Last we saw Cordelia Chase, she was a Higher Power at Angel's side along with Ghost!Wesley. The two discussed Angel's role in the final apocalypse with him & Connor.

Now Angel's gone double-Rogue, and Cordy's still Angel's only conduit to TPTB. All of the original cast has returned at this point except for Cordy.

Who thinks she'll play into the final arc of Season Eight?

I think Allie confirmed that we won't see Cordy in season 8 but in saying that I would LOVE to see her in the final arc!

The thought of her verbally handing Angel his backside to him is just, well...neat!

I'd love for her and Buffy to have a conversation, seriously, I have been wanting those two have the "Angel Talk" for years! Also, her and Xander seeing what they became would be made of so.much.win!!

Gah! Why couldn't Cordy have strolled out of that ship thingy instead!

Allie also confirmed that Spike would NOT appear on a cover of BS8 ;)
I would be really surprised if Cordy didn't show up in Angel's series at some point, but I doubt that we'll see her in Season 8.

I hope she shows up sometime and personally I think they should bring her back to the Buffy fold. Bring her back to the main cast. Dont know why she is the only scooby to be shunned from the group after S3.

I don't think we'll see her. As I recall, Joss didn't really want to have her appear in AtF, but Brian Lynch wanted to use her and Joss deferred to him.

It's a nice idea, but I think it would convolute things even further.

Season 8 already has it's fair share of "Oh hai there!" cameos.

Yeah Oz, I'm looking at you....... ¬_¬

I don't think it would. Spike, Connor, and Ascended!Cordy were the three most important people in Angel's life last we saw him.

I'm not talking cameo, Cordy's Angel's conduit to TPTB. Like I've been saying for months, it would make no sense for Spike, Ascended!Cordy or Connor to be unseen when Angel goes all Darth Vader.

Connor & Spike should have been trying to dust (Tw)Angel, and Cordy should have been appealing to him. His mission was her life's work after all...

Personally, I hope we don't see her as I believe her character is pretty thoroughly wrecked. They already gutted the character in season 4 of Angel, then thankfully gave her a proper sendoff in season 5, then (in my opinion) gutted her character again by making her an ascended higher power. Skip had it right, what has she done to deserve ascension? Sure she did a lot of good deeds and by the end was a genuinely good person, but nothing worthy of sainthood. I might be in the minority but I much preferred the thought of how her character ended in season 5. The powers owed her a favor, which she used to set Angel back on his path and then her soul went on to exist for an eternity in a heaven dimension; the perfect end for the noble warrior.

Making her into a higher power for real this time just seems very unnecessary to me and I hope they don't continue to expand on it.

She was already Ascended in Season 5. Normal dead people don't have corporeal ghosts capable of killing zombies and disarming weapons.

She didn't earn ascension, it was her "reparations" for one of the PTB's own murdering her.

The Oracles said in S1 that even the Powers couldn't resurrect someone, so Ascending Cordy was the closest thing they could to make it up to her. They allowed one of their "sisters" to descend, make Cordy have sex with her surrogate son, and then murder her at the ripe old age of 22 (Cordy, not Charisma).

The PTB couldn't resurrect someone? Some witches, Wolfram & Hart, and Osiris can do that. There were entire magical tomes on the subject. I find it suspect that they have enough power to turn a human spirit into a "Higher Being/Power That Be" but not enough to just heal the damages that Jasmine inflicted from possessing and then leaving Cordelia's body when she created a new one for herself.

I'm still uncomfortable thinking of her as a "warrior" when it was only her last year as Cordy that she started learning how to fight. Is S6 Xander considered a warrior? I liked when Connor handed Amnesia-Cordy a weapon to see if she felt anything but she didn't. She wasn't a hundred plus vampire or a Slayer and she didn't spend every week training and every night patrolling year after year. The "hunt" wasn't instinctive to her personality. There were other things she brought to AI without being the scientist or warrior or witch or leader.

I always had a problem with the fact that she didn't even try to find a way to keep the visions without dying. That she would rather be the important Vision Girl for the group and then die from the brain problems after two years than to give up the group, live, and help out another way. It reminded me of Riley in Out Of My Mind. He was willing to die because he didn't want to give up being a super-soldier and run the risk of not being needed by Buffy. I saw Birthday as her OOMM episode except that she waited too long and the damage was irreversible and then got tricked by Skip.

Yep.

The Oracles said in S1 that even the Powers couldn't resurrect someone,

I'm not sure about the not being able to resurrect. Are you talking about when Angel went to them about Doyle? This is how part of that went:

Man: “you try our patience. What is done…”
Angel: “Can not be undone, you keep saying that. But I need Doyle. You can fold time, you’ve done it before. Bring him back.”
Woman: “To what end? To nullify his noble death? To leave his atonement unfulfilled?”
Angel: “If it means he lives.”
Man: “He doesn’t so that you may.”
Woman: “You do so that others will.”

I took that to mean, 'cannot' as in they cannot allow it (at least not then) not that they don't have the ability to do it.

Well, yeah they can rewrite the timeline ;) But short of that they can't resurrect someone :D
Yeah, the Oracles knew that if Doyle didn't sacrifice himself to save those demons in Hero than Angel would have. They saw Angel as more important to the "big picture" and wouldn't trade his life for Doyle's. Doyle was a great person but in the scheme of things, in the Good v. Evil fight, he was a helper/employee/AI version of Slayerette-Scooby for Angel. Just like Cordelia. Doyle died and she became the new Seer to fully the position that Doyle's death left wide open.

I'm not sure I understand why you think that her presence in season 5 meant that she had ascended. First of all, she wasn't dead until the very end of the episode and once she died her spirit disappeared from Angel's office as well. The Powers didn't resurrect her so much as they gave her spirit corporeal form apart from her body for the day so she could help Angel. Once her body passed away, her spirit lost corporeal form and passed on to a heaven dimension (at least that's what I like to believe).

I'm also unsure if the Oracles meant that the Powers couldn't resurrect someone or if they were just referring to themselves and what they were allowed to do. While nothing concrete has ever been established about what the Powers can or can't do, since gods such as Osiris can do it, I don't see why the principle forces of good in the Buffyverse couldn't as well if they really wanted to 🙂

Cordelia was basically astral projecting in Your Welcome. Except that somehow she was able to make her astral form corporeal. It's not impossible to do that but it does usually take practice and a certain degree of power. She knew that she was going to die and could have used her Skip-given demon powers to do that. To see the Fang Gang one last time.

During the phone call at the end of that episode he says "When did she die? Did she, um... she never did wake up? I see."

We know she didn't die in the morning because Angel and Wesley when to see her there when she "woke up". The coma girl with one foot in the grave that Cordelia prevents them from getting a good look at was really her.

More than that, she had blood, which tasted human.

Well, if she was physical she would have blood. And she was part demon post-Birthday, not full demon. Infact, it seemed like the new powers were the only change that happened. She did not get bloodlust or agression or a disconnect from humanity or anything that Angel, Buffy, Oz, Illyria, Connor, etc, felt. It was one of the many reasons I was disappointed with Cordy becoming part demon.
