Who should the next Bond be and why?

They went off the book ages ago. I think for the franchise to stay relevent you have to modernise it. There's a balance too. I think Craig brought some classic Bond elements seen from the likes of Connery and Dalton, but also did his own thing.
 
@Mr Trick, yet if you think how a vampire was portrayed from the book, to modernise the vampire you would get the Twilight or BTVS versions. Did it need to be modernised? To me that was just the films or TV series directors view.

With the new Venom movie out people are throwing Tom Hardy's name in the mix to play Bond. After having seen the movie, Hardy is still cute, but looking a bit older now. It depends on what kind of Bond the producers want, an older Bond or younger Bond? A more action type or more suave type? I think Craig did a good job playing both. Dan Stevens could play a more Pierce Brosnan type of Bond, I haven't seen him do action yet. But looking at him, he looks like he could be Bond.
 
@Fuffy Baith That's the thing you have certain windows to pounce on such things. Hardy is the favourite as far as I know, but you do wonder if that ship has sailed. I would be up for them going with a younger Bond and giving him/her a good run of ten years to grow. Also I see Hardy as more of a vilain or anti-hero type.

Yeah, I've heard rumors the Broccoli's might want to go with a younger Bond, so they can have a long run. Craig had a long run, 15 years, but only 5 movies, and he was getting older. I like Richard Madden, I think he could be a good.
 
I'd like to see Tom Hardy give it a shot, assuming Idris Elba doesn't end up with it.

Casino Royale had a really nice take on a more brutish Bond, but I would really love to have Hardy take it in more of a "street ruffian" direction. The idea of the best agent of MI6 being this total thug in fistfights is something that is just really appealing to me and I think it would make for an interesting new dynamic. Maybe instead of gadgets or gizmos, he's more well versed in grounded and down-to-earth tactics. It would open the door for a new type of Bond villain as well. Perhaps the villain could be someone who is uniting and using London's poorer communities in a bid for power. We could have a Bond who would need to be more street-smart than he is a gadget whiz, and you could have some nice and dynamic action sequences a la the crane chase from Royale.

He's also attractive, so that helps 😉
