Who was Cordelia's replacement?

After Cordelia left BtVS, the original intention was that Spike would be the one who says everything tactlessly, as in Cordelia's replacement.

However, it seems to me like Anya was Cordelia's replacement, even though Spike was sort of as well.
Which one was (more)?
 
It was Anya I believe she came with her powers and then lost them so after a while Anya became a regular.
 
Definitely Anya. She came into the show at the end of Season 3, just as Cordelia was getting ready to make her exit; it was obvious they were testing her out as Xander's love interest to see how well the fans would take to her. She was a hit, so they brought her back for Season 4 and she stayed.
 
Anya. I know Spike was supposed to be it, but it didn't work. For one, he wasn't able to be there all the time because of the vampire thing... and for two in order for Spike to be Cordelia's replacement the group had to even sort of accept him into the group... and they didn't. They couldn't and stay in character.

But then there was Anya. She also said things tactlessly and realistically. And the group did sorta accept her. And she was able to be around all the time.
 
Yer Anya. I remember James talking about how Joss was tryin to make him into the new Cordy but it just didnt evolve at all..i dont think he lost sleep over that tbh lol
 
Anya I love Anya but I felt she was another version of Cordy so we would get used to her not being around. Later on they gave her other developments but at the beginning she was just like Cordy.

Like someone said Spike was never accepted into the group at the level Cordy was so yes he couldn't have been like Cordy.
 
ok so what do you think would have happened if Angel hadnt taken off. Because charisma was told by Joss when he talked to her about moving over that if it failed she would always have a place at Buffy..so how do you think that would have worked if she'd come back?

There would have probably been a struggle between the two forces - Anya and Cordy. Imagine how the world would have looked like after that!

It's a very hard question to answer, since those two characters are so alike. There isn't much place for both of them, so I think Joss would have probably gotten rid of one of them. Probably Anya.
 
It worked out for the best 🙂 i love Anya, especially with Xander 🙂 and i hate that i kinda love Cordy with Angel 🙂
 
I have always thought Anya as i see Anya as the comic side of the gang and i saw Cordelia that way too.
 
It was Spike. James Marsters said so himself at Dargon Con a few years back.
