Who should Giles be with?

Why Ethan?😕 There are no signs of any physical chemistry there and the whole thing just weirds me out.

Giles - Ethan makes a hell of a lot more sense than Giles with Buffy (ew!), Willow (ew!), or Xander (ew!). He refers to those three as "children," and acts in a fatherly way toward them (or, as in Xander's case, an annoyed way sometimes). There is absolutely zero sexual chemistry between him and any of those three and, in fact, with Buffy, I get the distinct sense (especially in the early seasons) that Giles is being extra careful to keep a fatherly distance from her. Any pairing of Giles and any of those three is beyond imagination to me.

But we don't know what his history with Ethan was. They *were* friends, and could have been more. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Ripper at least experimented with men, if he wasn't even outright bi; and what better candidate than his mate Ethan? Ethan keeps showing up in Sunnydale - coincidence? I think not. I've read some fan fic pairing them up, and when it's not unbearably ham-handed, it's pretty believable and kind of interesting.

ETA: I don't ship them, but I do enjoy some of the better written fan fics with them paired up.

I hear you, and I know people do. Heck, there's tons of fanfic about them. I haven't read any of it, though. But to me Giles was almost as fatherly toward Willow as he was toward Buffy. Just different ways of looking at it. 🙂

Firstly I wanted to vote for Jenny butthen I thought wait Joyce and giles had been so cute in the episode with the poissened chocolate.
They handled like Teenagers and they were amazing.
And it would be interesting to see how Buffy would react.

In fact I was really concidered that they would get together!!

Joyce! They were so adorable together. It was heartbreaking when she died and he listened to the record that they had listened to when they were teenagers.

I think his reaction to Joyce's death was more poetic and tragic than Jenny's.

I love that pairing too! It has all the good elements of Giles/Post without the mwa-ha-ha evil part. And last but not least, Olivia Williams is off the charts hot.

Jenny definitely! Though when I was watching those earlier seasons I actually thought that Giles/Joyce was going to be endgame! When Dawn came on the show (and I hadnt read any spoilers) I thought that somehow she was going to be their daughter from the future or something..

Joyce! Joyce! Joyce! I love Jenny, don't get me wrong, but there was so much chemistry between him and Joyce, and an obvious bond as well. That scene in "Forever" where he's mourning Joyce by listening to "Tales of Brave Ulysses", is short, but simply perfect. Their love goes deeper than what people see. 😛

I voted for Joyce. I liked Jenny and everything, but once she was gone, and after the whole Ted thing, I think both Joyce and Giles needed to move on. I think they would have been great together. I think it's such a shame that they didn't get a chance to explore that relationship further.

I really would have liked him with Joyce. Recently, I made my friend (who isn't really a Buffy fan) watch Restless, and when they were standing next to each other in the beginning of the episode, she asked me if they were together. For the first time...I really felt like, "Hey! No, they're not together....but they should be." Womp.

While my first choice was Jenny, I always loved the chemistry between Giles and Joyce. This scene in particular, where Giles reaches across her for popcorn, in a casually intimate gesture.
