In School Hard, Spike did clearly state that; then, for whatever reasons-- either an "oops" we forgot what we said or it would be a better "story" for Dru to have sired Spike or he did mean that Angelus taught/mentored him. I think that it was a combination of "oops" AND and a better story-line for Dru to have been the sire. (setting up the whole dynamics of the relationships, etc) Don't forget that Spike was supposed to be a "temporary" character, so there are several instances of inconsistencies like this. (for example, how old William was when he was "turned")

dru sired spike and angelus sired dru so angelus
would actually be his grand-sire so to speak...

You are right; I think that the confusion comes in because they did change it from what was said in "School Hard", as I mentioned in my post. 🙂
 
He called him his and I quote "Yoda...my sire" think he ment mentor or like Grand Sire...But in 'Fool for Love' we saw Dru sire him and in the ep were Wood beats Spike up in that cross covered room...the flashback...he says something about Dru siring him...dunno. But I really think it was Dru
 
we saw her drinking of william...maybe then she had a vision and spike was gonna die so she asked angelus to finish what she started..or something like that-she bit him,true...did he drink of her?,we dont know
 
They explained that somewhere. I just can't remember where. But honestly, I think they just changed the story later after they decided to keep Spike around. But Dru actually was his sire. I can't list my points due to spoilage for some but I believe that he calls Angel his sire because Angel made Dru who made him. And as we have seen Angel was the alpha male when Spike joined the fang family. He was, in many ways, a mentor to him.
 
they shouldnt have changed the story...angelus being spiek's sire is way more intersenting than dru being it
 
They didnt change the story, like someone said Spike meant that Angelus was his mentor and Spike looked at him as his Sire since Dru was sired by Angelus. Angelus taught Spike how to be as vicous as he was.
 
i dont think so,..why would angelus want a guy vicious as himself?,..he's GOD,he's perfect,nobody comes close,he follows orders from no one,he's ANGELUS...and he doesnt like competency

i think they probably changed the story...but they shouldnt

I always had this theory that Angel(us) had his soul when spike was sired and he did it meaning that Spike always had a soul too, because in true vampire mythology I think ensouled vampires pass on souls to their sirees. But this kinda fell through when series 7 came around.

But I'm pretty sure Drusilla sired Spike because we might be continuallt told otherwise but there's never been a flashback of Angel siring spike but theres been at least one of Drusilla doing it (Fool for love).
 
A sire (just like with horses) is male, its just a word that always refers to males (females are refered to as dams, but that would sound weird in teh vampire world) so while dru actually did sire him she was female but Angel sired Dru thats probably why he calls Angel his sire, its just a male oriented title
 
Spike was definitely sired by Dru. Darla sired Angel, who sired Dru, who sired Spike. In saying that Angel was his sire, Spike meant that if Angel hadn't sired Dru, Dru wouldn't have sired Spike, so even though he's technically Spike's grandsire, Spike refers to Angel as his sire occasionally.
 
I noticed this too. We were told, as well as shown that Dru was his sire. But yet, looking back on the Seasons and in the episode School Hard he says:

Spike: You think you can fool me?! You were my sire, man! You were my... Yoda!

I'm just like, 'huh?'
 
There's already a thread about this,...I think at the begining of Btvs,Angel was his sire and then the wirters decided Dru as Spike's sire is better....
I still belive Angelus sired him,...
 
It showed it in the episode were he is telling buffy how he killed the first to slayers that he killed that Dru Sired him
 
OMG... There's been three threads or so about this already! Here's my same answer: Joss tries to cover it up by saying that sire is not only the vamp that made you (Dru), it can also be your mentor (Angelus).
 
at the begining(s2) Spike said Angelus was his sire,..but then in s5,they showed Dru biting Spike,...we don't know if he drunk of her,maybe she had a vision or start feeling bad and she asked Angelus to sire William
