Who was Whedon's favorite?

Arguably he was more important than Buffy in the last season. Look at all the ways he progressed the script. The plot advanced through his character and not Buffy's. He was the catalyst for everything.

Good point... Spike was the central plot device for almost everything when you think about it.

Not just the plot device, but wouldnt have found out about the first if not for him, who caleb was, get buffy back from the other dimension or close the hellmouth. It was the Spike show.
As far as I know, Joss never hated Spike... James says a lot of things, but he contradicts himself often, and as much as I like him, I don't trust his judgements most of the time.

And there's a lot of other things he said about him. I really, really don't think he disliked him. If he did, he wouldn't have let him to have so much place in the last three seasons and a that much beautiful final. I mean, look at the way he wrote him 🙂


But personnaly, without any doubt, I think Joss' favorite character is Buffy (like it has been said before, and I totally agree). But I think he also loves Willow 🙂 The way he talks about her character is very significative in this regard.

I also think he really likes a lot Xander and Spike.

Xander for sure. During the beginning of season 5 Joss told Nicholas Brendon that his character was done, and asked if he still wanted to be on the show. That's why Xander is basically a cheerleader and only insults Spike in the last 3 seasons

I heard that Nicholas wanted to transfer to Angel Season 5 but Joss didn't think he had a place for the character.

He didn't even have a place in BtVS 😛

I don't think Xander on AtS would have worked though, Xander had no real purpose in the show beyond season 4. It would have been cool if he did a crossover episode though, seeing him and Cordelia interact would have been awesome 😀

Well we do in Dollhouse- Miracle Laurie's November. She's gorgeous & kick-ass to boot.
 
Wendon might be a creator and all but I honestly doubt he has a favorite.

He says some stupid things at times honestly and it makes no sense at all. I think why he changes them is because he is seriously scared of his Fan-base.

He's playing Koy so when someone is like "Joss you said blah blah blah about liking your character which one is your real favorite." He would go "Oh well you see it's to hard to decide who~" So it keeps him away from his fan-base and not getting himself into "trouble with them".

Point blank he's scared of his own fan-base.

Deal with it!
