I am doing a research/interview paper for one of my graduate classes and since we have such awesome diversity on the boards here I thought I'd see if I had any takers to be my interviewee.
The topic is language and gender socialization through use of popular culture. I need someone to speak with who either has a first language other than English or who speaks additional languages to English if that was the first language learned. I plan on relating the info I gather about gender socialization through language in real life to gender roles and stereotypes in Buffy and Angel that either reinforce or challenge the initial socialization; ultimately I am exploring how nature and nurture help us create personal identities as social beings.
The questions to start are pretty basic, but I may be asking somewhat personal sexual orientation/ how you were raised kinds of things, but I wouldn't expect anyone to answer who feels uncomfortable answering. Additionally, anyone I actually use will remain anonymous in my research paper and anything personally identifiable will not be able to trace back to the interviewee.
In any case, if you feel like helping me out, feel free to private message me and let me know. Then we can converse by email or instant message if you like. The paper is short, but it is due December 10th, so I need to get my information soon.
