Am braving the rain to see No Time to Die later today. With Craig stepping down as Bond (probably a film too late) who do you want to see replace him? Let's do some dreamcasting! And keep it friendly. If someone suggests a female Bond that's their right.

Am listening to Colin Murray and the early NTTD reviews to get in the mood.

I wouldn't mind Elba, but he just feels like one who was more in the running 5 years ago.

I just heard a really good suggestion which is Dev Petal. If your going for a younger more modern Bond then I think he would tick the boxes.

Idris Elba is definitely a good choice, but I agree that he's kinda running out of time, unless they want to go in the route of showing an older Bond and his adventures instead of the usual.

Hey, how about Amy Acker doing her Root performance!!? 😛

I 💚 Kelly Macdonald, but I don't see her as Bond. Maybe Moneypenny? My top 2 choices...

Dormer isn't a bad shout if they went the female root.
The story is that the new female agent is likely to get her own TV spin-off which could be interesting. I thought she was one of the best things about No Time to Die.

Question for the British folks, does James Bond have to be played by a British actor? Just curious cause that would affect who I'd chose to play the role.

I'm not hung up on it being a British actor, but I understand the tradition and ideally think it should be.

George Lazenby was an Aussie, so I guess not...as long as they can do the accent
@Fuffy Baith, Sure does mate! (please excuse the colonial variance of English)

And about 007 being a woman, (#7) will 007 still *do* everyone woman she meets 'cos a 007 lesbian! Now that is calling time for a change.

In my opinion the only good Bond movie that has been made in my lifetime (born in 1990) was Goldeneye. The later Brosnan films were cartoonishly terrible and all the Craig films are overlong, stupidly plotted, and at least 25% product placement by runtime.

So I think they should just let it die. Of course they won't because the movies make crazy money, but I don't see any redeeming qualities to trash like Spectre or Skyfall or Quantum of Solace. Horrible, horrible movies.

Pierce Bronsan isn't British. He has Irish and American citizenship. He lived in England for portions of his life but he isn't actually British. He was born and raised in Ireland, moved to England as a teen, now lives in the US.

Oh I didn't know that, thanks!
My cast for Bond would be.

Tom Ellis as James Bond. I am fed up of all these moody bastard Bond's doubting himself like Timothy Dalton and Daniel Craig. Even Brosnan got a bit like that. I want a smooth, charming, funny Bond like Roger Moore. He was my favourite Bond. Obvs you'd tone down the sleaziness, but even then I don't think that was much of a problem with Moore. That was only really there with the very earliest films from the 60s, but for me Moore's Bond was a likable hero for the most part. Charming, self deprecating, and noble where it mattered. IE didn't like to kill but had to if need be.

For me Tom Ellis would be excellent at that. He's charming, funny, and has a certain light hearted quality like Roger Moore and he already has a reasonable fanbase as a womanizer, jokey, anti heroic character as Lucifer.

Dana DeLorenzo as always would be my number 1 badass Bond Girl.

As for the villain well I am spoilt for choice to be honest. So many wonderfully charming, affably evil actors out there. Maybe give Charles Dance a shot at it? Or perhaps Mark Hamill? Give him a big screen villain role after decades of being the best animated baddies like the Joker. Or if you wanted a female head villain, Lucy Lawless would be ****ing amazing.

Ben Miller meanwhile would be hilarious as M. He's such a sarcastic bastard.

Gina Carano meanwhile would be an excellent modern day Grace Jones type, IE the badass amazonian crazy villain, though I understand if she might not want to as it would be a bit typecasting LOL. Michelle Gomez, even though I HATE Missy, I'm not so petty as to deny that she can be good in other roles, and might make for a good, hammy, entertaining crazy bitch for Bond to tangle LOL

For the theme meanwhile I'd LOVE Caro Emerald to do it. Love her music so much. This song has Bond written all over it.

She is so sexy. She kind of looks like Ingrid Oliver and Sheriff Donna a bit too. I LOVE that look.

Ideally somebody tall, somewhat good-looking, can play confident & charming but also be brutally (and believably) cold and violent when its needed.
Also someone who can at least pass for being in their late thirties to early forties- couldn't take a 'young Bond' seriously at all- since Bond should have a confidence that comes from life experience rather than youthful cockiness.

In the running I'd go for Idris Elba, Tom Cullen, Kit Harrington, Richard Madden (my personal preference) or Chris Hemsworth (yes, we've already had an Australian so we could try a good one this time).

As for somebody to play a female 00- (not Bond, try making her a distinct and interesting character in her own right rather than going the lazy gender-swap route...) Jessica Findlay-Brown or Hayley Atwell are good picks.

And y'know what, the Modesty Blaise IP is wide open, Quentin Tarantino has wanted to direct a modesty film for years now, plus Neil Gaiman wrote a screenplay based on one of the novels (so there's plenty of source material). Basically talented people are interested, somebody should look into giving it a serious treatment.

Richard Madden is a good choice
Who should the next Bond be: Rege-Jean Page
and why: He could be a real "heart throb" Bond, he's just hitting his prime, ticks all the boxes you want in a modern Bond, and has the support of a previous Bond to carry on the mantle.

I have heard people say Tom Hiddleston is too obvious but I dont get why that should be a disadvantage – he would be perfect for it.

Dev Patel could work although he is probably still a little too young atm, but Richard Madden would be good or maybe even Dan Stevens.

I hope they stick with a male James Bond. A lot of his characteristics both good and bad are quintessentially male in a way that wasn't so much the case with say Doctor Who who is more changeable and so more suitable for a female Doctor. But a female Bond would change the character too much. It would be like having a male Mary Poppins, Ripley or Jo March.
Why not just keep Bond as a male and have a new spin off female character

Think that might be the plan.
