disgusts me so much. The victims of the demon that Spike was. Whether it's Buffy sleeping with the thing she is supposed to be killing (with the thousands+ body count lets not forget) or even years later saying said 'monster' wasn't so bad, makes a mockery of all of Spike's victims. And I'm ALWAYS on the side of the victims with no sympathy for monsters.

I strongly dislike how the characters are drawn in the comics, they look nothing like the actors.

I feel the same. I don't know if you've seen some of the panels from the few comics with Spike and Drusilla in them but from what I've seen most of them hardly look like them. I read that James Marsters was upset about one of the comics he wrote for Spike and Dru because the artists didn't make Dru look like Juliet Landau and he felt that it wasn't fair to Juliet and her beauty and her portrayal of Dru. I've seen some of the Buffy and Angel comics and it's the same thing which makes me not want to read the comics. I still haven't and I don't know if I ever will lol. I have read a few of the Spike and Dru ones though and they have their moments but its just not the same without the actors.

The same when it comes to Angel/Angelus by the way. 😉

Makes Faith's body count tiny in comparison :)

doesn't Anjay have the highest body count of all? Yet Xander still loved her

I read about James Marsters upset too. He actually apologised to Juliet Landau because of it. I've not read any of the Buffy comics and I doubt I will. It doesn't help either that some of them aren't considered canon.

Spike, Xander and Willow are probably the only recognisable ones because of, like you said, the eye patch and the hair colour.
